She is so good in articulating her opinions. I think I can listen to her talking about the film for hours.

I loved this movie! Bollywood need to have more movies like these, where they have subtle moments. Kind of reminded me of Dil Se, Manisha’s role. She didn’t say much but her expressions said all.

Okay, so out if sheer habit I start scrolling through the comments and see such raving reviews that now I'm going to pause the interview and go watch the movie 😊
Apologies Film Companion, will come back later to finish watching this.

I completely agree with her about camera moving constantly. I also do not like it at all. Especially when they do it to just to prove a point, e.g. office is really busy or ooh so much busy street etc which actually does not make any sense coz the audience know that you are using the camera for it not the scene or actors. I feel the real craft is to not manipulate the audience and still make them feel, understand the way they want to. Like you look at the same picture and everybody understands it bit differently.

Thank you so much for a wonderful interview. I was so excited to hear about The Half of It, which I watched this weekend and found so enchanting (which I very much needed after a weekend of unrest). I also loved Saving Face, a few years ago I had a chance to ask Wu about it when she spoke about the film at Stanford, her alma mater. I look forward to seeing her make more films!

I think you are the only person that is this active during the lockdown in India. I can't see anybody working this much in lockdown (except me 😂). Really love what you are doing right now.

      There are 3 things:
      1) I would love to see you give film recommendations for films that are worth watching from around the world.
      2) I think Alice Wu is the first foreign director or artist on the show(I may be wrong) and keep it up with that. would love to see you interview the foreign artist. This can be a Global Film companion channel rather than only Indian.
      3) Let's have Mindy Kaling (aka Kelly Kapoor) who created the Netflix show "never have I ever" which is based on the complicated life of a first-generation Indian-American teenager which went really well.
So, for that here are three things that I would like to see more of. Thanks

I think You should interview Kim jee Woon (director of I saw the devil) and ask him what he thinks of ek villain.

What a great interview! Never knew her or her work before but intrigued to do both. Especially loved the bit about how the background score should be aiding the emotional connect to the scene and not the other way around.

Thank you for the interview. I loved how the director explained everything about how she makes a movie with the emotional connect. Also the way she explained how the goal of the movie was to make all three of them happy. Totally loved the movie, it's beauty and it's characters... No villains. Just one request from my side as well don't take another 15 years to make your next movie. ❤❤

I watched the half of it! Which is an amazing work, the story, the music, the beautiful performance by all these actresses and actors. Amazing really.
And then i finished saving face just now. And honestly, i am speechless....what a masterpiece, what a wonderful wonderful piece of art. I mean the designs, the recurring musical tones and signals. That airport conversation, wow it was so natural yet so .....you ...know.....i am lacking in words. This movie was getting all of it after watching the half of it. Alice Wu you've got a fan in me!

I can understand if the camera is moving or shaking a lot if the scene is meant to show a lot chaos and confusion or there is an earthquake happening and the characrers are going through that trauma...then shaky camera movements would make sense otherwise I wouldn't get it.
