In a 24 land, 61 card deck, the odds that he would have 12 or more lands was a mere .098% chance--mind, the decimal is in the right place. He had less than 1/10th of a percent of a chance of having that land set up (less than 1 in 1,000 games). That shuffler sometimes...
I made a mono red deck with only 1 drops recently. All nonland cards are 1 mana value with only 18 lands. Let me tell you how i was always mana flooded. I have more lands in play and hand than my azorious control opponents.
I played a game yesterday using gruul stompy and my opponent on turn 4/5 played phyrexian obliterator which I had to sac my lands to destroy one with menace and would swing for lethal the next turn. He played his 3rd obliterator the next turn. Real fun random gameplay
You know, what this deck needs. Something, what returns things from exile to the graveyard or to hand or deck. Then it would be a perfect conduit of perpetuity.
"You need to be more manly instead of playing brotherhood's end" and 2 turns later "am I dead? I'm dead". Toxic masculinity should be used to define this.
I'm playing a similar deck mainly Gruul but build around Smuggler's Surprise and you can keep the deck architecture and put whatever huge creatures you want to blast the oppo off!
