I worked at the ticket office at kilburn high road for a while. The route is a self contained line separate from the west coast main line. Connection with the west coast can only be gained by running a unit into the ex silverlink county platforms at Euston
Next I would like to see a History of the DLR, as you already touched on that with the North London line, but did not talk about the London & Blackwall and Millwall Extension parts
Sadiq Khan once re-elected as Mayor of London wants to rename the London Overground lines and to give them different colours as Geoff Marshall has done a video of. But I don’t think it would happen. Plus the freight only line between the North London Line and West Coast Main Line could be reused and for Primrose Hill station to reopen and for London Overground operate the Stratford-Watford Junction service via Primrose Hill. And also to open new stations including New Bermondsey on the South London Line to Clapham Junction.
And the Dudding Hill Line to be electrified so that London Overground can operate between Cricklewood/Brent Cross West and Brentford via South Acton. And for electric dual voltage trains to use the electrified Dudding Hill Line.
It would be interesting to see how much more of the rail system TfL will acquire to turn into Overground services. Maybe even bid for rail franchises beyond London- primarily the East and Southeast of England- and brand it as "TfL rail" as Crossrail was. Would run them all better than the private companies in the area.
Hi can I ask what software you use to make that history map? I was recently looking at history of tram network of one of cities in my country and I would like to visualise it so it would be better visible
It was never _commonly_ known as the Harlequin Line. That was a failed advertising stunt connected with a shopping centre in Watford which was a little known place far away for most passengers.
I like how your graphics keep improving. Anyhow, in regards to the content, especially some facts and pronunciations, you're still prone to* errors and mistakes. (In this one, for example, you say London North West Railway, when it's actually London North Western (!) Railway.) * Not sure, whether this is the right expression. Excuse, I'm not a native English speaker.
No I completely agree. It's when I play it back I realise it but don't have enough time to redo it, plus my dyslexia doesn't help aha. Will keep working on it tho! Thanks for sticking around
Well, if it's dyslexia, then I don't wanna complain too much. Makes me understand, why these mistakes occur (rather regularly even, which is no surprise then). i think you're not doing too bad though.
Services also ran Watford Junction to Broad or Liverpool Street stations, in the 1980s these were peak time weekdays only. The spare rolling stock allowed six coach trains to run on the Euston route Saturdays only. This ended when rolling stock was needed for the North London Line. Although this was not the official reason for the ending of Liverpool Street services.
Everyday on the way to work i look over bm K Mo at line just thinking what it was like when in use and why they dont use it today.. Also itry to work out whereabouts primrose hill was, only seen videos but not of the surround k
Yes there used to be a destination indicator at Harrow & Wealdstone platform 1 which included Croxley Green, Bushey, Terminates Here and others. I moved to Oxhey in the late 1980s. The bridge over Wiggenhall Road had been removed by that time, making through services impossible without reversing. Peak time services to Liverpool Street did run.
@@wharpblast264 I did take in the last few weeks of Broad Street a train from Watford Junc to Broad Street into the single platform. Never took one into Liverpool Street. Like that was ever going to last.
The Croxley link was completely canned. Talk about a waste of money spent for nothing. The intention was to retain a link into Watford Met I assume to stable trains.
In this context, it stands for Direct Current. See, all the tracks up from Euston are electrified, but the "fast" or "old" ones use overhead catenary that's energized with AC, while the "New line" or "slow" uses direct current third rail, with fourth-rail in sections shared with the Tube (originally the whole line, as well as those two closed branches, were electrified with the four-rails, but in the late 60s British Rail decided all THEIR electrification that was still 4 rail would switch to 3 rail so that "Southern" electric multiple units could run on them.
The last video in the series, but the first I've seen. Time to watch some more
I'm in love with your voice 😍💕 it's so calm and soothing to listen too
Good voice, occasional mispronunciation, NorthwicK Park, Hemel HEmpstead, London and North WestERN Railway.

Yes, this one’s my favourite
Informative and well delivered dialogue...cheers 👍
Watford & Rickmansworth Railway covered the rest of the curve between Watford High Street and Bushey, as it had a triangular junction at this point.
Can we get an Overground video on the West London Orbital?

I always take anything Khan says with a very large pinch of salt. A man who says what he thinks people want ro hear, a bit like his boss, Keir Rodney
Did I hear that right, connections to other lines at Willesden Junc. What about Primrose Hill?

NorthwicK Park, not Northwich :)
Worked at Watford High Street in the Past Willesden Junction too
Awesome video, you just got a new subscriber :)
Great video sir.
Hi Ashley, it's the London and North Western Railway, not the the London and North West Railway as you stated.
Hi, I was wondering how you create these animations

04:17 - Primrose Hill in 1855. Still can't believe it's gone. What a waste.
You missed up a third track in watford man - there were three closed lines there
For historical questions regarding the Overground, is there an email address we can contact you by?

Yes it was. Along with the north Woolwich to Richmond route

Your Welcome. Anything To Help You Get To That 5K Mark 😏👌.

I'm pretty sure that the line originally ran to Broad St in the east End....
Yay my local line
same
Mines district/Hammersmith city line
i belive you forgot about the connection from watford junction to broadstreet
MY LOCAL LINE WOO HOO
Mine too!
What's the point of this line? Why not run Bakerloo services to Watford?

I thought at the time the reason for stop running trains to Liverpool St was to allow extra trains from the Hackney Downs Line.
Alternatively, at one time, one could catch the trains from Broad Street or Dalston Junction.
Not a chance you can convince me that the DC lines shouldn’t run through to the ELL at Highbury instead of Euston.
Probably not an option due to capacity constraints on North London line and constrained platform capacity at Stratford.
@@jackmartinleith I think they could combine the West Croydon - Highbury & Islington services with the DC line making another Croydon to Watford link

:)
I thought DC was District of Columbia
