In 2019 I had my colostomy surgery because I was having trouble doing my bowel routine. Shortly after my gastroenterologist suggested doing stoma Irrigation and it is a game changer! I have little to no output in between and it’s such a relieving feeling when I empty. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks for watching.
Hey man I'm scheduled for a colostomy because I'm at my wit's end with my neurogenic bowel controlling my life - but I asked both my small town general surgeon and my big city specialist surgeon about this and they both basically said "I just do the cutting." I've heard some appliances have changed or been discontinued, are you still doing this and can I ask which products you use?

@@ThisIsWheelLife ok. I'd like to use a plug or a cap. Am I doing the right thing? My current situation is untenable but this isn't exactly ideal either. I only recently started trying to get laid again and it's going way better than I expected and I don't want a poop sack! But on the other hand I could use the time and energy to make more money and get all muscular. Tough choice man.
I had cancer and ended up with a permanant stoma 5 weeks ago and i have been told i can irrogate soon, i know its early days but i am not sure about it.
Do you know the website that you buy your supplies from? What is one of those bags called and the thing that goes in your stoma if you don't mind telling me please sir. I have been paralyzed for 13 years C3 - C7 incomplete and here recently I have been having being trapped inside my rectum and colon which causes severe pain and I have been putting off a colostomy bag for 3 years because I am afraid that it will smell bad or look bad, but I already have a bladder diversion which now I just keep a catheter in it because it is easier. I'm pretty sure that's how I would start to feel about the colostomy bag. If I choose to get one which I will probably have no other option.
@@ThisIsWheelLife Did you start irrigating because you kept getting constipated? I am 10 days post colostomy surgery, and only had little movement when they used fleet enimas since and im super bloated, so they havent released me from hospital yet... wondering if this is what we need to try...
@@benperson yes I was getting backed up, but my problem was I wasn’t drinking enough water think of it like it’s hard to go down a waterslide without water on it. But as soon as they clear you for irrigation I would try it, you can actually probably contact or have your doctor order the supplies so they’re ready for you when you get home
@@ThisIsWheelLife thanks for that, so I'm 14 days post surgery today, and no result other than 3x fleet enimas they have put in have come out liquid, tried irrigation today with a nurse, 750ml in and dirty liquid came out but that's it and she wouldn't do more... How many flushes do you do, I'm desperate to get it working I've eaten loads and laxatives etc... What would you do?

Here to support ya! Have a good day!
Hell yeah thanks man!
This is very interesting, my grandfather had to use one near the end of his life. I never knew how it worked
Same here my grandpa had colon cancer and had to have one. He was definitely my driving inspiration
Thanks for this video. I’m having colostomy next week. This could help me if i have a hard time. Thanks!
You’re welcome man! Good luck with your surgery!

I try for every 24 hours but normally every 48 depending on diet of course. Thanks for watching
Maybe I missed it in the video but how often are you doing this? I got a colostomy about three weeks ago and have had a tough time with it so far
You know what I didn’t mention it sorry about that. but I do it every other day usually.
With doing the irrigation how often does the bag fill up with fecal matter?
How often do you do this irritation? Everyday day?
About every other day. Once in a while I will do it back to back two days in a row if I feel I need to
