I know one awaken middle-class family who got their son married through registered wedding in court. Small gathering of closest friends for dinner in a restaurant and done. Total expenditure. 25,000 rupees. Both bride and groom families are worth 10 to 15 crores. And yet. Then there are those who get into lavish weddings taking huge loans they keep paying for the rest of their lives.
This thought process is better than most of the comment where they blame parents for loans/expenditure/keeping eye on expenditure IIT IIM sons post marriage. @@dreamsdesires You only have one option - Try to talk to your husband and explain to him that his family members are not in favor of his own family (wife+children) and will always be competing for resources. The resources (money and time) that he gives away to his birth family, it’s the same resources being taken away from wife and children. This will not be a one day talk. This will have to be a constant point of talking with the husband and may even take a few years. Another thing you can do is confront his family directly. Tell them that you are done helping them out and they need to help themselves out. The more you enable this behavior the more your husband will get taken advantaged of. Try and impose boundaries with them. They should very clearly know that you are not okay with them exploiting their son this way. He has been trained his whole life to be enmeshed in a very dysfunctional way with his family. Reprogramming will take some time. If he is just so programmed that he won’t even let you oppose this then unfortunately you will have to put down your boundaries with him too. Maybe consider separating from him. These kind of expenses are the parent's responsibility but they make fool of both the kids. They promise the girl a lavish wedding on the brother's expense and they promise the brother their whole property in inheritance which he'll get when he's in his late 50s so until then the parents have a strong reason to control him. This is a form of financial abuse that men suffer from. I've seen this among a few relatives.

The unsuccessful family members(parents, siblings) then intentionally hate the spouse of such a IIT/IIM boy because they know that if he is closer to his wife, they won’t be able to extract all the money from him. Therefore they try as much possible to cause rift between him and his wife. This is their play. And the wife’s life get ruined.

@@dreamsdesires You only have one option - Try to talk to your husband and explain to him that his family members are not in favor of his own family (wife+children) and will always be competing for resources. The resources (money and time) that he gives away to his birth family, it’s the same resources being taken away from wife and children. This will not be a one day talk. This will have to be a constant point of talking with the husband and may even take a few years. Another thing you can do is confront his family directly. Tell them that you are done helping them out and they need to help themselves out. The more you enable this behavior the more your husband will get taken advantaged of. Try and impose boundaries with them. They should very clearly know that you are not okay with them exploiting their son this way. He has been trained his whole life to be enmeshed in a very dysfunctional way with his family. Reprogramming will take some time. If he is just so programmed that he won’t even let you oppose this then unfortunately you will have to put down your boundaries with him too. Maybe consider separating from him. Either he cares for you and his children or he will be a forever slave to his family. You can make him choose
But on the opposite side even our spouses should not have the mentality of making the boy a GANNA, as it is in majority of cases where the spouse has only single agenda i.e. of maximizing their own benefit by extracting resources from the naïve boy

Very good video sir. Another thing is if the boy has a sister, he's forced to spend a huge chunk in her wedding too. Aisa hai to kanyadan bhi usi se karwa do. These kind of expenses are the parent's responsibility but they make fool of both the kids. They promise the girl a lavish wedding on the brother's expense and they promise the brother their whole property in inheritance which he'll get when he's in his late 50s so until then the parents have a strong reason to control him. This is a form of financial abuse that men suffer from. I've seen this among a few relatives.
