Hi! I just want to say I'm super thankful for all the useful tips and templates here. I'm applying for a exchange program that requires me to take a TOEFL test. Since I was extremely busy with my school work and part-time, I only had a week to prepare for it. I ended up using only your videos to prepare for the speaking and writing tests because these are the tests that I'm most unfamiliar with. I ended up getting a total score of 110 (R:30, L:25, S:28, W:27), which is far more than enough for this program. I messed up the listening section a bit but for the rest of the test I was extremely confident and the results really showed that. Thanks again for all the help!

Hello Josh, I had my TOEFL last Saturday and got my scores today!
R:23, L:30, S:28, W:30. Total :111 The only prep i did was watch your videos so thanks a lot for that!! Your writing and speaking templates worked brilliantly. With reading it was bad because I kinda panicked and the passage was extremely boring, but then after that I was calm and could ace the other sections!!

Hello Josh! My TOEFL is on June 22, and I have mixed feelings about it. I registered 2 months ago and was planning to start preparing in May. I ended up wasting all the time until previous week. I am worried that I will not be able to prepare well enough to get my desired score: 110+. On the other hand, I have some experience with TOEFL prep. I have been attending in-person courses this autumn, and I think I gained a decent amount of knowledge there. The only thing is that it was long enough ago for me to forget some material/skills. In addition to that course, I feel like my English is pretty good. Sometimes it's easier for me to express my thoughts in English than in my native language😁. Moreover, I am preparing for the SAT, so TOEFL seems like not that big of a deal to me. But all in all, I am very stressed out because when I took practice TOEFL test, I got 23 on both reading and listening. I make mistakes mostly on Inference questions. In a perfect world, I would get a perfect score on speaking and writing and even then my total score would only be 106 (I am talking about the real test). I will still try my best to improve my overall performance in just 10 days and report back when I get my score. I just wanted to let it out somewhere, and I think this is the best place to do so. $200 is a lot of money for my parents, so I just don't have an option to fail and try one more time. Thank you, Josh, for your time reading it and for your effort helping so many students to get their dream scores. I've seen that you usually reply to some comments, and I would be very happy to receive a piece of advice from you. Thanks!

@@MonuKhan-sd7hn I started with reading and listening first, watched the tips as well as took mock tests. After I was comfortable in these sections, I started practicing speaking and writing. Three days before my test, I took a full mock test each day.

From my perspective, the prioritization of STEM subjects should eclipse the significance of liberal arts education. As Ally mentioned, in the current job market, the emphasis on theoretical knowledge of STEM looms large, and individuals equipped with STEM backgrounds in these domains are more likely to come to the fore in the stiff competition. My own experience is a case in point: over a decade of study in computer science has become my principal strength in job applications. Prestigious corporations, such as Tencent, Google and Baidu, extend their olive branches to me, a stark contrast to my brother's experience in film production, which has not led to any promising career opportunities.
Sam's point, while emphasizing the value of liberal arts education, failed to realize the practical constraints of an already packed academic schedule. Incorporating additional liberal arts courses could detract from the time and resources needed in mastering these STEM subjects that are more aligned with future professional prospects.

I am writing in 2 days and I only had 5 days to practice. This is my first time taking any English proficiency test. For me, the most difficult sections are speaking and writing. I need to score atleast 26 in speaking as required by FPGEE but I cannot think of any reason in 15 seconds. It takes me atleast 15 seconds to understand the question and I speak too fast everytime. I have been a fast speaker since a young age. Will speaking too fast lower my toefl scores?
Hi, Thanks for your question. It depends on what you mean by too fast. If it is so fast the machine cannot understand the words, or you run out of ideas to say before your time expires, then yes, you will lose points.
I've really got tired of hesitation, my English levels according to the british council app. (B2 in all sections and C1 in writing). Every time I prepare for The TOEFL I feel like I am not ready yet. I am following you Josh since Aug 2023 😢 .. please I wanna you guide me what exactly the period that I can make it on. I'm about to bite the bullet and take it with in the next week, but at the same time I don't wanna waste 200 dollars if my score was not satisfying (Further more my monthly income is less than 150 dollar so I have to depend on my self, any course is not an option for me).

Hi there and thank you for commenting. In the last week, I usually recommend that students do not do anything new. Rather, review tests and materials you have taken already and refresh your mind about what you have learned. You could also sit for 2 hours and take a practice test as well so you can get used to how the TOEFL will feel on test day. I hope that helps. Good luck.

First of all, you can find useful tips on our site here - tstprep.com/articles/. When it comes to reading, the best way to improve is to read. I would suggest investing time in a site like LingQ where you can do some extensive reading that is not connected to the TOEFL, that way you can build your skills and vocabulary with text that is a little bit easier before moving ahead with the TOEFL. If you need to talk to a teacher, you could also try a trial lesson and they can give you some pointers - tstprep.com/store/toefl-trial-lesson/
I want to reschedule my last exam due to major technical problems I encountered during the exam. During the test, I encountered multiple instances where the site and computer blocked me, preventing me from continuing with the test. Despite numerous attempts to log in and continue, these issues persist. The proctor was unable to solve the problems, and in the end he advised me to book another test, but I do not want the money for this test to go away, and I am not at fault, so what should I do to reschedule? Will they charge me a fee for that?

Thanks for giving tips. I got 104 on TOEFL with 26,26,25 and 27 in R,L,S and W respectively. Although, I was targeting 110 but I want to ask is there a huge difference between 104&110?
It depends on the program you are applying to. Each school will have different admission criteria.

Word count is part of your score, so you should aim to write as many words as required or even more. However, there are many other important aspects of your response that are graded.

The Emergency Course Premium package includes a 6.5-hour video course, 8 TOEFL practice tests with answer keys, 500 reading and 500 listening practice questions. The first 100 practice questions will be the same as in the free sample. As for the 8 practice tests, they are all new.
