I love the fact that cultures from all over the world developed musical instruments that produced similar sounds even when they were isolated. Makes me think of how they would react to listening to these sounds which were so familiar and yet so foreign.
The Tagelharpa and the a variety of the Japanese ones, like the Koto and the Shamisen really capture the feeling of an era, tho, imo. The sound is as alluring as still, fresh water in a lake.

The bridge and tail is made from a chunk I cut off from a piece of oak firewood. And the structure of the whole thing is made from a plank of pine wood cut in half and glued together. The only thing I have actually bought were the tuning and fine tuning pegs witch came with some violin strings, which I am going to use. It is by no means going to be a work of art nor an effective instrument but I learned a lot working on it and am already planning my next one but with proper tools and materials.

I feel like this is supposed to be a somewhat grim song, but for me the lowest notes are the grain of wood and the higher parts are flashes of sunlight. In the middle are green grass, dust, yellow flowers, and a few glimpses of brilliant red cloth. It sounds like a long walk or a ride in a wooden wagon on a summer day, in short.

I have to say out of all of your tagelharpas this one has had my favorite sound. I also love your band and the way you incorporate the frame ritual drum in order to make AWESOME sounds.
I was wondering if you could give any tips on tagelharpa building, like what causes this particular tagelharpa to be lower than the rest? And where do you place the piezo pickup if you put one in?
I really enjoy building all sorts of guitars and stringed instruments and would love to try my hand at not only building, but playing the tagelharpa. I'll be overjoyed if I can even come within a fraction as close to as good as your instruments sound.
Thanks in advance and keep up the great sounds!

      Hi Xander,
thank you so much, I'm very happy you like the instrument and our music! :)
Well, if I understood right the question, the main reasons of a lower sound are related to the longer string lenght and a bigger soundbox; so, the dimensions of the instrument, as it is for violin, viola, cello and doublebass :)
The sound you hear from the video has been taken with an external microphone, but if you need to amplify the tagelharpa you can of course put a pickup on it; what I can suggest is to do some tests in advance using an external pickup, the type you can apply on the instrument outside (like the violins' ones) to find out which is the best position for the sound you like.
Thank you again for your warm words, and wish you a really good work! :)

Then I watched about 8 episodes yesterday.
I get on YouRube this morning, and the 5th suggested video on the main page is this one.
Coincidence? Extreeeeemely unlikely. Like holding a winning lottery ticket and being struck by lightning while in a shark's mouth levels of unlikely.

Curious how you applied the delay. Is there a pickup inside? I can't see any leads. Or is it placed over the track in post?
