- Today I’m finally finishing the Bassett Desk Restoration that I started during the 100 dollar challenge. I’ll link that video below but, spoiler, I failed the challenge. There were sooo many steps to complete on this piece. Hence the 2 parter. But, after days of hand sanding, I’m finally finished with this desk today!

So glad you got this one finished up.......I had been waiting with baited breath to see how it turned out! It looks great! Looks like that stain and seal works really well, and holy moly on the sanding! How you do that when it's 100 degrees in your workshop is beyond me!
I'd like to say I've gotten used to the temps over the years in Phoenix but that's a lie 😆 mostly I work at ungodly hours for a long as I can, then add my neck strap, then add a fan. But fall is here finally! Thank you so much for saying that, I'm super excited Matt loves the desk! 🥰
Yayyyy you finished it!!!! I cannot believe all the work this one took!!! I totally would just said hell with it your getting painted hahaha!!! You have way more patience than me!!! I was celebrating with you when you put that drawer in!! So smart sticking those pulls in the box like that to spray paint them! It turned out soooo good!!!

Congratulations!🎉 You finished! The desk is gorgeous. It’s like a brand new vintage piece of furniture, which is the best kind of furniture. After all the sanding, you almost HAD to stain it. TBH, I would have stopped from frustration and exhaustion and painted the frame. I’m truly impressed and inspired by your grit (see what I did there😂) and determination. It’s interesting how great those batwing pulls look when they’re painted black. Excellent job all the way, Jenn. Matt looks very happy!🌸

It's finally done and looks great!! 🤩 I know this one was a lot of work but all that work paid off. Glad Matt loves the final piece!

I feel your pain right now, hand sanding spindles forever and a day. The only thing that brought my sanity back was some rubber, different shaped sanding blocks! The dresser looks fabulous!
Yeah this thing was a total beast! I never expected how long it took to get the finish off those legs. Anything turned like that, legs, spindles, etc I can only take in small doses. No more restorations, I'll be painting for the next 3 months, minimum lol. Are you doing a table and chairs? Thanks so much, Dar! 🥰
@@CopperCactusDIY yes. I have a antique table. 2 generations to me, from my family. It is a beast! All 4 legs just spindling away, with ground in stain, what were we thinking. Next up for me, if I can finish hand sanding the legs, argh!!
