Me and some people on the thaumcraft server found out that they were selling some stuff straight out of thaumcraft, and the TC devs confirmed that they had no permission. So we made contact with the essential team, that's how we learned that they were completely clueless about how copyright worked and thought it was no problem to just use those assets. Either they're telling the truth, in which case they're just really unprofessional for starting a real business without knowing shit about the most basic legalities, or they lied and hoped to get away with selling stolen art.
Note that this mod makes your pc the host of the server, which means that the tps will heavily depends on your cpu’s single core speed, how much ram is allocated to your mc client, the speed of your ram and last but not least, your internet speed have a bigger impact than the internet speed of your friends
The chance that your PC is weaker than a dedicated server is like 0.00000000001% To have a similar power dedicated server you have to pay a sum of money which could buy you a high end pc in a few months

The only issue with this is that you have to be on the world in order for everyone to still be connected so it might be good for a custom map of shorts. EDIT: for the people who keep replying the same thing over and over again I know that's how bedrock works

I have been trying to play Minecraft with my girlfriend (every gamer's dream) on a survival world for over 2 years, but every method either costs a lot of money or is too complicated to use. This is perfect!!! Free to use and super easy to navigate! I watched this video and within 5 minutes, I was playing in a survival world with my gf. Thank you, from one gamer to another.
Once i wanted to use this but since my pc is potato then i had to use 1.16.5. But bad thing was that they didn't make it for this version. Now i checked and they have it so i definetly will test this! Thank you for the video :D
If you manually edit a mod's files sometimes they have a line of code that basically tells the mod what version it works with but you can just change it and in a few cases it'll work with the other version without issues
Really nice mod only issue I see with it is being that if you leave the game the server ends , it’s kinda nice to allow my friends to open up servers whenever they want , but the trade off is this runs way better
Better option than Realms tho. -spawn chunks irrelevant (for offline overtime farms) because 15min inactivity puts server to sleep -similar timeframe on kick for inactivity -random "kicked by operator" moments -unmoddable, have to download world and reupload to install even DATAPACKS and experimental features (namely terralith/worldgen datapacks) do not and will not work Yeaaaaaa..... if I'm gonna need to be on the world for even spawn loaded farms to work I might as well play this way while I'm waiting for Sewing Machine Utilities to update for my planned fabric server ^^

1: No the “server” closes the moment the owner of the single player world leaves 2: The world does save as it is a single player world 3: I know you can add mods I’m just not sure if the other people need to have the exact same ones Side note: Using this mod can be very resource intensive for your computer especially when bigger mods are added with it because it is technically turning your PC into a server while running the game, so I would recommend having a strong PC if you want to add big mods (waypoints and simple quality of life mods should be fine)

It's done by uPnP, which usually is (but not always) enabled on your router... if it wouldn't, well, that wouldn't work. Only problem with Essentials mod - you have to be friends to invite people to your world. There are few other mods which does the same thing, hovewer they work much better by giving you IP by which anyone can join.
This looks promising! Have to try this out, since all I wanted to do was create a basic server anyway. Completely frustrated with the constant changes they always make with the updating since it seems like it's affecting how to setup servers now. Even with a completely updated version of Java, for whatever reason I'm only able to extract the files from a a downloaded server.jar of version 1.16.5 which is a version all the way back in 2021. Every newer version I attempted to extract the files come up with the same "java exception has occurred". The last time making a server back in 2019 was definitely not this difficult compared to whatever the heck you have to do now

For some reason me and my friends are able to play without lag on lan worlds but not on servers (we were playing with 100+ mods installed so it explains why a 6gb server would lag). I use Essential with some friends due to the lack of a free server provider we actually enjoy, and surprisingly, there was little to no lagspikes (aside from one of them having a bad router at the time), we had quite a bit of fun for the first session tl;dr Essential is basically the perfect mod for Minecraft Multiplayer nowadays :]
So basically Bedrock Edition also has this built in which is one of the VERY few good things about it however performance isn't great so this is literally just an even better version for Java and I am hyped to try this

You can add mods to the world, I've done this myself before. Just make sure that you both have the same mods/modpacks installed with Essentials included inside of the mod folder (obviously). Once you've done so, boot the game up and use essentials to join your friend with whatever wacky mods you've got.
Dang, nice someone did this in a mod. You could normally do this with like, just running a server on your device, but hosting a server on the normal client server, I love computer science.

That's not how it works. That would cost Mojang/Microsoft tons of money as they would have to pay for your multiplayer. This is why Realms exists. This mod pays for servers by selling user data. If you want to keep privacy and private chatlogs/data, don't use it.

