In a long previous video JMG provided an explanation of how it could have been possible that a meteor striking the earth COULD set off a nuclear reaction. Certain elements in the meteor, certain speed, certain amount of exposed material already somewhere on earth ... sorry I don't remember exact info or what video.

    • @boobah5643

@@hakrj12 The most primitive type of fission bomb is set off by making a cylinder of sub-critical mass and making a sleeve of also sub-critical mass, and then using an explosive to shoot the cylinder into the sleeve to make one super-critical mass. The only reason a meteor impact can't do the same thing is the difficulty in finding an appropriate meteor and target area (but note that at least one natural nuclear reactor has been found.)

@@Codysdab Being able to "handle" something is a very funny way of hand waving the problem with rising sea levels. Pretty much all of Earth's major cities are coastal. With that comes pretty much all of our major infrastructure. All of that will be functionally destroyed by rising sea levels. We're already starting to see the effects of rising sea levels in every that's bordered with the ocean, and it's already very expensive. It's has only just started.

At first I thought those people to be the first to be alive when a crater was created by a meteor impact were lucky, then I realized they were probably very unlucky of they were close to such a massive explosion and the material that got ejected into the atmosphere plus the environmental changes that go along with the blocking out of all sunlight in the area 😨

Everything is vaporized within a 5km radius. Then comes the heat shock wave. What is it's death radius? 80km? A death circle of 160km diameter.
Look at Tunguska meteor: no crater. Only *all* trees knocked down, for miles. That force let nothing survive, for at least as far as the trees fell. And it didn't even reach the ground. Must have been much smaller than Harappa.

How long would the 3m rise in sea level take John? What’s the estimate from the study you’re referencing?

Number 2, tree antennas. Why not use self-adjusting antennas? Wrap the trees but include coils that stretch themselves out as the trees grow. The wire length should stay the same but with looser coils. You still would want someone checking on the array but it would hopefully be mostly repair and much less manial tweaking.
