lol I thought the exact same thing as you did about the commercial Phil. Though I have to admit, I had no idea that was Kendal Jenner, which doesn't make a difference to me at all really, I just thought I'd point out how out of touch I am these days... For some reason.
I bow down to that Uber driver, I would not have been able to listen to such drivel and keep my calm. Some people need to understand that the people serving them are not their servants, I hope he files a complaint against her .
hakuri ichigo it was always like that the same way white people say Mexican stealing there work and ish African American was always in bad terms with other black nations
Caleb Rhodus Jenner being an expy for the Flower Power hippy makes zero sense and is kind of obnoxious. That was not a protest, it was a peace march. Those cops were just there to keep the peace or direct traffic. And yet these stoic professionals are presented as enemies? Bad joke, Pepsi.
I know what about Trump's possible ties to Russia that are under investigation and the big impeach trump movement going on. What about the big budget cuts for the environment, less regulations for companies, and pushing oil more when we need to move to sustainable energy? What about how the majority of scientists say climate change is real and Trump said it was a lie created by China. I know someone in China right now, they have to wear masks regularly due to the smog levels. Those are problems. Not the other shit. Don't even get me started about how health care is still not a right but a privilege, and trump's plan is much worse than the affordable care act which people can't fucking stop calling obamacare.
Trump may have ties to Russia? * Looks at attack on the syrian government and the forces recently sent to Poland and the Baltic Countries" I think not.

I hate all of the soda/soft drink ads. They're so wanky and over the top. ITS JUST A BEVERAGE. Firstly, you know people will continue buying them so why even advertise. Secondly why don't you just say 'This is (insert beverage), it tastes great and is flavoured (insert flavour)". I just want a drink, not a life changing philosophical revelation!

just from what I seen it looked like they were doing a peace ad from the 60s but instead of putting a flower at the end of the gun, gave a Pepsi to a cop. idk. I didn't think it was horrible and definitely didn't need to be slammed. it just shows how overly sensitive people are now a days.
I absolutely agree and was thinking the same I'm surprised this comment isn't higher up or as liked as some of the other comnents that just articulate echoes of one with weaker footing than this one that gives a solid foothold for the same, I guess, side
If you actually are a car guy, Tokyo Drift is the best. Does the acting suck, yes, but the stunts are the most realistic and it uses CGI less than any of the other movies.
It was just another stupid, meaningless ad. The only people I understand getting upset over it are the ones doing it sarcastically. Also, Tokyo Drift was the best one.
This comment was very upsetting, the fact that you can't see the appalling display put on by overrated "celebrities" trying and failing to connect to an important movement just means you were probably stoned while watching Tokyo Drift. The first in a franchise is almost always the best The Fast and The Furious all the way.
brandy w. TLDR: Don't be so serious about things. Respect those who express themselves freely even if you don't respect what they do or believe. If they are negative, they are probably used to it and could use a little positivity or at least a friendly word. (Probably don't do too much. It's quite an adjustment.) If they are positive, don't just go ruining their moment of happiness for no reason. Be open to, instead, sharing your own thoughts in a healthy, unbiased and well thought out manner while being open to criticism, yourself. I hope you understand what I'm saying, but if you don't, I guess that's okay. Just keep it in mind. Not being able to take things in stride is often the reason why people tend to push those who can away. Don't take things so seriously. Not only are these kinds of messages impeding the positive message you are trying to promote, but you are alienating others who might otherwise be open to supporting you or your beliefs. Don't take things too seriously, or you will surely find a worse outcome because you weren't prepared to handle *teaching* your positive message instead of spouting it like a relentless fountain or ignoring those who could support you if given the chance, respect and patience all people deserve. You can modify your outlook on a person, but if you are not willing to treat them right, even if you are not treated right, you are simply fueling the fires. Society should not be run by taboos, but it should be run by rational thought, freedom of expression and conversation, collectively reaching an understanding, not of one person or idea being the right thing, but of many ideas together forming a complete picture of something, whether it is the world or a single aspect of it.
I have read and understand everything you said however anyone who thinks Tokyo Drift was a good movie is an utter monster and they should be stoned for having that opinion.
I honestly kind of prefer Pepsi, just cuz I work at Jimmy John's and we sell Coke and Cherry Coke and Diet Coke, and I'm kind of getting tired of the taste. But that's just me.
Its just in! The Standing Rock Frontline action packs should include: respirator, vest, nut cup, wet suit, shield, shin guards and most importantly.. a can of Pepsi. #JustTryingToProtectOurWaterButAllTheyWantIsOilandPepsi
XMizzTuraX commercializing REAL uprisings & movements that took place due to the EXXXTREME injustice, discrimination & racism in Amerikkka! In order for a talentless entitled girl, to sell a damn drink! Does that answer the question for you??
