- The movie is a slightly fictionalized tale about the production of the 1969-1974 ABC sitcom The Brady Bunch, on which Williams played teenager Greg Brady, with backstage dramas among the cast and the show's producer.

It's so awesome that Robert Reed loved the kids so much. Even though,he didn't like being on the Brady Bunch,we all love him for doing it. I watched reruns of the show after school and I have such good memories of it. R.i.p Robert and Florence, thanks for giving us this show. It's innocence and seventies vibes are timeless, and very much needed in this world.
Yeah despite his misgivings he was good to the kids.
Awwwww, don't forget about Alice! (Ann Davis). Rest in Peace to her, too, as well as Allan Melvin (Sam the Butcher) and Sherwood Schwartz.
As a kid in the 70s, I grew up in an abusive alcoholic family.
Thanks to the Brady Bunch, most American kids could enjoy what a real loving home and family was like. Rip Robert Reed and Florence Henderson. The best of America's parents.
Lmfao alcohol doesn't make a mean human it's the human itself alcohol is fine drugs don't make a mad human it's the human
@@dragonmasterx2272 Why are you laughing? I grew up with an abusive, alcoholic, father, also, and there's nothing funny about it.
@@user-oh5uq8kg1l cuz it is alcohol doesn't make humans crazy its the human itself
@@dragonmasterx2272 There's nothing funny about it.

"You hurt your back, son? You're all hunched over..." DEAD.
I reckon I'd be getting around like a half opened pocket knife after ten minutes with either Kaley Cuoco or the bird who played Marcia Brady too
Maureen McCormick
Favorite line: "You hurt your back son? You're all hunched over"
If those actors thought it was over when the show was canceled, they don't know how wrong they were. Through all the reunions, the variety show, the Brady Brides, A Very Brady Christmas, The Bradys, one rule in Hollywood will always be true, the Bradys never die.
The talk that Robert is giving Barry at 1:02:10, he's telling him that true actors pursue acting for the joy of acting not for the desire to become famous. They act because they love it. That also goes for singers and athletes.
@nickxero2740 That's true. A lot of actors didn't even study acting. However, it also depends on what roles you choose. Reed took the role of Mike because he needed the money plus he was told there'd be more drama in it. But Sherwood stuck with the slapstick comedy and Reed was not happy. Reed was miserable but he signed a contract. When you sign a contract you have to fulfill it unless you want to face lawsuits. Also when you're a celebrity, you always have to be careful because everything you say and do is monitored by the media. You say a swear word in a supermarket... BAM! It's headline! The media likes making celebrities look good but they like taking celebrities down even more because it sells more.
Even though he didn't like doing the Brady Bunch, I am glad Robert Reed stayed on for the kids. He loved them as if they were his own.
And he was a fabulous TV Dad. Quite meaningful.
I watched The Brady Bunch as a kid. It meant SO much to me. For some reason, probably due to life’s inevitable losses & stress, I’ve been on a major BB nostalgia kick. Barry, Maureen, Chris, Eve, Susan, Mike … & of course Sherwood, Robert, Florence & Ann B , THANK YOU for the happiness & comfort you’ve given us. Love you all ! Liz Abbott , Buffalo NY
That brings back a lot of great memories, the Brady Bunch live forever.😎
I fully respect Robert Reed. He had amazing talent and was so good to the Brady kids.
Ashley, thank you for respecting Robert Reed. I was not born five years after the show ended but seeing it in reruns was always new to me. I have so much 100% love and respect for Robert Reed. I even have a photo album on him because I love him so very much and think he was the greatest.
@@kmac7689 -- But, I was dissappointed that the only mention they had of him being gay was just one line, even though it was a major part of the tension on the show and especially between him and Florence, and it isn't like everyone already didn't know at the time of filming this show.
Robert Reed signed the contract because he'd been told by Sherwood that there would be drama in it but more so, Robert signed the contract because he needed the work. Sometimes when you need work, you're forced to take jobs that you don't particularly enjoy. But life is like that sometimes.
