Not that we don't have his presence now in his Spirit and Word. I remember the night in Annapolis Maryland I was ready to end it all, and a friend said Jesus man trust Jesus. At 23, I had not known Jesus as God but a nice story Christmas and Easter n religions were built upon. That night in Annapolis Maryland he walked right into my heart and soul and I said, "Lord you're real!" He said very distinctly right back to my soul and spirit, "yes and I've been waiting 23 years to know you". Similar to someone who's known you from afar and finally got to shake hands and pull you close and be your All In all. Praise Jesus Christ praise the father praise the Holy Spirit, my God 3 in 1. Thank you again so much for this wonderful recording and spirit by which it's been sung.
This is my number one favourite hymn of all time and to this particular tune. After I had a near death experience at 17, I was feeling miserable with the effects of hypothermia kicking in but then the words of this hymn came to mind: "Weak is the effort of my heart, And cold my warmest thought; But when I see Thee as Thou art, I'll praise Thee as I ought." After that, I became strangely calm in the midst of what had been a really frightening moment for me. I reflect on this often. All of my praise in this life pales in comparison to the praise I will give when I see Christ in glory.