Same, and I don't really see why people want to relate this to the BLM mouvement, like... Is it because this was a march ? Because there was black people in the ad ? It was just a dumb ad, i'm tired of the internet being angry all the time, cmon people
I think the BLM movement is upset because they feel that this ad trivializes the reason and need for activism and protest. Also not every single protester is a rich skinny socialite.
I actually feel kinda bad for Pepsi??? They were trying to make something really positive. But unfortunately in this highly divided social context, people will push their own hatred and bias onto anything remotely political
janayethegreat it is san, like you said, maybe the intention behind it was good but the execution, even if the production value is actually quite good, was due to offend the perpetually offended. Maybe not the the intention but it is what it is. Yes, people, advertising is used to try and make money, would you see about that!
Phil, I know it's a few days late, but my opinion on this was just Pepsi modernizing the "Flower Power" from the Vietnam War protests into the present issues of equality and the negative outlook on police enforcement... with a can of Pepsi to signify peace and love.
Making UA-cam content isn't a real job. Some people got lucky, like people always do. It's a fad. I love people's creativity and art, dont' get me wrong. Gotta bleed for your art is all I'm saying.
Also thank you for covering the Uber driver story. So many people love to cover any bad drivers but none EVER talk about how bad the riders are! I have a camera in my car for this very reason! I hope she loses her Uber privileges.
That Uber-driver is an absolute saint. To stay this calm in the face of complete and utter crazy is just... impressive. VERY impressive. Kudos to you, sir.
Aditya Bhartiya Mathur I think the reason is because it seems like pepsi is being insensitive about the severity of current issues and people see Kendall handing the Pepsi to the officer as a gross simplification of issues involving police brutality. I think those people are ASSUMING a lot and getting mad over those assumptions. Was it a smart move for Pepsi? No. Is it that big of a deal, or offensive? In my opinion, no.
i guess these people are one of those professionally offended ones that get offended by everything. Whereas the majority of people are just memeing it, you know how people do at almost every instance.
f you really think that there was a real outrage, then you are in idiot. The internet is just peacefully mocking Pepsi and Kendall Jenner for expecting this ad to work.
Ricky Salazar I agree, it's the only one I can watch through all the way. not that it's good but it's entertaining in a way the other movies never manage to be.
I work in an advertising agency (I'm the grunt though) and my boss knows the people who worked on the pepsi ad. I was only eavesdropping mind you - I wasn't part of the actual conversation. But my boss said that he knew the people who made the video. Apparently they didn't focus group test the video and skipped a few other steps in the process to make sure it was okay and just went ahead with it, which is why it was such an embarassment.
it was an advertisement. the things most people arnt paying any attention to as they come across our screens. why are people digging so far into it, with the michael jackson one someone was actually being injured, i just dont understand why so many are wasting their time on this. its just another advertisement from a very large company, even if i had an opinion on it, nothing would happen to Pepsi anyway.
These days it seems that every ad has to pander to the politically correct. As a woman, I don't need nike or always to tell me that I can achieve. I know that I can and I don't understand why the separation needs to be drawn anymore. It's shallow! This is the reaction all of these ads should have.
You know people are fucked up when they skew a commercial advocating for diversity. Is it perfect? No, literally nothing is perfection doesn't exist. Get over yourselves.
Absolutely agree. It's fucking ridiculous how they had to pull the ad because people got offended. It's a fucking advertisement, I saw nothing wrong with it. People just want to be mad about anything and everything. All that money spent on that ad, plus the time and effort put into it, plus getting Kendall involved has all gone down the drain because idiots wanted to be offended over nothing.
I don't think you understand how the world works? I'd rather be ""outraged"" over other people's stupidity than be ""outraged"" at a commercial that isn't as bad as people are saying it is.
Welcome to the USA: land of the entitled, the lazy, and the lethargic... where lives have become so fucking dull, we have to criticize even the smallest trivial shit to pique and stimulate our interest. We are an embarrassment and we are so proud.
I can understand why they pulled the ad, but, personally I highly enjoyed it. I can't remember ever having laughed that hard at a commercial before. I'm not just saying that. Maybe it's because I haven't watched television for many years, but I can't remember a commercial affecting me quite like that before.
I think the reaction to that commercial was way dumber than the commercial itself. It's a fucking commercial, most of them are stupid and unrealistic anyway, why is that an issue now? And it's one thing to poke fun at it, but getting offended, suggesting boycotting, demanding apology and then not accepting it, are you serious? For some reason I didn't see hashtags related to attacks in Syria trending #1 on Twitter like Pepsi was... And I really felt bad for the cops, people were acting as if that cop was otherwise going to murder Kendall and all the black people around, and a can of Pepsi stopped him. But I agree, some memes that came out of it were really funny.
