THINK ABOUT , THESE Cats.....on the same stage , at the same time......This kind of Talent coming together is pretty incredible.....Music is the Breath of Life....... for some anyway................
Landau.........IS one of those Rare Cat's.......at note 1 ...........you know ..it's Landau Then ya gotta call the Fire Dept... cuz your house..it's burning down............Fantastic gathering of Talent...
Landau always creates Killer Grooves..He's a very Unique artist....... And he still delivers Fresh music, new presentations of his music... He is a musicians - musician... Thats Respect
for the comments about their vocals, I must remind that once you hear Dylan, Neil Young & so many others, once you get accustomed to their voices you hear THE WAY THEY PHRASE & VOCALIZE also especially to their own comps, then you get addicted to the sound & couldn't imagine others replacing their voices.
Saw this band early in the tour - it didn't even have a name yet. Blew my shit. I liked these guys before they got together but each multiplied the force of the other. Luckily, the sound engineer handed the throttle over to them with only slight adjustments, so the jams were their mix. They chatted with the audience during the show. It was a party. And a damn good one at that.
The KILLER bass work with the drummer really puts the songs there. Waaaaay too bad they don't get much share of the camera lens...just a fantastic, melody oriented rhythm section makes these songs THESE SONGS (Jimmy Haslip and Gary Novak: Thanks LOADS...!). ⚡👍🥴👍⚡
Oh my god, that second song "Just like this" is so awesome, such a sgreat band, super powerful drumming by Novak especially in that song, great guitar solos, Landau and Robben Ford work super well together.
At times I felt like either one of the guitars was a tad too low in the mix - like the second tune ( some amazing trading between them) but it might have been just an impression, or some unevenness in their clean/dirty sound levels - in any event, this band is killer and the two guitarists blend really really well together -and the rhythm section of Haslip/Novak is just perfect. I've been a fan of Ford for a while but I must admit Landau just killed me w/ some of his solos. He's his own man as well.
i think its Landau's tone that is similar to Jeff's. their phrasings are both totally unique in their own way, and they are both very different songwriters. No reason to compare though, just enjoy
As great as Robben Ford is, I can't help but think he is watching/listening to Michael Landau play his solos, thinking to himself "how the **** do I follow THAT?!"
Some much touch and tone, especially having to use whatever rented amps you can get in whatever city you happen to be in. On top of that Robin's vocal mic has a weird delay and Landau's mic is so dry his skin is cracking. Killer band.
I think the sound engineer fell asleep on this -the levels and balance are all over the place while Robben and Michael are playing their socks off -Shame..
This would be out of this world if they had different vocalists, neither of these two are great singers and that's OK, but imaging if someone like Imogen Heap or Beth Hart were leading the vocals.... ahhh - heaven
@@porkbelly0713 It was originally a Deluxe, hear tell the router bit broke after the rear cavity. Or maybe it was a motor winding-rumor has it was the same router used on some of JJ Cale’s guitars, and We all know how crazy he got on some of that stuff-backs of guitars hollowed out more than a crack heads cheeks!
I often dont like it when they copy-paste good singers into instrumentalist bands. its like both have their own thing and they either tend not to gel, or you get a singer thats technically a really good musician but it gets too smooth and detracts from what is created band-wise. Its a difficult thing to make a relevant match. The beck/imogen deal for me somehow stole from both of them. It was good obviously but not truly a fused expression. For this i like the grittiness of the singing.
+Brian Copp i guess not. seems more like a mexican deville. if you look closely it has the cheap handle and also has a preamp out. notice the small fender logo instead of the large fender bassman logo, as well..
Judging by the mic placement it's a 410 blues deville. And next to that probably a super reverb. Landau has his own HotRod Deville 212 signature model now, great pedal platforms, but loud as hell!
Mike Landau is truly fantastic but t_o_o much of a Jeff Beck clone, it is in almost every lick he plays. Robben Ford, just a monster, monster player that is the archetype for the great Modern improvising Blues artist.Original in that you can never really pin down where he gets his note selection from, he must have learned from copying but he just sounds so free in his wide ranging , endlessly inventive playing. Love his stuff.

