Bengaluru loves its egg rice, a heavily indigenised variation of the fried rice fortified with an amalgam of punchy spices and fresh ingredients to cater to local palates. Whilst one will find a popular egg rice cart in almost every neighbourhood, there is perhaps none as popular as Snehajeevi Gowdara Adda Egg Rice, that thumps out enormous quantities to queues of patrons who wait patiently for the hot, spicy rice and other egg-y creations at this shop, ironically, located in the predominantly vegetarian neighbourhood of Malleshwaram. I dropped in one afternoon to take a closer look at this tasty creation and chat with the owner, Kumar Gowda, who began making egg rice in his pushcart 18 years ago when he was forced to give up the tender coconut trade. Hope you enjoy this episode; take care, stay safe and strong. Happy eating!

Sir if you come to Mysore please visit to Kolhapuri bhel mysore.its one of the best place in Mysore please do visit.
You have been doing a great job, by helping all the tiny, small and major food joints across Bangalore to revive their business. You and your team deserve a massive respect Sir ❤️🙏
@Food Lovers TV - the boy’s name who helped this owner start this place was Kumar. kumar is a legendary cook in the malleswaram area who went on to create a famous Chinese food push cart himself. Unfortunately Kumar died of a heart attack a couple of years ago. before starting the Chinese food, kumar used to work for an old couple who used to run a ‘small and modest egg sandwich’ (at a place called Raman’s corner, opposite to Sir CV Raman’s house) food center, the most tastiest sandwiches I have ever eaten. Thats a bit of history for you
That’s interesting to learn, Anand. Is the sandwich shop still around?
@@FoodLoversTV - No. with the passing of the old couple, the sandwich shop closed. it was at that time when Kumar was out of a job and helped Snehajeevi gowdru push cart to start up, before he started the chinese push cart himself. we were students in MES college when all this happened.
one other anecdote for you Kripal - Mr. Ramapriyan, the owner of Amrith ice cream was my brothers classmate at MES college as well.
our entire family is a big fan of your shows. keep up the great work. thank you for positively impacting the small businesses with your show
The Chinese push cart was legendary place in itself 👍
Kumar moved from cart that was selling lip smacking Chinese to a shop just a lane behind Gowdru Egg rice.
Unfortunately he died last year, and so did his legacy.
We are trying to help their family to restart the business again in the same locality.
GOD PLEASE DECREASE GOLD PRICE
Watching uncle cooking after decades! He's stopped now when they expanded! Only when he makes it was very yummy 😋
when he was there the taste was fab after that it kinda faded a lil
Kripal Sir, my office is located in Bengaluru but since my joining last year, I am working from home from Bhubaneshwar due to the pandemic. You are forcing me to shift to Bengaluru, permanently! I just love your videos, amazing work!
This shop is going to get even more crowd after this.
Kripal might have already alerted them..#powerfulkripal
Shop is full of crowd not from now before itself
Of course 😂
Shop will be always crowded
Kripal should ask secret ingredients so that viewers can make at home and worth of watching
I started eating here when he was doing it on a push cart! It was 25rs for half plate and now it is 70 per plate… taste is the best you get in Bangalore 😋😋😋 Kumaranna is very humble as always

I still remember the push cart at the chitrapur mutt circle .. half egg rice would fill our stomach .. miss those days
Even this shop is at that circle itself
This place used to be amazing at one point of time when the owner would always cook and watch his team. Offlate it's only the team which cooks and they don't make it that good. His egg noodles are actually amazing, I don't know if they make it anymore.

I was a regular customer back in those golden days (2005-07). Egg masala and egg noodles were my favorite. Good to see this guy prospering!
The heart burn that comes after can be ignored, i guess:P Good memories nonetheless! this man went from one pushkart, selling 30Kilos of rice everyday to owning three permanent shops on the same road, good to see him on your channel!:)

Ah the MES college days and the double egg rice ❤️
6:40 I make such Bread Omelets too. The bread if you toast nicely and butter it before surrounding it with the omelet, it steams nicely inside also with bits of that buttery crunch. It tastes awesome!
Will surely try this once comes to Bangalore when offices open
Kudos to you for promoting small businesses. Great job
Hello Kripal Sir, Iam a student of MES college which is near this shop. I remember that few years back he used to sell egg rice in 2 carts side by side. It was hugely popular then too. I had tasted his egg rice first when I went for college admissions. Desi flavours and no raw smell of egg.
The way you explained his eggrice, I just closed my eyes and visualised the good old colllege days and could taste the eggrice in my mouth which was watering🤤🤤
🙏🙂Happy this video tool you back to some great memories, Sonal.
@@FoodLoversTV Sir I was waiting for your reply😍😍
I watch every video of yours but I don't comment on any because I had never been to any eatery which you visited. Hi kripal, the moment you enter into a kitchen you will be a differenet person and it slike you enter into a differenet world. great to see when someone follows their passion....
The egg rice here tastes lot better than the much hyped Hoskote Biryani. Agree??

it's way cheaper too
But way too salty

As I heard this , Haveri , a district in Karnataka , famous for its own style of preparing egg rice tastes really well . People come here all the way from hubli , Sirsi etc . It has its own style of cooking apart from gowdru style ...!
This place has lost its charm it was good when it was in cart back in 2005 it was served one or two plates a time with right amount of oil, nowadays it is always oily egg rice you feel like a slap on your face with that much amount of oil
I know the owner personally and am happy for him, this business has changed his life from cart to the shop he has come a long way, built his dream house and achieved a lot 👍 hard work and dedication does pay off..
Great work and love to see that you give opportunities to small eateries for showcasing their creation. Love to see you in North india too

Hello Kripal, this is the first time I’m writing a comment. We have watched all your videos and we’re big fans from Australia.
We enjoy your videos a lot but just a small suggestion/request - since you have subtitles to your videos anyway, can you avoid doubling up on the English translation? Personally just find it very repetitive and also looks a bit disrespectful to the restaurant owners who are choosing to speak to you in Kannada. Hope you can consider this :) keep making amazing videos!
Shop owners history , reflects, failures are stepping stones for success, and he succeeded at last 😀😄
Egg rice was 30/- when I was in MES college back in 2011.
Sir you visit HUBBALLI once you will get eggrice stalls in every street and thier taste will be awesome 👌
No Doubt you are a good storyteller --> Kudos for the way you explain, I know this place for more than 10 years,, seriously the quality is screwed and not the same as it used to be earlier, I suggest you be very choosy while picking the places, as you have some good fans followers whom shouldn't be disappointed. :)