One. It involved Kendall Jenner a high profile celebrity that many young and mid aged people idolize. Therefore it is going to get A LOT of attention just from that. Two. Pepsi could not be that ignorant. This was the intention. To spark criticism and outrage so that people would keep talking about their product. Yes talk, not buy, but talk about it. THey wanted attention and they got it through insincere means
Saytan Vogula yeah, like i think the video is kind of pandering... but that's what all commercials do!! watch any coca cola ad around the Olympic Games and you'll see a barrage of athletes (Paralympic and Olympic to make sure that all their bases are covered) in those ads, clearly pandering to piggy back on this global celebration. it's called picking a target audience and knowing your demographic. it's not really pandering if you think about it, I'm only using that word to relate what is normal advertiser practice to what people are freaking out over
I didn't get any rage from people about this on twitter, mostly just mocking Pepsi for being so pandering and tone deaf. So yeah, we should be way more worried by Syria, for sure, but let people have fun giving Pepsi shit, it's what keeps us all sane.
Phil! You forgot Pepsi's other great ad blunder. When they sponsored Madonna's video for "Like a Prayer" It included upside down burning crosses! It was a huge problem for Pepsi bak then
Because pepsi ad is better discussion topic, it's debatable if it's good or bad or whatever. On the other hand what more can we say about Syria's situation? It's just terrible, sad and unacceptable. Hard to argue about that.
I actually love that pepsi ad and it saddens me that they removed it. I think it brought light to the need for unity and the want of people to protest. It actually reminds me of a photo from the Kent State shootings in 1970, where a male student put a flower in the barrel of a rifle held by a member of the National Guard.
I actually didn't mind the commercial. It shows that peaceful protesting can be powerful. Police are there to do their job, to make sure the protest doesn't get out of hand. By Kendall giving the coke to the police, it's almost like a peace offering, saying that they are peaceful and not crazy. I don't have a problem with protests, as long as they are peaceful.
Demon Killer peaceful protests exist, actually all protests are peaceful. The correct term is "peaceful *riots* don't exist" The moment a protest becomes violent it's a riot
David Lorenz yeh got a problem. I don't know why they hate the Kardashians and Jenner's so much I mean they are confident with themselves and they show it. Other celebs do the same think but their chickens and can't say to the media. So don't tell me on what I should say on an argument!
Ally Ella Ohh yes everyone is just sooo jealous of how good looking and rich they are.. OR Maybe people are just sick of b.s. celebs trying so damn hard to get attention/ be in the spotlight. When in reality they're talent-less, narrowminded, bubbleheads who only pretend to give two shits about their fans..
I was mostly a fan of the ad because of the unity and peace it was showing until the part of Kendall giving the riot police a Pepsi and suddenly everything was better because that part just sent the wrong message and oversimplified a large issue. I also do not like the idea of companies profiting off of movements but many companies do it, not just Pepsi, so I do not fault them for that
Thank you for making me think of the commercial in another way. I realise now that realism in an ad doesn't really matter. Obviously handing over a Coke to an officer won't peacify a protest. Pepsi, although not being a testimonial to communal compassion by selling a crappy unhealthy liquid, at least intended to ideologically promote unified rebelliousness. It just didn't foresee the satirical critique that it'd be bashed with.
The fact that people got offended over that dumb ad is so idiotic, the point was clearly to unite people. Would everyone be happy if the officers started gunning down the crowd instead?
is it that people don't have better things to do? I saw the pepsi ad and just laughed at how wierd to was. Yes it was in poor taste but it doesn't warrant all this hate and attention it's getting. People spend to much time on social media when they could be doing more productive things
Thank you for keeping in the laugh! I'm autistic, and I can have trouble reading tone, especially when it comes to parody and sarcasm, in verbal and text context. I personally was able to read the tone, but there's many who can't! It's something that is taken for granted a lot by non-autistic people. Keep doing what you do, Phil!
The Pepsi commercial didn't bother me any more than any other commercial. Sure, on the surface everything is peace, love, and unity, but the undertones are 'capitalism solves everything', 'consume more', 'respect authority', and 'reproduce for more capitalism and more happiness'.
Fuerzas Bro!
Venezuela's elections were rigged in favor of maduro which is fucking Venezuela up completely. The crime rate over there is crazy, people are starving, while Maduro and few close to them live like kings stealing everything from the country. Everyone is out fighting for a new Venezuela, one without a minimum wage of 30 cents an hour, food or an extremely high crime rate
I had no idea why ppl were outraged by this commercial and the commercial itself made absolutely no sense to me at all until Phillip started narrating over it. I accepted a long time ago that commercials don't have to make sense, they just need to throw a logo or product in your face. Again ppl need to stop wasting time being outraged by trivial matters. Side note: Philip, you should go into movie and commercial narrating. You have a great way of presenting your perspective to your listeners that's clear and grabs their attention.