Landau...... is...and has been.....B.A. for a long time.... Organic Instrumentals is a must CD...... he Cat delivers Fresh great music.....
Yeah, I am as big a Robben Ford fan as anyone, but here Mike Landau is just COMPELLING....so locked in it's scary....
Landau always creates Killer Grooves..He's a very Unique artist....... And he still delivers Fresh music, new presentations of his music... He is a musicians - musician... Thats Respect
How awesome is this concert! Two of the most original, and most emulated guitarists on the planet. Playing their socks off.
All are incredible musicians

I heard this band live and the contrast of styles is what makes it work. Landau with the slippery Strat stuff, Ford with earthy blues stuff.
The Darkness solos are just out of this world
Holy crap this great. Thanks for sharing this. They are just awesome.

Brilliant! What a band :)
OH man Landau is so slick...

Great Band of grandmasters ! When will they come to Hamburg !!!!!!!!

I agree 100%...The the sound guy should have been all over that but obviously wasn’t...
i think its Landau's tone that is similar to Jeff's. their phrasings are both totally unique in their own way, and they are both very different songwriters. No reason to compare though, just enjoy
He is my favourite guitar player for now...very good...
Great band!
As great as Robben Ford is, I can't help but think he is watching/listening to Michael Landau play his solos, thinking to himself "how the **** do I follow THAT?!"
+DogCatchersBand Naw, I bet he was enjoying himself. And, I bet Michael did, too. Having said that, they were both ripping.
agree
+DogCatchersBand I heard that Robben did in fact feel that way!
Nah.
Una locura de concierto!doy gracias a que pude estar en directo
This is wonderful!
Damn..everyone talking bout Ford and Landau (for good reason)….but Jimmy Haslip and Gary Novak are absolutely making this shit happen...
THAT'S WHY they are playing with EACH OTHER...
Mr. Fords Tele-Sound is killing it!
Amazing
Man this is so cool..thanks for posting!!
In my opinion Landau has the best tone ever, and his technique is far different from Beck
You should hear his two turntables and microphone
amazing
super-groove!
Show!!!
33:06 .... wow
Thank you for posting
thanks Eric ..................... man Robben's Tele has beaten to death, but then those are the ones that usually sound great
Some much touch and tone, especially having to use whatever rented amps you can get in whatever city you happen to be in. On top of that Robin's vocal mic has a weird delay and Landau's mic is so dry his skin is cracking. Killer band.
It would be gr8 to see Vinnie with that trio....
Why?
Great as usual!
I think the sound engineer fell asleep on this -the levels and balance are all over the place while Robben and Michael are playing their socks off -Shame..
SHUT THE FUCK UP.....CRITICS SUCK......YOUR THE GUY WHO GOES TO SHOWS WITH NO CHICK ON HIS ARM...
I agree
yeah, funny how despite all the esprits, les pauls, rivieras and whatnot I belive he is a tele-guy at heart :-)
Freakin' great!
Estou viciado nessa porra, um dia ainda tiro esse som! eheh
"Who is he what is he to you" (Bill Withers) just do the cover
Mike Landau is God! Definitely!
Thanks!

Beyond the think
I never noticed before, that Robben has one full size humbucker, and one mini humbucker, on his Goldtop.
that is rather odd, why not just two full size ? I dunno, my son has an Epi copy and put full size EMGs in it, it scorches the walls

all techniques and all sounds all different feelings in "38:23 - 40:50"
Landau is a real Master... but I don't understand why he needs to sing !!!
I actually like his singing, it's a bit Bob Dylanish huh ?

It doesn't get mich better for me!

does anyone know what the song name is at the beginning of the video?
On A Mountain, from their second album "Bullet".
Is that a Fender Bassman that Landau is using???
+Brian Copp i guess not. seems more like a mexican deville. if you look closely it has the cheap handle and also has a preamp out. notice the small fender logo instead of the large fender bassman logo, as well..

hey guys, anyone knows the title of the first song?
Mike Ballini did you ever find it?
Might be A Mountain i think
On A Mountain, from their second album "Bullet".
jeez, who the hell was the sound engineer?
Good playing but all the song lyrics and singing is terrible.

Beck clone?? You are just off base. Confused. Really, you're just plain ignorant.
What exactly do yo do for a living?
Load of b-ll-cks.... Beck's a Hank Marvin clone..
Landau is much deeper than Beck and more musical imo
