@Talal Malkana should be pretty straight forward. The biggest pains I’ve ever run into is figuring out where the expansion valve or orifice tube (assuming o-tube based on it being from 90) is located so you don’t install two of them by accident. And figuring out the evaporator fittings. Probably flare but sometimes you see weird metric stuff not sure in Nissan. I used to waste time using as many factory parts as possible but it gets more expensive and aggravating honestly.

Interesting, I have just bought myself a couple of Vevor brand 508 style compressors. Paid $75 Australian each so that's about 50 bucks American I suppose. I was gobsmacked at the quality of these compressors and I did a lot of research on who Vevor is. Even watched a UA-cam video on the manufacturing process. Vevor make so much mechanical stuff and other stuff it's unbelievable but their speciality is air compressors be at small domestic or commercial industrial use and also they make obviously these AC compressors, in many different fitment shapes. But they're popular model is 508. They have sold hundreds and hundreds and no negative feedback regarding these 508 so I bought two one for each car. Genuine Sanden are made in China now days anyway. They were made in Japan and Singapore but I believe now they are made under licence in China. Anyway just sharing, cheers for the video helpful and funny at the same time.

Thanks buddy and thank you for posting this info! I haven’t heard of them but I’m looking em’ up as we speak. I cringe when I see an actual Sanden come through honestly. It’s going to cause us other issues not related to the A/C functionality

I should have mentioned that the Vevor brand compressor can vary from $75 Au to $120 Au but I got mine on special plus a little eBay discount which they offer sometimes. I was interested in what you said about tolerances in the compressor being different as I noticed that the Vevor compressor has a little more play in the main shaft when you turn the front clutch plate back and forwards by hand than the Sanden does. But the quality is excellent even the quality of the aluminium buying housing is much better on the Vevor than the Sanden. I guess the big test will be in service on the car but I am confident with the reviews and other people's experiences in chat forums say that these Chinese compressors are excellent and at a quarter of the price. Anyway cheers and get that helmet on and straighten up and fly right with your head under the bonnet busy fixing the AC good job :-)

Hahaha always gotta have my AC helmet nearby! And did it have that play in the main shaft or was it play in the clutch assembly moving between its snap rings?

If you grab the front clutch plate and rotate it backwards and forwards you can just feel a minor clunk inside. It is definitely not in the pulley bearing or clutch plate. All my Sanden compressors do it as well but they are used and the 2 Vevors are brand-new. I think there is a couple of Chinese versions of the 508 one of them is a UAC brand but I'm not familiar with them. I'm really happy with the Vevor compressors especially since the company makes a massive range of hydraulic and pneumatic and AC equipment. Also I guess it was the hundred percent satisfaction of many hundreds of buyers that say the Vevor installed and works perfectly. Some hot rod forums have used them for a couple of years now and say no trouble at all. Some AC shops are traditionalists and refuse to accept Chinese made but almost everything is now made in China under licence even if it carries the original brand name. Good luck with your AC work and I didn't pick what the car was you worked on in the video is it a 68 Camaro?

Is there a specific Sanden 508 style from eBay that you can recommend?

I like to buy from Yogi’s nowadays. I’ve bought both outlet location styles from them as well as v-belt and serpentine belts compressors. While they seem to be all the same Chinese compressors they’ve always been responsive to questions and easy to work with. I also like that they have a normal storefront and website - to me that means they just can’t change their name overnight and disappear like some eBay sellers do.

How do you even know if it's a REAL sanden or a fake?

They have a plated riveted into them with all the Sanden information and serial number in green and black ink. I’ve never seen a knockoff with that!
