Having the Hydro and seeing your review, I'm glad I didn't succumb at the time to have bought the AS24 (especially for the price) and now this AS24 PRO. I'm still keeping my Hydro, for the moment, as KZ's TOTL. Thanks Paul! Greetings from Spain!
Spot on addressing the switches in this review. I’ve always felt it was a gimmick on IEMs and most reviewers prefer the standard tuning. This has me thinking differently but your findings with the impedance is something I hadn’t considered and complicates owning it if you don’t have measurement equipment.
Sometimes I like the switches, sometimes I don't and don't talk about them. Hydro and AS24 Pro, you will find yourself moving them if your library varies. On Hydro, I move the bass, on AS24, the treble. The impedance is a pain, but having a 35ohm adapter is actually a useful tool. I tend to notice it when sets sound odd like Davinci. Had I measured AS24 Pro earlier, I would have fixed my EQ rather than using an adapter. Pointing out the presence was more annoyance at myself for not measuring earlier.
Excellent review! 💪 I think I will get the OG AS24 non pro and the Hydro instead. Those plus the Que are my planned 11.11 purchases so far. Are most dongles low impedance like the topping? I have checked the specs but can't figure out the impedance of any of my dongles.
Yeah, dongles tend to be lower. I noticed people using laptop 3.5 outs tend to have high impedance. You tend to see some popular brands like Topping, SMSL, FIIO, etc talking about near zero impedance. It is just safer with hybrids until you run into sets like AS24 Pro or DaVinci and you just need to recognize that what you are hearing might not align to impressions. Like the super bassy SM4 reviews. Nope, not super bassy but your source is doing that.
Hey I remember this, they had a table showing this vs QDC Anole VX lol, they gotta stop trying to be giant killers but dominating the market they always capture which is bang for the buck most of the times I wish they really did have 24BAs that'd be sick
I have to agree and why I had that line in my notes. People want to try a full all-BA set at a reasonable price, that is AS24. If they want to spend $500, they are going to do that as well.
Just a quickie. Is this set a worthy upgrade to the AS16 pro (which I recently bought, loved 'em but could do with a little more treble sparkle). Any input would be great. Many thanks in advance.
If I had just purchased AS16 Pro, I would hang on to it for now. Play with EQ until KZ puts out an upgrade. CCA hydro would be one to look at if you want another high BA count set, not too expensive, but also has 2DD.
@@PaulWasabii Many thanks. I have actually been thinking about the Hydro for some time now. Many thanks for the reply and your superb content. You're my go to guy for IEM reviews.
12BA's for that price is kinda nuts. A bit of a forgotten one but if you can get your hands on Audiosense T800 that'd be pretty cool. 8 branded BA's for 160-180$ (Aliexpress) tho has to be EQ'ed as stock tuning is questionable, peak
I'll give you 2, S12 2024 or Moondrop Variations. Timbre is the weaker point on S12 and planars so if you are timbrehead, it gets difficult because of BAs too
Its scary. Because the first as24 had the same issues with the drivers, 1 was working and the others was there doing nothjng to boost the price. Wonder if kz chanaged ?
@Christopherpx really. I open 15 iem from kz a few years ago. Non of them had drivers that produced the sound as the main one. Why dint you Google kz fake drivers and see what it cones
@error4159 what? Dude. Really. Fry has a channel that he opens the sets and trys that plastic ba sets at volume 100% and the volume comes at 2%. They there for the court cases in case they say it does not work. And other sets has 3 drivers dd. Like the hbb set and 2 was covered and not working. Not a mistake. They dont know before how to make iem with more than one driver. Now I have no idea. So instead of you defending a company that cheated people for years. Have some guys to Google it.
Yes very , the imaging is spot on and soundstage is great ... Been using these for cod and apex. The all ba design keeps the layering on point and accurate
Yeah, lots of switch haters out there. As time went on, they got better and not you see treble reduction which was missing on all the sets that needed it. But you are certainly not alone, probably the majority don't care for switches

Its going to be a while before KZ cooks up something better than Hydro.
In so mad I would've rather bought a second hydro than this

I have one somewhere and yeah, stock tuning wasn't great. Nice drivers though
the normal as24 has a longer nose
Which one is best for pubg gaming Kz as 24 pro or razer MORAY ?
They two are close on the measurements. AS24 might be a larger shell which is more of a concern on longer sessions
KZ AST or KZ AS24. Which sounds better?
Generally KZ refines and upgrades in newer models so AS24. AST does have a ton of bass if that is what you want
For you, best overall sub500€ iem for classical music?

@@paulosilva8200 This has never been true of their all ba sets.

please review QKZ Odin
maybe
compared to ZAT ?
ZAT never caught on, but KZ refined the tuning for AS24 Pro so I would go with AS24P
Do you have Sgor Luna?
I do not
Is it good at games?
