- Waikiki Honolulu Hawaii surfing at sunset. Captured with Insta360 One X2 action camera. How waterproof is this camera? I did not use a dive case just the naked camera with lens defogger.

Reminds me of when I lived in Waikiki 20+ years ago. I use to love surfing there in the evenings when the crowds would clear out, the long gentle waves were so great. Thanks
Nowadays it's pretty crowded at mostly all times of the day.
Do you think the camera will survive 5ft or more waves hitting ? I want the camera but I have doubts to use it when surfing medium-big waves
I used it on waves that were 10 ft . It wasn't a problem.

From your experience do you think the one x 2 will survive swimming in the waves? Really want to buy it for the beach to swim and hit waves without a case(want the cool shots without the selfiestick), but I don’t trust it fully yet and don’t want to loose it to water damage…. PS: I got the one x and love it, but want to upgrade

I have never used a case and it survived swimming, snorkeling, surfing, and boogieboarding in the ocean when there was waves. Other people's experiences might be different though.

My one x2 got water inside it....the salt is bad make sure you rise with sweet water after use....
Make sure the battery case is locked before taking it in the water.
@@whosway13 actually make sure the usb pprt cover is tight that side is more vulnerable

It seems like all you do is just let it drip on, no need for spreading it around with your finger (as reviewers say on Amazon), nor letting it dry and then buffing it. But if you can mention some usage observations. It must have been drying as you were preparing to go surf (so you can't just put it on and immediately go in the water. It has to dry?) And as observed by me, up above (and other Amazon reviews), dunking it once really seems to be the secret.
I think the instructions were to drip it on and let it sit for a few minutes then take in the water. Big difference between using it and not using it. Lenses get fogged easily without it and I have to spit on the lenses every 5 minutes when not using it. Instructions are on the bottle when you get it. Good product !