Kendall Jenner Pepsi Ad - 0:06 Today In Awesome (I am Heath Ledger, Master on None, Honest Trailer Tokyo Drift, Invader Zim Returns, John Oliver on Marijuana) - 4:35 UA-cam TV - 5:47 Uber NYC Rant - 7:01 Trump/Bannon - 9:58 Bill O’Reilly & Trump - 11:11 Syria Attacks & Trump - 12:30
I like how the signs on the commercial side join the conversation, and people are not a conversation about it. I understand the controversy behind the commercial. But it is getting people to talk.
Thanks Pepsi. Because of you I saw Trump supporting Republicans and Liberal Democrats in a comment section where everyone put aside their differences to share jokes on how much they hate you. Well done Pepsi
When are you going to cover the Saint Petersburg attack? You've already covered the Syrian Gas Attack today which has less details and happend later than the bombing in Saint Petersburg...
I expect he will cover the story in the next few days because he is waiting for more information to come out. There is still a lot of confusion around that and usually in this situation Phil waits a few days and explains why
You have no idea how much I needed that Pepsi ad in my life. BEST AD EVER! ;)
Philip DeFranco garage skank
Philip DeFranco ly phil
ive always loved pepsi..
i dont see what the problem is, they made an ad representing all races and lifestyles. very confusing
lol I thought the exact same thing as you did about the commercial Phil. Though I have to admit, I had no idea that was Kendal Jenner, which doesn't make a difference to me at all really, I just thought I'd point out how out of touch I am these days... For some reason.

I hope so too
I'm not sure how it works for Uber, but with Lyft you actually can. You can rate your passenger and comment on their behavior
Uber lets you report people and behavior like this is grounds for terminating her Uber account.
hakuri ichigo it was always like that the same way white people say Mexican stealing there work and ish African American was always in bad terms with other black nations
He was a class act in the situation. I don't think I could have held out for 8 minutes of that.
I just want a parody ending where the cop takes the drink and the SWAT team fires anyway, a la the Watchmen version of the iconic Flower Power photo.
To be honest shit would have been more accurate.
yes that would be a funny spin on the modern day riots let it rain Pepsi!
The cops would be throwing cola tho.
Get that Pepsi outta my face. Citizen wouldn't step back, so I Tazed her.
First, People got offended over a starbucks cup, now a pepsi ad, First world problems at it's finest.
SacredSage my nigga

SHAME
elevateoheyo just imagine what dorito ads could do with that money :D
elevateoheyo omg I thought the exact same thing 😂
elevateoheyo I know I laughed my head off, I saw it and was like "guess there wasn't a single black person in that room when someone suggested this terrible scenario"?
Artliker1234 Pepsi doesn't employ white people. that's the story here
The ad did speak to me it said "I'm an ad, drink Pepsi" and I said "I prefer Dr. Pepper..."
twopowerful4u Diet Dr. Pepper is perfect.
Dr. Pepper is owned by Pepsi Co. :^)
ACTUALMIKU dr. pepper has some weird onwership. it is partly owned by Pepsi and coke while at the same time partly owned by itself. recently I do believe Pepsi owns the highest portion, but it is manufacted and bottled by dr. pepper Snapple Corp.
this has been the useless facts of the day.
Well apparently Pepsi Co does make the best soda, it's just not Pepsi.
ACTUALMIKU it's actually not owned by either it just has ties to both where they can be spelled with both coke and Pepsi products.
just replace Pepsi with marijuana and it's a great commercial
😂😂😂
* watches video while drinking a Pepsi product *
Oh.....
* slowly puts it away *
LOL
Equinox K haha..lol
Equinox K *slowly picks up drink...and walks away 🚶🚶🚶...*
Equinox K *Slowly Pours it in the sink*

VIVA LA PEPSIMAN!!!!!!!!
Pepsi tried to cater to the SJW's and others but ultimately failed to do so.
Then both sides banded to call out their BS in multiple ways...
Pepsi ultimately brought us all together surprisingly :D
The ad was so out of touch, it was unbearable.
The used such an out of touch perspective as well.
Personally as a person who makes fun of most protests (not all) it was such a horrible representation all around.
ReliantX Subliminal messaging lol
Pepsi apparently did their job lol
this situation seems a bit machiavallian to me imo
Tokyo Drift will always be the best F&F movie.
Agreed
second best next to the first one
What if it was a Pepsi awareness march and she just wanted to make sure they got hydrated...
William Kokiel Pepsi will not hydrate you
The King of all Awesomeness that's what they want you to think, why do you think they are having a Pepsi awareness march...duh...
I'm offended that Pepsi removed their ad b/c other people were offended
i'm offended that your offended.
anthony N I'm offended that your offended from him being offended
Henry R
I'm offended that you don't use you're instead of your
+Henry R I have no strong feelings one way or the other.
