Our second song with dodieeeeee!!!!!!! We recorded three songs that day, and this was the last one, and we had about 30 MINUTES to arrange and track it. ALSO, dodie didn’t know about this one, so there was no time to learn lyrics or practice! IT WAS TOTAL CHAOS!!!!!! I’m kind of amazed how calm and collected everyone looks...what a bunch of pros.
I'm glad you explained. I was thinking the piece of paper had a grocery list, or maybe her pro/con list for moving to America. Lyrics makes more sense.
So, this was more like a Jammin' session... Don't how to say the next in English: Con razón las miradas de complicidad que solo los músicos comprenden. You guys are Amazing!
@@suckmybat Like when Nahneen Kula sings, always the volume of the background voices its so low, we can't appreciate the assemble of the harmony. I think that happens when the mixing its one instrument player
Nick Campbell deserves way more praise than what he's already receiving. He's such an outstanding bass player in every single aspect! He's definitely the complete package with perfect timing/groove, tasteful note choice, attention to tone (in regard to the song), he knows exactly when it's time for an epic fill or when it's time to be silent, and then it's just a bonus that he also looks so happy doing what he's doing.
No thanks...the song is much better for not having him involved...I'd prefer he stick to writing and let Pomplamoose sort the musicianship and vocals!!
tip of the hat to the audio engineers (especially the mix), somehow the band is tight and loose at the same time, while the vocals and harmonies are crazy solid and infectiously fun ... this song through headphones is happiness
Can we all just take a minute to appreciate the amazing job the two backup vocalists do with their harmonies? Like anyone who so gs knows how hard it is to keep it tame and clean when you really just wanna belt with the best of em
Dodie is such a free spirit. Downside she won't be adopted by Nataly and Jack. So, How can we bring L.A. and London geographically closer? How? I definitely need more of this collab.
I adore Dodie's expression after finishing a song - it's more apparent in the "Monster" video but there's a glimpse in this one too. She just looks so delighted!
I mean this as lovingly as I can: At the very very end of the video Dodie looks like she has no earthly idea what's going on but is very happy to be here.
this is absolutely my favorite female cover of this song and I just found it accidentally the other day. I love how everything sounds so easy and chill. no 'over singing'..which drives me insane. based on the story, there's a high level of intuitive collaboration here. love it. absolutely tremendous.
Just discovered Pomplamoose 5 days ago through a video short about the singer not interested in chords (playing notes very close together 😂). Decided to subscribe to this channel as I like the format a group in the studio recoding and performing various tracks. Came across this song - Shotgun by George Ezra (never heard of him as I’m a Gen-x old school music guy from the 60s - 90s). I loved the track and decided to listen to the version by George Ezra. I’m gonna stick with Pomplamoose’s version. They establish a groove in this song with the rhythms section locking it in and the harmonies established by the 4 ladies. It’s the kind of harmony you don’t hear in today’s music. Quite the inspiring!
She is absolutely adorable in the cutest nerdy beautiful ways!! I love Dodie.. And as always, I adore Pomplamoose. Keep up the awesome, never let your shine fade, because ALL of you guys are a bright light of creativity in the interwebworld.
I love this so so so so so so so much. Everything. Love the keyboardist dancing. Love the singers smiling. Love the background singers. Love the eye-contact from the strings. LOVE EVERYTHING.
There are so many things that I like, Love about Pomplamoose. One of those things is that it is obvious the everybody truly 'feels' the music and what you're all creating.
Unbelievable. Everything is perfect. Dodie defies gravity with such low-key yet super-funky singing. Completely addictive. The perfectly laggy guitar solo is just right.
It's hard to believe that they recorded three songs of such superb quality in one day: Shotgun, Monster and the Breakup Mashup. Amazing voices, musicians and the chemistry. They all clearly enjoy the sounds of music they are making. I can't stop playing this over and over.
These always just seem so organic (and a little bit magic).. This one seems like u have done a bit of post processing, but I always wonder what the live unedited would sound like. To be in the room.. I've been following since early days of pomplamoose, and and hope to be a patreon subscriber when I am off the Dole again. Love u guys. -len
I've always had my doubts about the expression "playing music", as very often it's the result of hard work and commitment to hone a craft. But then you watch videos like these, where you see people who are beyond talented, and who have honed that talent over the years, just having loads of fun fooling around with amazing results.
The composition and execution of this cover is straight up stank nasty! Love how all 4 of the female vocalists have very distinct yet complimentary tones and absolutely crush the execution!
Aside from the music whoever edits these videos is brilliant. The capture of the chemistry of interactions between the musicians shows how truly fun music can be. Inspiring to say the least.
Idk what it is about Dodies look in this, but she looks so deliberately careless with her looks in the most pure / genuinely beautiful way. I don’t know how to describe it past that.
What a wonderful group of gifted musicians. They play tight as a clock but with real soul. And you can see they genuinely love what they do. So refreshing. Keep it up!
I've done these kind of shows -- where you really haven't rehearsed the tune, but you know all the players (and what they'll probably DO) so you just sit back in the music and ROLL! THIS IS JUST THAT KIND OF ROLL!
If you’re on desktop you can right click the play button and hit loop, if you’re on mobile you can tap the three dots on the top right and hit loop Hope it helps :)
I love this everyones amazing! Ill see dodie live in 4 days so im freakin out over here.. also what a tease that they waited to release the songs they did with dodie
dodie smiles singing "i could get used to this" while performing a song she wasnt prepared for at all. may we all handle our life challenges that well!

I need to see at least seven more collabs with dodie before the end of this year.
What a matchup.
We need a part 2 where you get George Ezra in the studio and dodie back in! That'd be killer.
And Ezra Furman

Oh yeah, pretty much everything about this band is flawless. it's seriously amazing.
