Holy smokes. I have listened to this 5 times in a row now and I can't stop. This is not only impressive but spot on. Such an inspirational band and such a talent to aspire to. Well done.
I think that other than the original one (played by Vernon) this has to be the closest and most accurate version of this solo. Extremely well played, the tone , the bends, everything is in place. You're a very talented guitar player 👏🏻
One of my favorites during high school and still play it to this day. Actually, just played it a few days ago at work straight through. Love the song Type of their second record. Well, now I have to watch this again while on the job!🤷🏼
Ummm....You played that closer to the original than Vernon has ever played since he recorded it. He never plays it remotely close to the original recording. Nicely done!
The more I study how the mind works, the more I find out how easily our minds are being manipulated. The song is just as relevant today as it's ever been. Your great at guitar playing, sounds awesome! Thank you for sharing :)
The ABSOLUTE closest to the recorded version that I have even seen anyone play the solo ! That was awesome! One of the best solo’s off all time! Far more sophisticated that people give credit for! Vernon Reid is a legend! That whole band was! Thanks for sharing!

Wow! 🤯 Vernon, is that you? Edited to add I heard this song when it first came out and was immediately hooked! Good Lord, they had such a great sound. Everyone put it out there, Mr. Reid, Mr. Glover, Mr. Wimbish and Mr. Calhoun. Picked Vivid up and wore it out. Had so many great songs. Thank you for working hard to get this solo down and put it out to us!
Wow - this hits right on ever level! The tone and sound of the guitar is spot on, your phrasing is sharp and exact, AND you were pulling those wicked quick trems *without* a bar! Great work, man and thank you to the UA-cam algorithm that brought me here!
thansk bro.. i been analysing and practing it more in pieces .. it is fun and help me develop as well , beating my head against the wall struggling with it LOL
Outstanding guitar playing Absolutely Amazing I'm thoroughly impressed and you didn't even use a whammy bar now that's top notch!!! Love to you from Tennessee Cherokee Nation 👊💯
I never heard the solo that's on the original recording played live. Vernon usually plays a different off the cuff solo when they play live. Which is still cool because he in the moment and you never know what he gonna do. Like freestyle rap. But on the electric guitar with tremolo. That was awesome and pumped me up.
yesss my brother. you so true . i used to wonder why he do it different , but now i am glad becuase you get something fresh from him every time they play.. i cant help but have a thing for the original cult solo though.. i learned to embace the freshness of living colour
@@beasz1974 Again I watched you play it. That solo to me is as top notch as the lyrics. This song get me like no other. From the "When a leader speaks that leader dies." And the fast shedding and build to that high note that rings with the whammy bar and kinda ends like blues. That is a way underrated sole. And you didn't mimic the solo note for note. You were part of it. It not only sounded like it but felt like it. There is a "Cult of Personality " universe that only Living Colour can go to. But you and your guitar can go there too.
@@dacechasinghawk3910 yesss .. i heard they was trying to get a MLK exerp , but the duaghter didnt want it done so they got malcolm X instead , which i feel fit the song more .. everything work out in the end they say lol
@@beasz1974Wow, I didn't know that.I wonder what MLK quote they wanted to use. I agree the Malcolm X was better. I was in 5th grade when that video first came out. The MTV VJ was talking about how great the band was even before that debut. That video taught me more about history the school did up that point. When I was in 8th history we watched a educational program about the 60's and I heard Malcolm X. And that got me pumped up to listen to The Cult of Personality. I'm so old? I remember when MTV played nothing but music videos which started my love for music, no matter what style of music. What I miss most about back then is that every band had a expert guitar player who were trying to out-do each other.
Amazing! Thanks for playing the original solo. Every time I hear the part where the solo transitions from the verse to the chorus gives me chills! Especially with the drum fill. I love this song. Thanks for taking the time!
My man bended without a wammy bar!!?? This brother is on another level!
lol .. I used a whammy pedal.. my brother thank you
What whammy setting do use use on the pedal? 2 octaves up or dive bomb?
He’s also playing a 7 string Guitar 🎸 & it sounds AMAZING 😂
@@beasz1974Can I ask you a question. Bro?
@@beasz1974those pre-bends are still superb!
There are very few people who can play this solo well, and you are certainly one of those few. Wow! Well done!
Thank you 💖 I try very hard brother
This needs way more views. Amazing
thank you brother.. i am very humbled.. ..everyday i am trying to improve. it is hard with kids and work .. but i enjoy the hobby

This is pretty amazing. Vernon Reid was all over the place, in a great way, on this solo. Really well done!

Honestly this is the best I've seen this solo played.
You could send this in as audition footage. I think you'd have a shot.