Jeremy Jenkins I think that person is going to be offended when reading your comment which offended me for you being offended for him/her over a mistake that offended me as well.
P.D: I'm offended at myself for assuming genders, so don't get offended by this comment cause that would be offensive and will offend me.
There are no Gingers in that commercial?! #GingerLivesMatter!
Splaxe drink a Pepsi
Splaxe you're not you when your hungry
**Drinks Pepsi**
Splaxe no soul = no matter
That's a bit harsh...
i dont like pepsi or coca cola..i love tea..
Pepsi Co is dirty. Just look at their actions within Colombia.
Coke is still worse though
+Ethan Burns the fuck is wrong with you? She never said coke was better. There's plenty of companies like Pepsi, Coke, Dole, Danone, etc. They're all ran by garbage human beings that doesn't take away or make the others better.
Ethan Burns i dont normally comment but i have to state that it is koch brothers and they are energy giants not coke soft drinks. lol
Ethan Burns what do you mean except? Theres no exception there. Pulling money from a healthcare bill doesnt come close to the shit they´ve pulled in 3rd world countries where they dont actually have to spend massive $ on lobbying.
Brian ̈T-Girl ̈ Ortega coke did prop up cocaine dealers in south america. so there is that.
when did people start wanting commercials to deliver massages? who's looking to the commercials for social change? people taking this, like everything else, way too seriously. we all know they're just trying to sell us their Shit, the best we could hope for is that maybe the adverts are entertaining? who needs more than that?
I completely agree with you.
If it was for something other than soda I would understand but like... it's just soda
I enjoy the massages I receive from commercials. Deep tissue and everything
agree so much
That commercial was just unnecessary pandering IMO.
And thus Pepsi lighting Michael Jackson on fire created The first LIT meme
I think what some people are missing about the ad is that it trivializes the efforts and experiences of protesters and activists. The ad was practically saying "all it takes is Pepsi to make a movement powerful!" which was ridiculous.
I don't see any racial messages in that ad at all and can't see how people are tying it into a black lives matter thing.
Also Kendall Jenner is a rich white girl who has a seemingly great life. She is not someone who would be seen in a real protest over real issues and that just made the ad pretty insulting to those who actually feel the need to go out and protest for their rights and safety.
This is hilarious. You just can't win nowadays. "not enough colour", "too much colour". Make up your fucking minds.
This is why I feel I wasted 8 years of my life studying advertising. Now days just breathing is freaking offensive for people. Sad, sad.
I agree. I think the poster Philly D talked about yesterday is more reasonable for people to be offended by.
XD I will have to go watch it :3
I'm pretty positive more people found it more stupid than offensive
ニコル no this is actually offensive. Quit your bitching, it's pretty simple. Things that people have literally died horrible death from, don't try to capitalize it, especially if it's ongoing. You're Asian if Sprite made a fun commercial of how thousands of people wouldn't have been eradicated by a nuclear bomb if Hiroshima officials had sent the US some sprite I'm sure you'd be able to show some sort of emotion. Or how women in China blew soldiers during the war just to feed their families? "Here's a pop mister don't fuck me in the ass"
I swear people only give a shit when it directly offends them and talk carelessly, like being a decent person is such a fucking chore.
huh I thought they were protesting about companies removing their ads from youtube.
MadMrCrazy 3 edgy 5 me
Pepsi owned up and apologized. That's not something you see everyday with people nowadays.
Why is everything so easy to be offended by.
Örlogskapten more like why do people get so offended
Örlogskapten weaboo
Loke Carlgren You are a swede attacking another swede for being a swede?
Örlogskapten Because we're spoiled, we don't realize how easy we have it
Örlogskapten cause people are easily offended
i so wish that the woman in the uber watches this show so she can see how insane she is.
She'd probably just scream at the screen 😄
caleb woodward she probably just watches Fox News
Sorry women who claim false rape tend to be feminist who tends to lean Dem and despise fox news. So more like watches msnbc.
Chippy Pippy nope, historically those right wingers would claim that blacks had raped white women and then beat them to death
She was talking about Donald Trump saying get the fuck out of my country. So she is likely a republican. An exceptionally stupid one, but still a republican.
I hate all of the soda/soft drink ads. They're so wanky and over the top. ITS JUST A BEVERAGE. Firstly, you know people will continue buying them so why even advertise. Hayley S yeah they're commercials are always so extra
Might wanna direct your attention to real issues here lol.
inbrud1111 the real issue being they made a wild commercial that probably had a huge budget just for a soda.......
they used to do that way back it was called the pepsi challenge
Hayley S a beer company tried not marketing since "everyone who drinks our beer is basically a regular, right?" And their sales TAAAAANKED. So yes, brands need to market most of the time.
just from what I seen it looked like they were doing a peace ad from the 60s but instead of putting a flower at the end of the gun, gave a Pepsi to a cop. idk. I didn't think it was horrible and definitely didn't need to be slammed. it just shows how overly sensitive people are now a days.