I had the opportunity to meet Sherwood Schwartz in 2000. He was still just as nice a man. Very friendly! Kinda nice I had the opportunity to thank him for entertaining my childhood:)
they should be totaly honor that they got the chance to play the brady bunch one of the best shows ever
I love how Burt Bacharach is playing and singing Alfie while they're all like "what an awesome up-and-coming musician" lol
“..Remember that time we were in New York; and you wouldn’t let me sleep with you?” -I’m gonna randomly text that too my husband once he’s settled in at work tomorrow LOL. That’s my favorite new pick up line LMFAO 🤣
You know, for all the missteps Sherwood and the writers made, they did one thing right, and that was keep it (for the most part) REALLY timeless. And I think that's part of the reason it's stayed so popular.
R.I.P. Sherwood Schwartz, Robert Reed and Ann B. Davis (and recently Florence Henderson)
Richard Canipe And now Florence...
Who is Richard kanipe
I never knew Sherwood Schwartz died. Also you forgot to mention Tiger.
Schwartz wasn't as good of a guy as he came off to be. He really screwed those kids on their residuals in syndication and on DVD, they got no money for it.
@@billybassman21 Barry Williams said in an interview once that that’s just the way it was back then until the 70s. If you “signed up” on a show starting in the mid or even early 70s, you can get royalties for syndication basically. Unfortunately, they signed up in the 60s (since it’s first season was from 1969-1970). Even Susan Olson said that despite the shows popularity to this day still, the kids were never rich from that show.
I remember all of The Brady Bunch shows. Even the Brady Bunch Movie . I thought it was so absolutely funny. I watched them to find out what family was about. Thank you for the reminder. " No Matter what Ms. Kaley Christine Cuoco . "
Rip To Robert Reed, Florence Henderson ,Ann B Davis & Sherwood Schwartz, We Still Miss You All
Wow this turned out to be dam good. Way better than i was expecting. It could of been a show all on its own.
Haaaaaa
Tampa0123456789 I didn't get a chance to watch this film. 😎😊
my dad met barry williams near his house and said he was very nice all the time and always talked to him, cool guy
This was great! Thanks so much for posting this. How terrific Robert Reed and Florence Henderson were to the kids. It seemed as if they both really cared about them. Both of them went out of their way to care about all of them as people and their respective emotions. Reed's advice to Barry was dead on. I think Schwartz's mistake in the show was not letting the show or actors grow. In their own ways, everyone was saying the same thing to the powers that be about the show. I laughed aloud when little Susan Olsen asked. "Why is Cindy such a dumb bell?"
The camera guy that said "this two are fogging up my lens" that's the real Bobby Brady
Check around 46:50
great
And Mike Lookinland (real name of bobby Brady,) was portrayed by his son, Scott Lookinland.
YES ! Lovvved that !
I actually really enjoyed this. It was like a love note to the cast from the actor :)
I really enjoyed this! I'd never seen it. Like all of the "kids" my age, we grew up with the Brady Bunch. Was tastefully done and good bits of humor. The whole swimming pool thing with "Crystal Blue Persuasion" and the parents popping in to offer dessert was priceless. I had to think back - yeah - that song was certainly popular back then. Thanks for posting this. Had a great time watching it.
It really hit me to see the old stage empty. I think it kinda made really realize the show was just that a show, and it's gone forever. It's something we all grew up with. I have a lot of friends in this biz. I don't get star struck really at all on people I meet, but for some weird reason, meeting one of the cast members I think would do it. Funny
It was surreal to meet Barry! Like he's so affable and sweet. He's seen all the fans he knows the gig. Very nice guy 😊
Loved this. This was great. a great tribute to one of my favorite shows The Brady Bunch. And I have Barry's book and have read it twice and this movie follows the book the way it was written.
