- How do you know if your motorcycle helmet is safe? How are they tested and what are the regulations. Tegan and Ross recently visited Crashlab to find out.
You cab check out the results of the helmet testing at www.motocap.com.au

Amazing video!! really puts into perspective why crash testing matters so much. Thanks for sharing this 😁
Thanks for that. Agree, really great that there are places like Crashlab doing these kinds of tests for us.
What an insightful video, thanks for this!
Glad it was helpful!
Seriously, one of the best, useful and important videos for motorcyclists I’ve seen. Thank you for this production.
Cheers, Andy
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Awesome job, Dev and team! What a fantastic video-really appreciate getting a “behind the scenes” look at all the hard work that goes into ensuring motorcyclist safety.
Agree, really great work being done by Dev and the team at Crashlab. Thanks for watching, great to hear you liked the video
Great Vlog Ross very informative what every motorcyclist should know 👍
Thanks John, yes we agree, important info in there for all motorcyclists
Wow, my i90 has a four star rating? Wouldn't have guessed that!
Nice choice of helmet
All well and good for the government to have stickers for helmets. Rather defeats the purpose when imported helmets can have any sticker for any test, in any language if you order them from China. Further I doubt there's many riders looking to buy a new helmet made in 2018.
I would also question the validity of some of the tests. The first test for helmet security looks more like a way to snap someones neck, than a test to gauge it's ability to remain on your head. The impact drop test and the test also is questionable. Dropping a helmet from on to one small point of impact might tell you it wont get cracked or deformed when a rider falls vertically.
It doesn't measure how much the impact of a 110 kg rider in leathers, more if they're wet, getting slapped by the impact of a supermarket delivery truck at 70 kmh, will jog their noggin.
In Australia, retailers can only sell a helmet if it meets the standards and regulations. If you choose to order a helmet from overseas that doesn’t meet the regulations then I suppose that’s your choice. In terms of the tests they run, they have all been researched and approved by smarter people than me. Keep in mind we are just showing a short snippet of the tests they run.
What a shock to see the best helmets for safety don't have a stupid internal sun visor. Who would have thought that reducing internal layers of protection would reduce the safety of a helmet.
Yes interesting
@@MrRadialdrift well problem is I really hate Arai cause its overrated and hate the design and Shoei. I would love the option of internal sun visor for my HJC
Are the MotoCAP test procedures in any way similar to respective US/EU regulations/Tests?
Yes they are, very similar testing
in the EU is a new helmet norm/standard with improved testings.
the old ECE 22.05 is over 20 years old, the new is ECE 22.06
That’s correct. In fact I believe Australia has some of the most stringent testing in the world.
Shoei isn't what it once was.
I’d be interested to hear what makes you say that? I personally don’t wear a Shoei, but have a few mates who do and they seem happy with them?
So what is the website to see results?
Oops, meant to add that to the description, www.motocap.com.au
@@BikerTorque site has been down for a long time unfortunately :(
Not sure about that. We filmed this segment way back in February and have been checking the MotoCap site since then, no issues, always comes up
Click bait. Dislike and move on.
Not exactly sure how it’s clickbait, but thanks for stopping by and commenting