Mary Lundy I had same thoughts. had more in common to that protest esp considering they used Bob marleys grandsons music in this ad
I liked it, but how is it more realistic than the first?
Car people will consider the first 3 the best movies. The franchise is pretty much unrecognizable these days.
skillzorz101
you can't drive under a semi truck.
The fact that they had a Lykan in their movie was disgusting to me.
There is less CGI than the first and more of the stunts were actually performed without the cars getting utterly destroyed then driving off
It was just another stupid, meaningless ad.
The first in a franchise is almost always the best The Fast and The Furious all the way.
brandy w. The theme song to Tokyo Drift is the greatest thing to come out of the entire franchise.
TimeOmnivore Tokyo Drift is the best one! well, ties with the first one.
Coca-Cola's still better
Alex Tekle hell yeah
Alex Tekle both are disgusting
I honestly kind of prefer Pepsi, just cuz I work at Jimmy John's and we sell Coke and Cherry Coke and Diet Coke, and I'm kind of getting tired of the taste. But that's just me.
Alex Tekle or u could drink water instead of that black tar
FAX 👌
I'm offended that people are offended so easily these days, doesn't matter why, it's offensive to me and that's what matters!
Also that hoody looks hella comfy, and it's offensive I don't have one....
chzball1522 wtf
chzball1522 im offended that you're offended
Wait :........ BURNED MICHAEL JACKSON??!!
Priya Kang Yeppers.
how do you not know that?
Yes
Its just in! The Standing Rock Frontline action packs should include: respirator, vest, nut cup, wet suit, shield, shin guards and most importantly.. a can of Pepsi.
#JustTryingToProtectOurWaterButAllTheyWantIsOilandPepsi
I watched the ad and spent the whole time going "I don't understand why this is offensive"
XMizzTuraX commercializing REAL uprisings & movements that took place due to the EXXXTREME injustice, discrimination & racism in Amerikkka! In order for a talentless entitled girl, to sell a damn drink! Does that answer the question for you??
XMizzTuraX because people don't like Kendall basically lol
MrsLegit Parttwo You would've been way more useful if only you were back in the past.
not sure what about the ad made me cringe but the response was so great i wish it was still up for the comments section
Same, and I don't really see why people want to relate this to the BLM mouvement, like... Is it because this was a march ? Because there was black people in the ad ? It was just a dumb ad, i'm tired of the internet being angry all the time, cmon people
Of course that uber driver acted the way he did, he's married. He switched to husband mode.
sillyitis LOL!! Nice!!
sillyitis 😂😂😂😂
sillyitis If my wife ever spoke to me in that manner I would go Islam on her.
Justin Hutchings well shit
^^ ^^ Hence Husband mode.
I think the BLM movement is upset because they feel that this ad trivializes the reason and need for activism and protest. Also not every single protester is a rich skinny socialite.
Jennifer Cox look how red you look.....
They should have passenger ratings for Uber. It could weed out the crazy people.
Thank you so much for covering Syria- this is why you're the best! So many news outlets have ignored this, thank you so much!
I actually feel kinda bad for Pepsi??? They were trying to make something really positive. But unfortunately in this highly divided social context, people will push their own hatred and bias onto anything remotely political
+
No they want money you forget the world
janayethegreat it is san, like you said, maybe the intention behind it was good but the execution, even if the production value is actually quite good, was due to offend the perpetually offended. Maybe not the the intention but it is what it is.
Yes, people, advertising is used to try and make money, would you see about that!
agreed
janayethegreat I don't, they removed adds on youtube. they are cancer, if you ask me.
Phil, I know it's a few days late, but my opinion on this was just Pepsi modernizing the "Flower Power" from the Vietnam War protests into the present issues of equality and the negative outlook on police enforcement... with a can of Pepsi to signify peace and love.
Love the show Philip DeFranco. Wish more people would be like you. Is there ever an episode where we don't just jump right into it?
One time he said dive right into it, and the comments wouldn't shut up about it, so is jump forever now.
Pepsi deserves it for pulling their ads off UA-cam further hurting content creators
Sarah H And supporting the genocide of Elephants appearantly
The fuck you on about, kid?? Advertisers don't owe UA-cam content creators a damn penny. Don't act like such an entitled little shit.
Amen!!!
Making UA-cam content isn't a real job. Some people got lucky, like people always do. It's a fad. I love people's creativity and art, dont' get me wrong. Gotta bleed for your art is all I'm saying.
Josue Martinez they make more money then you do bud
we should all stick to good old H2O
spicy noodles That's what I drink. Of course I add coffee, but close enough.