I can’t believe this was actually pretty darn good! I thought that it would be horrible. But it was delightful.
I'll love the Brady Bunch forever!
"Do you think I'm stupid?" "No! I think you're funny" "oh" "Hey wanna makeout?"
I LAUGHED
Great Performances By Everyone In This Movie
I really enjoyed this movie. First time ever watching it. Came out in 2000 on TV? Different time different era I probably thought it would be corny.
Love it grew up watching this show
I don't ever hear anyone talk about how cute Eve Plumb became toward the end of the series. In the end, she gave Maureen a run for her money.
Eve and Chris had really blossomed by the final season.
Eve was really cute in the first couple,of seasons and the last season. In this movie, she seems so confident and happy. Was Eve and Maureen pretty good friends as they appear on this show?
@@Laura-ch7flMaureen and Eve did not get along
@@Laura-ch7flthe actress playing Eve Kaitlin Cullum was pretty too. I agree Jan was just as pretty as Marcia
I just remember how bouncy she was in the amusement park episode ❤
Hard to believe it's been 22 year's since this came out
I only saw this the once or twice it was on. I saw barry doing a tour to promote this in 2000 and i got to perform as an honorary Brady with barry and a few others, we did make shift model TA and time to change
The casting for this was pretty spot on.
Loved 😍 it 👏 Saw Barry Williams talk about this movie 🍿🎥 on The Donny and Marie Show 📺😄 And I was fortunate enough 😂😁 to find it here 😉 😺 on UA-cam on your Channel 👍✅ Thanks 😌💓 for posting!📺📽️
I recently started watching my DVD's of the series from the beginning and that got me looking for Brady stuff on UA-cam. Glad I found this. I understand they couldn't actually age the actors playing the kids to reflect how they aged on the show in real life, but I must say they could have at least put Peter in a curly wig like they did with Greg and Mike. But I'm just being nit picky...lol
Also, Robert Reed was a better actor then I thought because you would never know from watching the original show that he was miserable behind the scenes.
I agree! My wife and I went on a rabbit hole of Brady History, and despite Robert's disagreement with the scripts, he always remained professional on camera
Check out their pod cast,, THE REAL BRADY BROS,,not bad
Greg and Mike's did get curlier as they aged. I saw a special with Florence Henderson who said this.
Robert Reed had curly hair in real life. He went to great trouble to straighten it out. When he got off the plane in Hawaii, his hair was curly because of the humidity, and he just kept it that way on the show from then on. It was also much more fashionable in the 1970s for men to have curly hair. Not so much when the show started in the late 60s, and Reed looked like a young Republican.
The orange hair episode was one of my favorites.
i Got to meet Barry Williams a few years ago when i went on vacation to
Branson, Missiouri . I got a pic with him and he autographed the book that he wrote
I remember having vague memories of watching this when I was 10 at the time. Thank you so much for uploading this 9 years ago, this was phenomenal to watch.
Shwartz seemed like a saint in this. I wish I had his patience.
IM A #1 FAN OF THE BRADY BUNCH...70s ...LOVE THEM MEMORIES💜
Notice how Barry puts part of the tip he intended to give to the cab driver, back into his pocket after the cab driver inappropriately asks about Barry and Maurine. Then Schwartz's assistant asks Barry about it as well. Not cool when she chuckles and calls Marcia is a "little hottie". Well written and acted out. Makes me feel for Barry.
I met Barry Williams after he wrote the book and toured for it. The only reason I'm here now is because I was just looking at the autograph he gave me from so long ago.
its funny i love it i wish i would come back
on tv
I loved this TV movie when it aired on NBC.
thanks for posting this. that was actually pretty well done
Thanks for posting. This movie was a great show and answered many questions that I had when growing up. Thanks, again!
I'm so glad I got to see this. I've become such a huge fan of the show and I feel very thankful that this was uploaded to youtube! Thank you! Such a sweet little movie.
