Thank you for this video, I was able to go to Boston Massachusetts and see the monument, it is very beautiful and very well made. As a black man, and a artist, I was very proud to see all of the black soldiers, and the general sculpted so well in this Monument, and I know that they all fought so bravely. May they all RIP. 🌿🍁🌷🌺🌹⚘

We have a plaster cast of the life mask at Saint Gaudens National Historical Park where I work as a ranger. I use the life mask regularly in my programs. Thanks for filling in a couple of small gaps in my research of the Volk story. Unfortunately, the Google scan is missing 2 pages of the story and some of what is there is fuzzy and hard to read. Come visit us in New Hampshire!

Look for the book ‘From Chalk to Bronze’ about sculptor Waldine Tauch. A great read.

Don't they have this mask at the MET in New York? Did the MET borrow it? I have a picture with it, myself. I could swear it is the same mask. PROUD OF IT...

It is the mask at the Met! They own this particular one, although there are lots of casts of the same mask floating around in different museums. The Met's is noteworthy for being one of the set that were cast by Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