Sharon Sloan is that good coffee?? you better not be slacking with instant coffee
spicy noodles Nespresso pods. Loads of different flavours, and the darker the colour of the pod, the stronger it is.
Sharon Sloan That's some next level coffee.
spicy noodles water sucks
Also thank you for covering the Uber driver story. So many people love to cover any bad drivers but none EVER talk about how bad the riders are! I have a camera in my car for this very reason! I hope she loses her Uber privileges.
That Uber-driver is an absolute saint. To stay this calm in the face of complete and utter crazy is just... impressive. VERY impressive. Kudos to you, sir.
I actually liked the message in that pepsi commercial even that it's cringy
Agreed. It was a good message that was poorly executed.
like why were people outraging over the Pepsi ad?
I don't have the energy to care about the Pepsi ad - do these people not have anything better to do with their time? ^^;
Aditya Bhartiya Mathur I think the reason is because it seems like pepsi is being insensitive about the severity of current issues and people see Kendall handing the Pepsi to the officer as a gross simplification of issues involving police brutality.
The internet is just peacefully mocking Pepsi and Kendall Jenner for expecting this ad to work.
some people were still hating on them removing ads on youtube
It blows my mind that people CANT find the decency in themselves to be respectful to strangers, especially one that is serving you.
Tokyo drift is the best F&F movie, and it's not even close
Ricky Salazar I agree, it's the only one I can watch through all the way. not that it's good but it's entertaining in a way the other movies never manage to be.
That uber driver deserves an award. I would like to be trained by him on patience, lol
Respect to the driver for dealing with that crap in a respectable, level-headed way.
Hold up, Invader Zim is coming back and you're just gonna gloss over that?!
Hey Arnold's coming back, Samurai Jack is back. Good year for nostalgia
LlamaMinister
they can either fuck it up or continue their greatness.
Here's to hoping they don't fuck up royally.
LlamaMinister the new Powerpuff girls!
i mean, i'm probably in the minority here, but that show gave me nightmares as a kid.
That ad was probably one of the most inoffensive "controversial" ads I've seen.
if Pepsi wants to be hip and cool, they should bring back Pepsiman
people need to start fighting the the fights that matter.
it was an advertisement. the things most people arnt paying any attention to as they come across our screens. why are people digging so far into it, with the michael jackson one someone was actually being injured, i just dont understand why so many are wasting their time on this. its just another advertisement from a very large company, even if i had an opinion on it, nothing would happen to Pepsi anyway.
These days it seems that every ad has to pander to the politically correct. As a woman, I don't need nike or always to tell me that I can achieve. I know that I can and I don't understand why the separation needs to be drawn anymore. It's shallow! This is the reaction all of these ads should have.
Chaotic Causes That's exactly right my friend
You know people are fucked up when they skew a commercial advocating for diversity. Is it perfect? No, literally nothing is perfection doesn't exist. Get over yourselves.
Absolutely agree. It's fucking ridiculous how they had to pull the ad because people got offended. It's a fucking advertisement, I saw nothing wrong with it. People just want to be mad about anything and everything. All that money spent on that ad, plus the time and effort put into it, plus getting Kendall involved has all gone down the drain because idiots wanted to be offended over nothing.
Shelsea Cuevas you guys are hilarious, you're outraged over others outrage. You're just as bad. How about everybody stfu.
But I agree, some memes that came out of it were really funny.
why do people even pay attention to ads?
Saytan Vogula FINALLY somebody with intelligence
Pepsi - UA-cam is too controversial for us
Pepsi - Hey, good idea, let's make a political Ad
The most offensive thing about the ad is that it had a Kardashian/Jenner involved.
Phil! You forgot Pepsi's other great ad blunder. When they sponsored Madonna's video for "Like a Prayer" It included upside down burning crosses! It was a huge problem for Pepsi bak then
What's a good name for my new dog? He's a boxer
balboa
James Burgess George Foreman
James Burgess Rocky
Mike Tython.
James Burgess Boxxy...
Chemical attack in Syria but ya'll care more about a Pepsi ad and Kendall?
Jil whoelse this is exactly what I was thinking
Because pepsi ad is better discussion topic, it's debatable if it's good or bad or whatever. On the other hand what more can we say about Syria's situation? It's just terrible, sad and unacceptable. Hard to argue about that.
#VirtueSignaling
Jil whoelse I don't give a shit about Syria. I care about my country
RAD TRNS yes we do belive that finding out who gassed and killed children in syria is far more important that people rioting over thugs dying lmao
Steve Bannon is Shooter McGavin. Mark my words.
So he eats shit for breakfast?
skillzorz101 n-n-nooooooo!!
NinjaNeroRain Steve Bannon looks like the horseman of pestilence WTF is his face
I actually love that pepsi ad and it saddens me that they removed it. I think it brought light to the need for unity and the want of people to protest. It actually reminds me of a photo from the Kent State shootings in 1970, where a male student put a flower in the barrel of a rifle held by a member of the National Guard.