@@trodo_seems like it's peer to peer meaning it probably reveals your IP address and while that itself isn't really dangerous I'd say the main issue is that you're hosting it on your machine meaning if it has a vulnerability it's in your pc and not some server that's dedicated to the Minecraft server. It's about the same as using a regular server hosting on your computer but worse due to needing a mod that you don't know what's inside it. At this point just host a paper server
btw if you portforward the server runs on your own computers resources, meaning that if your playing a game at the same time the servers running you could run into performance issues on your pc.

Opening a LAN world to the internet is very easy. there are even ui's that you can use for example: mcwifipnp. Which does require that you have UPNP enabled on your router. But even without that you can easily port foward the port to expose it to the internet. Really misleading this mod is. This mod is in my opinon pretty awful. Looking at the chat feature: the company that makes this can collect your message data. Everything done in this mod has a pretty good substitute, expect for the chat functionality, which i mean, who wants?
I should note that this mod, while very useful, works on a host + peer-to-peer connection system. The world's stability and latency will more or less entierly depend on your connection to the creator of the world. If the host has bad internet, the world will have poor preformance for everyone. This doesn't make it a bad thing but it is something to be aware about how the mod works.
This is really nice. I don't want to rent a server just to play with one friend, and free server hosts don't offer the best RAM. Just downloaded it so hope it works.
It took the community 10 years to make this, but they did it.
And boy are we glad they did.

@@tomikun8057 doesn't even have to be modpacks. Modpacks just make the server not run at all (even the lightest ones from 1.7)

You Can do this in vanila, but it takes a bit of time and port forwarding, so it's a great mod

It's also important to point out that the mod doesn't allow you to play when the owner is disconnected
most free servers only work when the owner turns on the server anyway.
Often, they also can allow other people to start the server

@@iternity4425 dunno if there's a tutorial but you can use hamachi to create a virtual lan and then use rsync to synchronise the two save folders.

So basically Bedrock Edition also has this built in which is one of the VERY few good things about it however performance isn't great so this is literally just an even better version for Java and I am hyped to try this

can you add mods to the world too? like if me and my friend both download the same mods and use this mod on a survival world, does it show up for us both? or is it only vanilla?
You can add mods to the world, I've done this myself before. Just make sure that you both have the same mods/modpacks installed with Essentials included inside of the mod folder (obviously). Once you've done so, boot the game up and use essentials to join your friend with whatever wacky mods you've got.

I found this mod when downloading a keybinding mod. It is great and I am totally going to use it with my friends.

That's not how it works. That would cost Mojang/Microsoft tons of money as they would have to pay for your multiplayer. This is why Realms exists.
This mod pays for servers by selling user data. If you want to keep privacy and private chatlogs/data, don't use it.

You know the saying, if it's free, you're the product, and the mod is closed-source and the Privacy Policy admits to collecting loads of user data.

@@trodo_seems like it's peer to peer meaning it probably reveals your IP address and while that itself isn't really dangerous I'd say the main issue is that you're hosting it on your machine meaning if it has a vulnerability it's in your pc and not some server that's dedicated to the Minecraft server.
It's about the same as using a regular server hosting on your computer but worse due to needing a mod that you don't know what's inside it.
At this point just host a paper server

or open your damn server. or open your world to the internet with LAN (and just port forward port 25565 and then run /publish 25565)

btw if you portforward the server runs on your own computers resources, meaning that if your playing a game at the same time the servers running you could run into performance issues on your pc.

This mod is just really, rubs me off the entire wrong way.
Opening a LAN world to the internet is very easy. there are even ui's that you can use for example: mcwifipnp. Which does require that you have UPNP enabled on your router. But even without that you can easily port foward the port to expose it to the internet. Really misleading this mod is. This mod is in my opinon pretty awful. Looking at the chat feature: the company that makes this can collect your message data. Everything done in this mod has a pretty good substitute, expect for the chat functionality, which i mean, who wants?

I should note that this mod, while very useful, works on a host + peer-to-peer connection system. The world's stability and latency will more or less entierly depend on your connection to the creator of the world. If the host has bad internet, the world will have poor preformance for everyone. This doesn't make it a bad thing but it is something to be aware about how the mod works.

Modding has become a necessity for the minecraft community. In fact, without playing with mods, it will be laggier and much harder to play.
It's almost as if Singleplayer is based on an internal server that allows other people to join assuming the correct option is set... oh wait.
