Hi Aaron. O, ya :/.. - I double checked the guide - it's not in the worded description, but it does have the SDS symbol. I studied a lot of beta for this one and it seems overwhelmingly unanimous that people start crouched. I suppose this is why I overlooked it. In all honesty, it seems like a SDS would be super awkward and, for someone shorter, impossible without stacking pads. Personally, I think a forced SDS that takes away from the intuition and quality of the climb seems... strange?? Anyhow, I suppose I didn't do it 'legit' according to the 3rd edition guide.

Yeah I think crouch is fine for Tatonka... Literally every video on Kaya is a crouch start. The "move" wouldn't exactly be getting your butt off the ground anyway.
The SDS symbol is a weird/tricky rule. In some cases I think it really applies (usually if "sit down" or "SDS" is in the climb name), but in most I'd argue it's a general guideline to denote "low start."