I Remember watching this when it premiered on NBC Network Back In 2000
Thank you so much for posting this!
Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed watching it again
I just can't get over the fact that Maureen and Barry were SUPER CLOSE to getting it on and they got interrupted...
Hey they got another opportunity. But Maureen grew up and if Barry wasn’t serious about her she didn’t want to. If he did love her she would’ve went through with it. But he wasn’t and he was honest about it. Have to take your hat off for both of them for that. They cared enough about each other to be honest with each other.
Never heard of this until now. I didn't even recognize Kaley.
Thanks for posting! I love this book (especially the descriptions of the constant feuds between Robert Reed and the Schwartzes) and have always wanted to see this movie.
I Have All The Entire Complete Series On DVD, Classic
Well, my childhood is ruined. :D
I remember watching this movie when it premiered on NBC Network back in 2000
I still cant get over how much mike lookinland's son looks just like him when he was a boy. Like father like son lol
Son isn’t an actor otherwise.
How did I miss this?? I even have the book!
Penny from Big Bang Theory
Malina from Lizzie McGuire
Phil Diffy from Phil of the Future all in one show.
Didn't think they'd all be in this.
and libby from grace under fire (kaitlin cullum)
Seth from the OC.
Wow, this was a lot better than I thought it was going to be : ) **thumbs up**
Robert Reed probably made the series work for him because of the rest of the cast. Those kids were like his own, and he wanted them to succeed.
I have to admit I cried at the end
I did, too
There are a lot of timeline issues.
The attic as a bedroom show was the one of the final episodes of the fourth season, taped in 1973, but the audio click device said April 1971.
Second, the final episode had Cindy in 1972 clothes. She stopped wearing braided hair in very late 1973 right before Oliver started.....and Oliver had the last line of the last episode in 1974.
Pretty decent movie. Thanks for posting.
...and by the way I wanted to see more coverage about the Hawaii episode, the grand canyon episode and the Kings Island episode. This movie would of garnered alot of more attention, if they included those episodes in the dramatization.
I would have loved to see Robert Reed biting his fist at all the Hawaiian guys without hardly any clothes on and how sexy he found them.
It would have been too expensive I'm sure.
This was awesome. Thanks for posting.
2:56 Barry's brother seems to say "Awesome." That expression was not used back in then late 1960s like it is now.
Robert Reed showed only his versatility .He did a fantastic job even though he didn't like the show. The Brady Bunch will always be remembered as long as the Internet exist.
I grew up watching the first runs of The Brady Bunch and, although I remember the singing episodes, I don't recall anyone thinking they were particularly good at it. It was just an amusing novelty to see them sing. Comparisons to the Jackson Five are absurd.
A comparison to The Partridge Family is more understandable...THE JACKSON FIVE WHAT? This was a TV show people hahaha
moochiwuvschachi well there was a series called Jackson 5ive, started in 1971. it was like a cartoon series. I think thats why they compared them to them.
I remember it. It was based on the group (with Michael Jackson) but, unlike the Brady Bunch, they were a successful real life pop group who could really sing.
Kerensa Birch Barry was the best singer in show biz
+bradnbuttr lol
Good thinking on the parent's part! LOL!
Even though this is based on Barry's book and even though he was narrating it it's still a stretch even from his perspective. Here's a few changes from his biok...
1.He and Maureen were not dating through the entire run of the series. It was more of an unrequited flirtation thing. In the 35th anniversary special Maureen saud it was actually Christopher Knight she was attracted to!
2.Yes, they had to do the "attic" scene over and over because they had the hots for each other, but all that hsppened was they kept flubbing their lines. They didn't start making out each time the cameras rolled.
3. The scene in the New York hotel at the end where Maureen rejected him actually took place on the Queen Mary during a cruise to England. Barry got into bed with her, put his hand on her hip and she said "what...the hell...are you doing?" And he left. That was it!
