That compound regularly had Pakistani helicopters flying overhead because there was a Pakistani army base nearby. The team knew that and used it to their advantage. The book "No easy day" gives correct info on the operation.
Well done to the seals for pulling off this mission and congrats pres Obama for the courage to initiate this mission.

That the helo crash didn't end the mission shows the resourcefulness and cool headedness of that seal team . And since it couldn't have ended better - no seals lost or even wounded - I will say that I rather like the fact that Bin Ladin could hear the seals shooting their way up those stairs , towards him . He - Bin Ladin - must have been thinking ' damn , these Americans don't ever forget , do they ! " . Fitting end for that terrorist .

Sergio Valenzuela Perhaps that was poorly worded....what I meant was if everyone knew this was *just* a simulation, that it was only a recreation from the same sources that claim what allegedly happened. I ask this because many people seem to accept it without question, as if it we know for certain this presentation really IS what happened and all the other suspect events since 9/11 is legit. I'm one of those people who seriously question the whole "war on terror" and the government in general...but even so I'm just surprised that people - often the same people who fully endorse the decade-long hunt for Osama and all the ramifications it brought - has thought so highly of the mainstream narrative, despite little to no credible evidence brought forth to actually prove this story. If I was one of those people, I would sure want a heck of alot more evidence to validate Osama's death, all the things Americans and the world went through in the name of hunting him, and what we're still going through against the seemingly never-ending terrorist threat.

I recommend reading "No Easy Day" for a SEAL's account of this amazing op. He was right there and explains it very differently. UBL was dead before any deal entered his bedroom where his 2 wives and children were. Head caved from a shot down the hallway. He was "unarmed" because he was already dead. Amazing read!

@basketballpwner I'm not sure how quiet even a "quiet" helicopter could be. I mean, if you can reduce the noise so that you're only heard from 100 meters away instead of 500, even that's a potentially big advantage. But, forget the choppers - there were so many other possible sources of sound.
It would be nice to know how soon after the SEALs' landing Osama bought it. Knowing that the SEALs were on site for 38 minutes, and that Osama was the last to die, I've assumed that his death...

@basketballpwner ...occurred several minutes into the mission. Maybe that's a bad assumption. Maybe the SEALs swarmed over the entire compound in a matter of seconds. If so, I can understand why Osama failed to have a gun in his hands on time.
Still, one would think that he'd have been so prepared for this moment that he'd easily have a weapon in his hands within, say, 20 seconds of hearing anything out of the ordinary.
