Just what I needed. Bought Pigments 4 last year for the first time but have yet to find a comprehensive tutorial like this one. Been kinda just piddling around with it but wanted to actually know what each of these bells and whistles do! Thank you!
Check the channel for the full course. There should be a playlist.
@@UDiAudio I most definitely will check them all out.
I almost never comment on any YT videos I watch. But, your series on pigments tutorial has been really really helpful. Keep on the good work. Thank you so much for your effort. Cheers :)
Thank you so much 🎹
You are also welcome to follow on facebook
Great video. I'm a guitarist who normally uses synth presets, but am now looking to be able to 'try' and create specific sounds for my new music project. Thanks for making the video available, I'll def be watching more of your Pigments videos. 🙂
thank you so much for the comment.
You are welcome to keep in touch via Discord or Facebook. I’ll be happy to help if you need any.
@@UDiAudio Thank you for being so kind. I have been looking at some more of your Pigment videos earlier and playing about in Cubase. If I get stuck creating the sounds in my head when working on my music I'll reach out. Thanks again for creating the videos.
I just got Pigments 4, and this was a really helpful tutorial to get me started. Thanks! I joined your channel, thanks for that, too.

Thank you so much. Your educative style is very easy to understand and your knowledge is deeply amazing!
Thank you my friend 🎹
Just bought Pigments 4. I'm a conplete beginner wheb it comes to useing synths. So I'm happy I found this video. Will try some stuff tomorrow. Just wanted to thank you in advance 😁
Thanks for watching
I got in much more detailed series of videos, covering almost everything in Pigments go back to my first videos of the channel

After going through so many soft synths as a beginner, this is the only one I can wrap my brain around. I think the biggest advantage UI wise is that you can be looking at the modulator side, or the engine/filter side and easily see which are tied together AND what it's doing. Most synths you can only work that out one way and it doesn't show the modulation graphically.
It also helps that Arturia has recently been putting out an absurd amount of preset packs made with just Pigments 😅
That's exactly what so great about Arturia's Pigments. Once you get the idea behind this synth you can level yourself to a sound designer expert.
It's also packed with effects and the filters are just out of this world. I think Arturia nailed it.
@@UDiAudioWow, that's so cool..I'm on it! 🥰💯👍
You have anew subscriber. Great video, looking forward to diving into your channel. Keep up the excellent work.
Welcome aboard!
I have a LOT of videos on pigments even entire course. check the channel.

I love your tutorial... nice and clear and easy to follow along... as I am new to synth sound creation, this has been very helpful. I will check out your other tutorials. Thanks mate!
Thanks for the comment!
I got a lot of in depth videos on Pigments just let me know if you need help
Great tutorial for beginners. Thanks.
It's a great synth. The only synth which is unique in my sense is the Wavestate (you have the native version in VST too) and can't be reproduced by any kind of synth.
Thanks. You can also check my channel for more in-depth Pigments tutorials (my first videos)
Many thanks. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Subscribed!
I got more Pigments tutorials covering almost everything
Ace content mate!
Hey 😎
Thanks
Thank you for this! I'm a long time Serum user, but I mainly just use and tweak presets to my taste. Your video is a great intro to Pigments and sound design in general. Question, is there a way to manually enter values in Pigments?
Thanks for watching ✨
You can click the numbers and enter a value. You can also watch more Pigments videos including a more detailed step by step Arturia Pigments

This gave me a good introduction! It's a lot to take in, but I want to learn more!
I got a lot of videos with in depth information about Pigments including step-by-step sound design.
You can also check some of my first videos in the channel which is a complete course.
@@UDiAudio Thanks, I'll check it out!
Great video - this has helped me considerably with the modulation section, but I still have questions... What would be nice is a (FULL) explanation of all the modules in the Modulation section like Func 1, etc, Rand1, Comb, M1, 2, etc. Seems like my weakest point on this amazing synth. I REALLY liked what you showed here - thanks!
So I actually have that in my in-depth series!

Thanks Udi. Loved the tutorial. Can you do some sessions on building various types of sounds like pluck, lead, pads…

No problem!
Thanks! i own pigments since version 2 but never really used it except for the presets, now i finally got the grip and wanna know how to design my own sound or change the presets that are already there to my liking :)

My pleasure friend!
Nice tutorial. I’m coming from Serum. Can I draw my own shape on the LFO? You didn’t touch on that. I understand that this is just a basic beginner tutorial. I really hope there is a grid that I can use to make my own shapes in the lfo. I’m going to subscribe bro. Amazing stuff. I’ll search your channel for a more in depth look at the LFOs. Thanks for the vid!
Check my first videos in the channel.. you can use the Function modulator to draw LFO. Not sure this is exactly what you are looking for but probebly close.