4. Finally, the part where Chris and Eve were busted making out by a cop did happen but it was not on a film set in a prop car. They dated after the show was cancelled and were making out in a real car in the Hollywood Hills where they were interupted by a real cop! He did recognize them and let them go with a warning.
5. I know way too much about this! I'm going too bed 😴
PlumbPitiful What that thing about Barry & Florence?
I’m wanting to know how you knew this..
Let's remember the way Mike was and Florence Henderson and Robert Reed always be in our hearts for every fans will always miss Mike and Carol for ever in our hearts
Robert Reed and Florence Henderson acted well together as Mike and Carol Brady. May they RIP.
Robert Reed was not in the episode where Alice leaves after feeling the kids don't love her anymore. He was written out because he did not agree with Alice's motivation for leaving because to him, it seemed ridiculous for Alice to leave just because the kids were mad at her for telling on them. In the episode where Oliver arrived, Mike didn't join them on their trip to the movie studio because Robert Reed refused to appear in that pie throwing scene, which actually doesn't surprise me.
Reed also refused to be in the very last episode of season five "The Hairbrained Scheme" because he thought the plot was ludicrous, yet, refused to leave the set.
@@mainecoon6514 yet he came back for the tripped out, ridiculous Variety Hour. It 's messed up he gave everyone trouble the whole time talking about how he's too good for the show just to come back. Nah
I thought he refused to be in the episode where Alice left because he didn't like the soryline that the kids could turn on Alice, who had always been there for them, like they did. In Bobby's case she had been there his entire life.
@@AmandaabnamAFlorence Henderson seems to think that a lot of his rancor and unhappiness stemmed from the fact that he had to live this double life. That could not have been easy particularly during the time in which he lived.
one greatest show. watch few times. one great show. all actor A plus video 100000000000% what like today. one classic show. alway watch them on tv
Robert Reed gave Barry some good advice about being an actor @ 1:02:20. Reed knew what the hell he was talking about. "Acting is a craft, it's a discipline, it's a way of life." I'm not an actor, but I couldn't have said it better myself. He is still missed.
lurch321 That's taking it too seriously. It's just playing pretend, being the most truthful liar you can be. It's a job. That's it.
It is true. That popularity does come and go. A famous example in recent history are the American Idol winners, most of them have been forgotten except for Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Probably because those 2 feel the same way about singing as Robert Reed felt about acting. Most who auditioned for American Idol were doing it for popularity but others did it for the passion of singing and those were the ones who made it.
Also what Robert Reed tells Barry about the popularity of a celebrity coming but then going is similar to what Mike and Carol explain to Peter in the episode, "The Hero," how Peter's trying ride off being a hero even when it's becoming yesterday's news, how they tell Peter that heroes aren't remembered very long.
Yes & I really thought that that really was Mo making that very brief & uncredited cameo in that folding chair back when I first saw this TV-Movie back in 2000.
I read the book. I remember thinking to myself: This looks familiar lol
I want to read the book. I saw it in a bookstore, once. But now it's hard to find.
Darren Gilbert that's nothing i read this book at the library!
Richard Canipe That's where I found it, in the TV section PN 1990 something
This was really sweet
Near the end, Sherwood is discussing ideas for season 6 now that Bob's contract is up. Saying that perhaps they could say that Mike is away overseeing a big construction job or perhaps Mike has died. A group of kids that sing who have their mother, a family friend but no father around. If they did that, it would've been ripping off The Partridge Family which was a show that Sherwood wished he had created. They also considered recasting Mike but none of those ideas seemed good.
This is great THANKS for uploading!
THEY NEEDED DANCE LESSONS TO LEARN HOW TO DO THAT??? LMAO
I wasn't expecting much but this is cute
Disney Kid overload..

Watching the people play the people who play the people who play the people who play the people who play the Brady's is doing my head in.
I know this post is old, but my response is it was only watching the people who play the people who play the Bradys. It's not that hard or confusing!
get the Maureen McCormic audio book about her life it's very good
She looked great in pantyhose.