When did ads become worthy of serious critique?
Spencer Shute be glad that the 1800s-1950s commercials will forever stay in those eras...
if people are doing this about Pepsi *-oh gosh-*
I think the real question is why does Pepsi still make ads? I think everyone in the world knows what the fuck Pepsi is
people have to be reminded of their brand loyalty. Same thing with Anheuser Busch in and around the St. Louis area and such.
I think it's more of jogging a person's craving for a particular drink over another to stimulate sales.
0:55 "Error 404. Ass not found"
I actually didn't mind the commercial.
The correct term is "peaceful *riots* don't exist"
The moment a protest becomes violent it's a riot
I dislike the ad because a Kardashian is in it. Haven't their 15 minutes run out yet?
she's not a Kardashian
Ally Ella
That's what you base your argument on? Seriously?
David Lorenz yeh got a problem. I don't know why they hate the Kardashians and Jenner's so much I mean they are confident with themselves and they show it. Other celebs do the same think but their chickens and can't say to the media. So don't tell me on what I should say on an argument!
Kelli Buckley she's been famous since she was a fetus lmao
Ally Ella Ohh yes everyone is just sooo jealous of how good looking and rich they are.. OR Maybe people are just sick of b.s. celebs trying so damn hard to get attention/ be in the spotlight. When in reality they're talent-less, narrowminded, bubbleheads who only pretend to give two shits about their fans..
"I have been to the mountain top, there is a Pepsi Machine" -MLK
Tokyo Drift is the Fucking Best One!!!!
I thumbsed up all my previous comments.
And this one.
Gary Winehouse self love
Those uneven sweater strings are driving me insane!!!
That Uber driver is a personal hero of mine.
The Pepsi commercial didn't bother me any more than any other commercial. Sure, on the surface everything is peace, love, and unity, but the undertones are 'capitalism solves everything', 'consume more', 'respect authority', and 'reproduce for more capitalism and more happiness'.
okay honestly the best part of today's pds was "why the fuck is the cat using the account?"
I hope that uber driver filed a report against her. Too many women like her pull out their crazy cards and end up getting away with this shit.
The Pepsi ad is stupid pandering but what else is new? Have you seen any Cike ad of the past year? It's noting different. It's called marketing
Please talk about What is happening in Venezuela and in Ecuador!
x Tuma yeah thats a way to see it I guess but it is much more than just "riot shit" so to speak.
Gino Kronfle what's happening there? I know Venezuela is a complete shithole with its hospitals and stuff but that's nothing new.
Gino Kronfle tomorrow we going out again :), what's happening in Ecuador tho? I'm sorry I don't know
Fuerzas Bro!
Kendall Jenner Pepsi Ad - 0:06
Today In Awesome (I am Heath Ledger, Master on None, Honest Trailer Tokyo Drift, Invader Zim Returns, John Oliver on Marijuana) - 4:35
UA-cam TV - 5:47
Uber NYC Rant - 7:01
Trump/Bannon - 9:58
Bill O’Reilly & Trump - 11:11
Syria Attacks & Trump - 12:30
Didn't you hear? Protesting and drinking Pepsi is the cool young hip thing now.
When isn't Trump blaming democrats or Obama/Clintons when things go wrong?
I like how the signs on the commercial side join the conversation, and people are not a conversation about it. I understand the controversy behind the commercial. But it is getting people to talk.
Thanks Pepsi. Because of you I saw Trump supporting Republicans and Liberal Democrats in a comment section where everyone put aside their differences to share jokes on how much they hate you.
Well done Pepsi
A common enemy unites our collective stupidity. ;P
Well, at least Pepsi owned up for their mistakes and apologized for what they did wrong.
Unlike *cough United Airlines *cough
I find it insulting that you think cats can't use computers.
Back in my day, when people didn't like something they saw on the tv they would just turn it off...
Pepsi. Just don't care. Bees are going on the endangered list. Pepsi is not remotely on my radar.
Phili pls talk about Venzuela. We need the media!!
When are you going to cover the Saint Petersburg attack? You've already covered the Syrian Gas Attack today which has less details and happend later than the bombing in Saint Petersburg...
+
AK40CHICKEN he said in the last video that some tooics hes avoidig until he has a studio again. so im guessing thats why.
I expect he will cover the story in the next few days because he is waiting for more information to come out. There is still a lot of confusion around that and usually in this situation Phil waits a few days and explains why
+shaielani but it's been three days and he's covered attacks in Syria that had happened later
Cristina P But there is a lot of confusion around the gas attack as well. So why cover one but not the other.
I am 51 years old and I was extremely impressed that you brought up the Pepsi/MJ thing.
