Once purchased a used D/A crank that came with a new never installed BSA BB from a company named Lightning Ceramic. Installed it on my Caad 9 that has never been ridden in the wet. I have over 5000 miles on it and still spins forever when I take the chain off to do a deep clean. It has never been greased and it is the best BB I have ever had. Also have a Hawk BB on my Pegoretti and it also spins like new. Perhaps riding in the rain ends a lot of BBS prematurely.
Yup hi quality steel bearings NSK VV, NTN LLB or equivalent is the answer and its cheap too if you change the bearings only. Me, use BSA bb, take out the bb from frame, use heat gun to heat the bb and take out the bearings with no tools (heat gun only). Careful hot. Then reuse BSA bb with new bearings, same process, heat the bb and put the bearings back to BSA bb. It is so dirt cheap to have hi performance bb. Reuse the BSA bb for better environment without lost the performance.
I have Ceramic Speed BB and OSPW. Just the standard bearings one and they are good for me. Works well. Did set me back a lot of $. The Nova one seems nice and affordable for sure. I’m looking for an OSPW for my Red RD and I’ll check them out.
Wicked Pissah Cool Bottom Bracket. Like the wheels but too deep for me. Cross winds in the White Mountains going down grade pushing me all over the road. I run low below Radar wheels 😁
they are the best, they are on all my bikes and that is all I ride, they are in the grand tour now on team total energy and also the bianchi team, I dont have any issues with my bike from my sl7 to sl8 and the other bikes probably have lkike 2-3000 miles on the sl8 bikes no issues
@GCPerformance18 Thanks for the feedback! I'm doing a Falath Evo+ build with Dura-Ace/Rotor/Light Bicycle parts & I'm thinking the included BB is marginal. I'll have to post a video when it's completed. The entire frame is that lichen green to brown copper chameleon with silver lettering and graphics. It's gonna be a sick bike!
From what I understand from Hambini, you have ceramic balls and non-ceramic bearing races. Would rather stick with steel/steel. But thank you for the video.
placebo rome? Learned a new word today! Awesome bike. I'm going to get something similar. My lightweight rim break climbing bike isn't cutting it anymore.
I ran the *Nova OSPW before and I personally didn't like it, ☹ Ascetically I loved how it looked but my dislike came mostly due to where their system positioned the chain. IMO, its too far forward but... this Ceramic bottom bracket looks like a WinWin and perfect timing too! as I am building up a new bike. I think a good selling point with PressFit BB's is the thread-together installation option. Always loved those types of BB's. Solid video and always appreciate what you're doing for the Cycling community, 😎 #RobbArmstrong 👈🏾
thanks so much!!! this bb is very nice for the money and I am running it as my main right now, but built quality, on the ospw, they are all positioned like that with the chain, if it looks to far forward for the sram maybe it was installed in the wrong whole
@@GCPerformance18 may i ask, why you got such a low chain tension? I recently installed a nova ospw and i went according to their guidline but what i saw here now is completely different. Your chain has no tention at all if you would go small cog small ring. Can you elaborate on that?
are there performance claims? it's 175 eur, an Ultegra BB is like 30. AFAIK, ceramic bearings for bike applications make zero sense (I think you need muuuuuuuuuuuuch higher RPMs, like automobile type RPMs to see a lower friction benefit?), performance wise, but if i m wrong i'd like to know.
HSC is lighter and less expensive. I have it installed and will not go back, I'm sold on HSC ceramic bottom baskets, for $159 USD. And it weight is 83 grams. I can't find a better one on the internet, but nice attempt. That one is inferior, heavy and over priced.
Hot AF bike boy and yeah you don’t deserve it….jk…lol…it’s sounds sooooooo good and I think new bottom bracket spins more freely vs the ceramic ? I don’t know that’s what it looked like to me, and those Hyper Wheels though, I think I’m finally convinced, I gotta get me some 50’s , thanks for another awesome video
Its not that the hub is tight. The pawl springs are so stiff they are causing a lot of friction while freewheeling. Why didn't you spin the cranks with a dropped chain? By generic Bbs and even the old shimano BBS do 5-6 crank spins with a 30° flick
Of u had ceramic bearings in your freehub it wouldn't do that. The bike doing that only proves that the bb and pulleys are faster than the freehub bearings
I hate to be that person, but why do you keep calling it Nova to Ride when it only reads Nova Ride.. 2nd, looking at the prices online, Nova Rides ceramic BBs goes almost the same price as Ceramic Speeds and the same goes for their OSPW.. So I'm not so sure where you got "HALF THE PRICE"... and even with your code (if i can use it from i'm oredering at), with 10% discount, the price still goes double if not triple against other brands ceramic BB such as tripeak and ridea.. and as for your "show-proof" of smoothness by lessening the "chain tension", the ridea ceramic BB i got can do the same for a third of that price and it only weighed 67 grams.. just saying.. nice bike you got there though..
Okay, soooooo I keep saying nova to ride. Because there website is literally called novatoride.com They sent me there very first ospw when there company was called nova2ride. So sorry for that I still associate them with that. Now for the half the price. Nova bb are 180 usd minus 10 percent is 163 usd. Ceramicspeed right now if you go on there website for current or same models, $380 usd. So actually they are more then half off. I don’t get what the confusion is about that.

