Hi, I practice aikido aikikai and have the 3rd kyu and here I see lot of similarities, some elements of aikido techniques, but this hapkido is more practical, almost without enters, more initiative, more powerful which means you have to use more power, it have I think an aspect of winning/win, more like djudo. I’d glad to try it (hapkido) one day and try to deal it with my aikido skills. While, aikido is more about Japan culture, all these bokkens and hakamas, zen-philosophy, harmony with people. This hapkido reminds me about Yosinkan aikido of Gozo Sioda as I know it. I glad to see it, it approves that aikido is about some universal thing which you can do with human body. I think it can be said 1)hapkido is a Korean (?) aikido or more proach to original ju-jutsu and 2)it works. Though I’ve already saw a long time ago a video ‘why blocks just don’t work’ or like that by a policeman and there also were some similarities to aikido. Greetings from Russia, we also try to save practical part of aikido.
