Bullies need to face karma for all the pain they cause, failing that, sterilise them and their parents so that they can't breed. If you think that's an extreme view it's because I spent 20 years in the police, I've seen too many children who were bullies grow into thoroughly unpleasant and in some cases outright evil adults. Our species stinks.
Both the worst and the best of us. The greatest gift that children can give is to become best friends between two groups that once thought of themselves as enemies. To leave that hatred behind in a mutual future of friendship and possible even love. Our differences make us stronger and should be enjoyed, how bleak a world where everyone looks and thinks exactly the same way. Just a different form of solitary imprisonment. Beings with such a limited world view should never look at the stars, just stay in the mud. For those that dare to look up, there are wonders beyond your wildest imagining waiting.
Young children and young first love. As they mature it would be best to explain biology and they would not be able to have children together and even have trouble trying to mate. Guess if we get into space and meet other species, we may have cross species love.
This tale reminds me of a book series by Alan Dean Foster that began with the Tar-ayim Krang that had a subplot about a partnership of a humans and insectoids races The actual book that this story appears in escapes me at this time tho. It is several books on in the series. The cover shows an insectoid touching the manipulator with a human girl/woman. Anyone remember it????
Since most of these stories are from reddit I doubt there is a connection, but I remember there was another story (series I think) Agro read aloud on this channel, about a Human woman and an insectoid Xeno who met and bonded as friends and allies in the aftermath of a battle, if I recall correctly their common enemy was an aquatic type Xeno who had to wear spacesuits filled with water to get around. It was called "A Brood of Two", and when they first meet she names him "Bitey". And at some point there was a party of pirates or bounty hunters or something, who just wanted to mop up whatever they could, and one of them had been just aching for a fight with the insectoid guy, but then realized he was missing a limb from a previous battle (which would grow back) and let him go, to challenge another time. There was more, definitely a series, but I don't want to ruin anything for anybody who decides to look for it.
Children can be amazingly compassionate and cruel. While upbringing can play a factor it does not always.

Fear a mother that thinks her children are in danger...
yup
yeah...that's a universal among all species with a strong maternal instinct:
don't fuck around with mama bear's cubs unless you ready to find out
Sleep with one eye open when the single uncle finds out.

Thus a long lasting friendship was begun