I checked out her book from the library, but almost right out the starting gate she brings up her abortion. Put it down. Will never view her the same. That's infanticide plain and simple.
nope
I think it sll goes to show, what a sudden shock the cancelation of the show affected the actors playing the Brady kids. They all thought they were much bigger stars than they actually were. When the show was cancelled I think it took them all by surprise. Sherwood knew how to create a good show, but perhjaps not a great show, good enough for me to watch but maybe not good enough to be in the top ten. It wa good neough to saty ont eh air but never really got bery high in the rating. Sherwood knew it was not LA Law, or Falcon's Crest, or Melrose Place, or a 90210, but he knew it was good enough to air for a number of years and wsa much better than most of the sit-coms at teh time and would be good in syndication. Robert Redd was a great actor but he made it difficult just as the Brady kids did, to keep the show afloat when they started messing with the premise of the show. The show could have gone a couple more seasons and they didn't need Cousin Oliver. they also didn;t need Mike and Carol's friends, nightclub performer Ken Kelly and his wife Kathy Kelly to adopt three boys to keep the show alive. My Three Sons extended the show a bit by adopting Ernie, when Chip was no longer as cute. They could have done the same on the Brady bunch and it would have been great. The problem is that Ernie was cute on MTS, but Cousin Oliver just was not as cute as Bobby or Cindy was. A little more careful casting effot could have extended the show and Barry and Maureen could also have stayed in the cast Do you rember the show EIght is Enough? (The shtory of the trials and tribulations of the Bradford brood, which consists of eight very independent children headed by father Tom. This comedy follows the kids as they date, grow, marry and have children themselves.) Also the Nelson kids were still on Ozzie and Harriet series after they were garduated from college and married. Swartz needed a little hel, instead he got overwhelmed by a greedy manager and the Brady kids transforming into little Gremlins. Still watch the Brady Bunch but wish there had been more episodes.
The main reason I came here was I was just thinking "knock, knock, knock. Penny!"
Where is Sam the butcher? Or is he still at the big bowling tournament playing against the plumbers?
he was delivering the meat....
On the other hand, he did love the rest of the cast and had them to his home often for barbecues and pool parties. Then he came back for "The Brady Bunch Variety Hour" because he would "finally get to sing and dance".
They should've made a scene when they were making the slumber party episode which is where Sherwood Schwartz, Florence Henderson and Robert Reed all had their daughters make a guest appearance. Robert had been married in the 50's to a woman who was his best friend from college and they had a daughter together. I'm guessing Robert ended his marriage after realizing that he's gay but didn't tell his wife or daughter. His daughter had no idea that he was gay until he confessed it on his deathbed. Not being around his daughter very much after the divorce is part of the reason why he enjoyed spending so much time with the kids.
Surprisingly good!
I thought the kids who played Bobby and Cindy didn't necessarily look like Susan or Mike but they did a great job imitating their voices and body language!
(However in real life, Maureen joined them in Holy Matrimony during the first season and Mike and Susan pretended they were on their Honey Moon when they shot the episode A CAMPING WE WILL GO :) )
The kid who played Bobby was Mike Lookinland's son Scott xD
Scott Lookinland actually looks a lot like his dad if you put one picture next to the other. He has his eyes, nose, mouth, and face shape to a T which is most of his dad's same face.
Uh Scott Lookinland looks exactly like his dad lol..
He was perfectly cast.
If anything, Kaley Cuoco was miscast lol
DisWldFrk90 Poor kid.
You mean he looks exactly like his dad the way his dad looked at age 8 to 10 years
The Brady Bunch never stop
Also anyone notice that Mike Lookinland played a camera man? haha
Yep! That was a cool little cameo. He's a cameraman in real life, too. Or was.
And his son played Bobby in the movie
Wasnt the OG Cindy one of the moms?
Kaley Cuoco as Marcia Brady - Whaoh !
