Black Communion by Hollow Prophet is my favorite song from them, yall should give it a listen. Malediction from Shadow of Intent is one of the best Deathcore songs out there period. Also, if you're curious about vocal techniques then give Kardavox Academy a watch here on UA-cam. Mark is insanely talented and very knowledgeable about how to manipulate the sounds one can make!
the bit about having 2 vocal tones without layering is.. HALF true. there is a technique called tunnel throat that Dickie Allen and Ben Duerr made popular, which does gives you a 2-tone sound, BUT there are also many parts with 2 drastically different vocals being played at the same time, and that IS layered. you blokes might not even be able to notice the tunnel throat technique as it's generally something you only pick up on as an avid metal listener who can normally hear the variation of techniques in someones vocals, more than just differentiating high screams from low growls.
The "two different vocals" technique is bullshit, probably some fan boy trying to prove how good the vocalist is, lol. Which he is, but not to the point where he can do literally physically impossible techniques, like, there's nothing wrong with two or more separate vocal tracks overlayered, I would say not enough bands do that, it adds so much power to the vocals and music itself. I see no reason why someone would deny it, but okay, haha. Edit: I guess I didn't explain what I meant clearly, so I meant two different vocals AT THE SAME TIME without an overlay, which is physically impossible. But of course all the different techniques he uses are legit.
@@BangerGoggles I’m aware he’s insane I’m a fan of him the song and the band. I’ve seen the clip of him in the flannel doing the breakdown and doing all the vocal techniques it’s extremely impressive. We’re just talking about parts where he layers vocals not on if he can switch techniques and ranges when he wants
Oh, word. I thought we were calling bullshit on his talent to do these techniques. The OP makes more sense now lol. I’d venture to say Ben’s vocal spectrum is definitely used in conjunction with layered tracking. I sure as shit don’t hear some of the putrid sounds he makes in any other band. 🥵
His vocal techniques are a bit different from those that he is using in SoI. He himself stated when Hollow Prophet released EP that he used different techniques.
I was requested to react to it as well and I am still stunned that I did not know about Hollow Prophet! They are awesome! Keep it coming! Here is a suggestion for a song: Anaal Nathrakh - Endarkenment. \m/
Fun fact this is a little side project for a few metal bands. Obviously vocalists of Shadow of intent but also the guitarist and founder of slaughter to prevail and I think they don't have this drummer any more and currently have the drummer from Lorna shore 😊🤟
The drummer of Hollow Prophet is from Within Destruction, another band you guys have to get to. You want a weird deathcore/slam hybrid? Check out their newest material.
Ben's highs and lows when together are definitely double tracked. He can hit them all separately obviously but there's nothing wrong with layering imo and no bassist in Hollow Prophet. Just Ben from Shadow of Intent on vocals, Jack from Acrania/Slaughter to Prevail on guitar, and Luka from Within Destruction on drums on this track. Hollow Prophet's newest track, Disembodied Phenomena, has their new drummer, Austin Archey, from Lorna Shore on it.
Here's that video of him recording The Heretic Prevails. He does indeed do both the highs and lows in one take! ua-cam.com/video/-XmDKmt9vqA/v-deo.html
I’ve been able to perform a vocal that was something like a high and low together but I couldn’t project it too well, no matter how much I practiced. So definitely not impossible but definitely not gonna be easy to make me believe without denial either
Please react to scumprophet by hollow prophet the song has Ben Duerr and Dickie Allen in it
This!
Agreed, it’s foul in the best way. Dickie and Ben at their best.
YES
For some reason i thought scumfuck hollow profit had a full split. I was dissapointed that its just one song. Shit does slap though
I WAS RIGHT! It was a full split and the whole thing BANGS

Also, this band’s guitarist is a songwriter for Slaughter to Prevail
Broo i didn't even know that makes sence haha

Yea definitely a lot of layered vocals most the time. Which like you said nothing wrong with that makes it sound even better.
Have you heard The Heretic Prevails? Dude can pump out 3 or 4 vocal techniques RAW, NOT LAYERED, in one 20 second breakdown.

You guys need to get around Methwitch, He's an insane artist.
Yesss keep the MethWitch coming lol I’ve been trying to comment them on every video. Cameron McBride is a genius!
Check out I Drink My Coffee Alone. Another one-man deathcore project. This one has electronic thrown in there. Insane vocals and groovy riffs.