What's happening when I assign the filter to the envelope....? Is the enveolop acting as a sort of "mix" knob for the filter?
honestly, I have no idea suggest to contact their support
Very helpful! Do you think you’ll do an updated full course on V4?
Hey 👋
Don’t think I’ll do a complete update. The details in the videos is still relevant and v4 didn’t change much of the synth…
did you watch my early videos on pigments?
Will Pigments 4 work inside of UAD Luna?? Thanks!

Hi, thanks for video. Have you any experience with PhasePlant, ? could you do a head to head phase plant versus pigments 4 ?. P4 looks good but PP lets you add more than 1 sample engine, it allows lots more engines if wanted. what do you reckon between them ? also I do not like the thud of most drums but love tabla like drums , how can one make that thud less thud and more " insert word I cant think of " ..thanks
Hey Keyzz 😎
Unfortunately I don’t own Phase Plat yet.. it’s on my list. Indeed there are limits to the number of engines in P4. Do you really need more engines? I think for most uses Pigments sound great and offers a lot of options for sound design.
@@UDiAudio PP gives fully functioning demo for 10 days.
@@mustget Yes I've used it already. I'm actually a reseller and can add it to my shop but just didn't have time. I need to contact them for a review copy.
I don't think they are much comparable in a clear way. I mean most synths will have many of the same components and concepts but the workflow, effects and modulators might be diffrent. We can deep dive into the quality of the oscillators and filters but that's just going to be too much. Have you taken a look at Hive2? This synth sounds amazing to me. Check my review in the chanel.
I purchased Pigments 4. As a classically trained pianist and guitarist (heavy metal however) I figured “how hard can this be?” After all, I’ve been playing Moogs and Korgs and Juno’s for decades now.
Let me say that it isn’t exactly easy. In fact it’s so not easy, that I started to call off of work to learn Pigments. I sold my wife’s BMW to learn Pigments. I started selling illegal drugs on the black market to learn Pigments. I stopped paying our rent. I stopped going to work completely. I stopped talking to my wife. She took the kids and left me filing for divorce. It did not matter, I was on a mission to learn Pigments! It took several months, but I finally have mastered Pigmnents 4!
Unfortunately, I’m now divorced, my kids haven’t talked to me in 6 months, I was evicted from our home, I had to sell all of our vehicles and gold jewelry to buy McDonalds to survive.
Pigments is a synth boys and girls… always maintain a healthy perspective… and don’t lose everything over Pigments 4.
Oh this is a sad story but really the top comment so far on my channel.
Let me know if you accept donations.. :)
Can i use my cheapo Nektar Impact GX49 with this?
Should not be a problem but maybe consult Arturia support.
good tut.
Thank you so much 🎹
Can anyone suggest a few of the top vst instruments with the best presets for creating songs? I'm working with styles such as rock, folk, etc. Thanks.
I think Pigments is very good. You can also check Hive2 as it comes with tons of presets: ua-cam.com/video/sIrE6jMK6SU/v-deo.htmlsi=FqB4be3mhPQm-17N

@@UDiAudio Thank you.
Hey sir, do you have any preset banks for Pigments? With the sounds that you have designed?
that is definitely on my plans. I actually started working on this when from some reason, I accidentally deleted all the presets and I need to re-create them.
@@UDiAudio I see, please let us know and advertise about it. I am pretty sure you will create amazing sounds. I am a Pigments user too and I invest on it ( both learning and presets ). So I try to grab as much presets as I can for Pigments.
All the best!
I'm too lazy to learn the detailed version of every synth especially pigments. Hope this basic insights helps 😃

I uploaded a sample but I can't set it to the same length for each note. Even though I use the quantize option. The lower the note the slower the sample and the higher the note the faster the sample. How can I make it the same speed even thought the pitch is higher or lower? Thanks!
Hello Chumpy
Honestly I don't know. I will have to check it out later this week. I suggest maybe to open a support tiket and ask or join the Arturia user group in Facebook.
@@UDiAudio ok thank you!
How similar to use is pigments 5 in 2025 ?
It’s very similar. There are few additional features in 5 but the basic concept is there.
Sir what should i learn , Pigment 4 or Diva
Learn what you have..
Do you have Diva or Pigments?
I personally don’t have Diva but Pigments is very good and have everything.
@@UDiAudio I have everything what you can think of
@@AashishJhaMusic In that case I would start with Pigments since it’s good for learning about synthesis. I also have more in depth videos on Pigments.. check my channel for the first videos
@@UDiAudio OK
@@UDiAudio HOW IS SERUM COMPARED TO IT
i would love a couple of ideas on how to create just regenerative audio with pigments, if I wanted the sequencer to just keep playing without me needing to hold notes, and then i can map knobs or use the assign function in pigments, to just evolve the sound and create weird soundscapes. Cheers.
Looks like I missed your comment.
I think definitly this can be done. I'll look into it.
The sequencer can be very long and with some modulation and randomizing with functions this can definitly be regenerative.
