I started by exercising 3 times a week, eating healthier, and removing myself from people I allowed to use and abuse me mentally. I finally feel Good in my own skin. I am the complete opposite of that so hearing you say to create my own pretty privilege really makes me feel better because for so long I thought what’s the point in trying to look pretty if I’ll never look like them

Yep, relatable. I thought I was proud to be my tomboyish ungirly self. "Not like other girls" like you said. But it actually just made me depressed and lazy... I'm a recovering hater of myself too. There's nothing embarrassing about being female. That's what we are! I'm realizing how cringey it was to pretend I was "different" in totally a bad way. Lol.
New to your channel and I'm so appreciating the content you put out. Helps me reconnect to my childhood, when I loved reading "diaries of a princess" books, and dressing up when there was occasion. I practically begged my Mom to teach me embroidery! 😆. But over the years, the encouragement was more towards developing smarts -- I became a history & literature buff, and became known by my friends as a walking 📚encyclopedia.😅. While that's great, I very much also became that stereotypical "nerdy girl" in movies, who has the capacity to glow up, but doesn't know how. Not to mention not having a clue about how to talk to a guy I like (if spotted by an attractive guy, I've been known to turn my back and simply pretend he didn't exist until the moment passed 😂)! I had to teach myself 🖌️makeup skills in my earlier twenties (consequently becoming the butt of many jokes in my fairly intellectual household 😅). But now that I've found my look, all the female members of my family come to me when they want their makeup perfected! Now, I'm way along my glow up journey, and it's so great to bump into a community like this, where that isn't "put down". To me trying to conform into those current beauty standards is only a sign of wanting constant attention and going viral on social media. But those are fleeting trends, for ten years big butts trend, then there comes skinny, sickly trend. People start to look the same, same nose, same eye shape, same hair color, same body shape. I wonder what's next? It causes people to lose their originality and authenticity. What makes me feel sad is this willing society, who don't know its potential and beauty and try so hard to fit into those unattainable, unrealistic norms. Beauty is a mindset, it can't be classified, can't be compartmentalized or checked like a grocery list looking at people. It makes me feel bad sometimes seeing some super models or k pop beauty ideals but i always trust and respect myself, i respect myself enough to both appreciate beautiful women and still love myself.
I would love to do this. But my job is very masculine. I find myself dressing in big sweaters or sloppy to avoid looks. I would love to wear cute clothes. But I work outside a lot in the woods as a scientist. Being feminine isn’t so easy. And I work with a lot of older men and don’t want their attention. I guess I can incorporate after work. I am an attractive person with a nice body and am still in my thirties but I guess I got use to trying to hide myself to avoid being looked at. How can I get out of that mindset?
