I realized that in the last few weeks I haven't uploaded any videos, the reason is that I'm having many concerts with my ensemble Murmur Mori and just as I was about to play at the Certosa in Florence last sunday, inside the bookshop Silvia Kuro found this incredible record and after having purchased and listened to it I realized the great playing quality as well as the rarity of the recording.
This performance of the Ludus Danielis, which I have already spoken about at length here: • Ludus Danielis, Dramma... , is curated by the "Pro Musica Firenze" complex with the "Fontegara Consort" directed by Valente Gori. A true gem created in 1995 and completely absent in the world of the web. I did some research and managed to find very little, but from the album booklet I can report that the Pro Musica group boasts a great repertoire that begins with Gregorian chant and then moves on to polyphony and madrigals, reaching up to 18th century repertoires. The Fontegara consort, on the other hand, is made up of musicians who, starting from the 90s of the last century, have collaborated with fundamental ensembles of ancient music and under the direction of maestro René Clemencic have created the first complete recording of Giovanni Gabrieli's works “Canzoni e sonate per sonar con ogni sorte de instrumenti”.
