Ground reality is a bit different bro, not everyone is a born enthusiast, doesn't want to learn / understand the niche & dynamics of a Manual drive. So Automatic transmission is a convenience based choice if budget permits, especially in tier 1 city traffic conditions.
Also, buying an old car initially for a couple of years is a thing of the past, because 7 years old cars are being sold at 70-85% of the cost of a new car. This is a main issue driving new buyers to new car market.
Buying higher end - Turbo, Top end, more electronics, etc., is due to easy access and affordable loans 😬
Most people learn to drive comfortably within 15 days to 1 or 2 months...if we buy a small car and then upgrade to a bigger one, it would definitely be a lose... also now a days even small cars are costly... Hence it is better to invest a small money in a good driving school eventhough if we have a license and then a buy a car of their actual need...

I initially had this issue, now i can manage. drive slowly in low traffic roads and residential areas ( you'll gain confidence and then you can proceed with highways, then bumper to bumper)
Sorry to say Brother. Looks like you are still in the olden days. The video seems to be misleading & the discussions are totally off the track. They seem to be discouraging & are not related to the topic specified. In this gen, It is not mandatory that a new car buyer/ 1st time car buyer shoud buy a "budget car" & then opt for a "premium car". If the buyer is affordable & confident in his driving skills, they can buy any premium car (JDM/German/American Muscle) of their choice.
FYI, New car buyer these days are looking for features, convenience, luxury & peaceful ownership. They are not interested in driving dynamics/ gear mechanism by experiencing used cars/ budget cars.
However this is not the same for a Car Enthusiast as they are mainly focussed on handling, steering feedback & performance. Due to the lifestyle changes & rise in car loans, the buying decision has changed, people nowadays are not concerned about mileage. People are opting for a new car rather than buying a used car. It is all the matter of Affordability. As rightly said by GS, There is nothing wrong for a new car buyer buying a VW/ Skoda / any premium car unless the buyer understands about the car, usage & service maintenance.
