I bought a 20 inch Bronksonic color tv DVD...VHS Combo in 2002. It's had a fair amount of use over the years, is a cheap product. Yet, it's never had any issues, the crt is still strong, color excellent. AND, if their is no signal, it gets snow, and NO SOUND. self mutes till it receives a signal. The old radio is probably from the late 50s. Did you check to make sure the power cord was connected to the chassis? They can be disconnected and just need to be pushed back on.
That Electrohome Creston is about 1956. I would have grabbed it, but i have a thing for those old tube radios. You don't see too many of those out and about.
I like that old valve radio, i would have bought it and had lots of fun trying to get it working!!.
Valve radios are really cool just wish I knew more about electronic repair
That Toshiba CRT set may not have been broken. Higher tier brands would automatically mute the sound if no signal.
Hmmm 🤔 that’s an interesting point, thanks
@@Thriftronics yes i was just going to say that i think most later model tv's muted the static $12 is a good price maybe you can go back & get it.

@@Thriftronics I have one of these. Can confirm! The picture is fantastic for a CRT, too.

Wow didnt think it was that old thanks for the comment
That TV might be one that mutes the sound when there's no signal. I crossed paths with one recently. It works fine.
Someone else said same, next time I will try check that thanks
