- Positioning a resident in bed is important for maintaining alignment and for preventing bed sores (pressure ulcers), foot drop, and contractures. Proper positioning is also vital for providing comfort for residents who are bedridden or have decreased mobility related to a medical condition or treatment. When positioning a resident in bed, supportive devices such as pillows, rolls, and blankets, along with repositioning, can aid in providing comfort and safety.
In this video, Lisa demonstrates how to position a resident on her side using support from pillows.
Thank you so much for this video, I am going to take my CNA test this Thursday and I found this video very helpful and built my confidence to pass it.
I will come back with the result!
I love the smile at end of each skill when you are saying skill completed!!:))
Good Luck to you Ting!
Hi Lisa, thanks got the videos, these are really helpful. Should I use 4 pillows as mentioned skills list or 3 pillows should be fine ?
Hi Mani! Thank you for watching our videos! There is a pillow under the head that is one, one behind the box that is 2, one supporting the knees and ankles that is 3, and one under the top arm that is 4.
@@northerncoloradotrainingin6388 Thank you for your reply. This helps. I did give the exam today. I am confident I will pass the test. Thank you for your videos.
Does the order matter? It says in book to start with head/arm THEN put backside pillow in. If it doesn’t matter, your way makes sense too.
Hi Sheri, thank you for watching our videos. Order only matters on the state exam if it says first, before, or after. In this skill, the only steps in a specific order are "Before turning, lowers head of bed " "After completing skill, washes hands"
Why you guys don’t put gloves on?
HI Delian.
Thank you for watching our videos! I assume you mean gloves?
This is not part of the skill requirement for the Colorado state exam.