Your next bottom bracket should be made by a five year old!
Link doesn't work and it's not listed anywhere on their website?

As someone who worked with bearings for 40 years ceramic bearings are never needed.
BB Infinite, Hambini and Chris King are the best bottom bracket. ( steel bearings ) there is no need for ceramic bearings.
Just ordered a BB Infinite BB86 for my bike build. Hope they stand up to their rep.

Not really for Hambini, my one broke after doing 500km
@@user-nu5fx6en9h mine broke after 400 km
chris king ceramics are ~$300 usd, so squarely in the middle. let's have a review of one of those!

Very nice ride! Love the paint details on the seat tube.
Thank you! Cheers!

very nice!!! and yes these wheels would be hellish going down hill at fast speeds lol
I’m all about that oil slick lookin’ BB shell. How did you say to get one?
its form team turtle in singapore, they are impossible to get unless you buy from there direct
Phil Wood BB's are also top
very nice
Bro!!!! Jesus….I’m in love, that wheel spin test is a orgasm to my ears and eyes!!!!! Will get the pulley and BB fo sho!!! 🤩🚲🔥💨
Is there any performance gain by using one of these bb?
Very marginal. Less resistance in the bb area you don’t have to work against your bike with smoother bb. So easier to maintain a smoother pedal stroke
Very impressive test
Thank you! Cheers!
@ GC Performance, how do the Nova Ride bottom brackets hold up in the long run? Do you have any crazy miles on one yet? TIA!!! 😃

they work great no lie

Where can you buy Nova Ride BBs in the US?
there are dealers but they ship bery quick using the code
Yo GC, Have you heard anything about elite wheels ? Hope you have some thoughts on it
yea I have rode them they are super nice wheels, really light and I like the quality, Ihave a discount code as well

hambini says it, so u should do it!!!!!!

heavier? No, thanks! Keep it!
Good video GCP 💪
How do these compare to wheel manufacturing ones?
i like quality stuff too
it is quality stuf from first appearance
Hi, what bottom bracket size do I need for sram dub on my sl7? Can you help me out? Thank you!
BSA threaded sram sub
😎. I thought you had a WHT SL7. Who cares 😴 your 💸 💰 your choice.
Nice video.. is the chain length slightly too long? May be just my eyes 😂
No bang on sized.
No it’s the chain length, it’s just for me, kept it for stock length
It did look very droopy in the in little ring! Is this what happens when you run an OSPW?
hello i bought a pf30 BB from nova ride, it doesnt come with the tool because i got it locally, what's the size of that specific tool? thanks!
I do not know off the otp of my head, it came with the product I have to look at it again

The gains are marginal, but BBs with non-contact steel bearings suffice for most of us, which is also smoother than a Shimano BB.
By the way do like specialized prevail 3? The Ferrari Red looks 👌 🔥.
Such a clean looking bike
Thanks for the information
Pause, then click 9:00 for a surprise
hahahahhah just for my fans
GC do you sell many specialized Allez sprint track bikes? I'm going away from the cost of groupset costs 2k and up and try a single speed.
