Absolutely was brilliant omg brings back memories shadwell was my favourite just so funny it was on BBC 2 i think around 10 at night never missed it other comedy's like not the o o'clock news and rab c nesbitt but this was my favourite such good times

Gary Price: The most evil man in Swansea. I once saw him being sick on a tramp and when he finished he said "There you are, a hot meal for you"! Priceless.
Brilliant 4 out of 5 of these sketches I had not seen ...he has me in stitches especially the bit about Gary Price giving him a haircut !!! :-) I have a couple to post soon too .... Long Live Shadwell ...
"They said, "Shadwell, go for it!" So I went for it. But it had gone..." This quip has been making me laugh for years. Where is Shadwell now. He has gone?
LMFAO!!! Before the neds drank alchoholic drinks, there was Saidwell. I loved this character. And it's true John Sparkes is an underrated comedian which is a pity because his characters were so funny.
One of my favourite comedy moments was in Absolutely. It was tge Stoneybridfe gala night, Gordon Kennedy was giving a speech with all that evening's acts around him. John Sparkes was standing stock still just behind him, darting his eyes all over the place.
Forgot how funny this was. Not enough naked video on this site. There's one I remember with George Best in a Good Morning Britain spin off. When asked if the drink affected his brain he replied "No" he was then asked "Why did you sign for hibs then?" Absolutely brilliant.
Totally defies the snowflake 'culture' of today, John Sparkes is a comedy genius, am now searching for Frank Hovis, (The man on the Lavatory) Another great character of his!
'Naked Video', Rab C. Nesbitt started off as a sketch on Naked Video. John Sparkes' Siadwell sketches were some of my favourite bits of the show as a nipper in the late 80's watching telly on my dad's knee.
Is that right!, it's spelt "Siawell"? I never knew that, I have always spelt it Shadwell, oh well you live and learn ha ha The end is cut off here, it's really important as it's one of the most original endings ever, I wont say it because I don't want it spoilt for Saidwell newbies
Alright but that means Kevin Turvey is like Ronnie Corbett do you really want to go down that road cos there's not a lot of love down that road and it's a bloody long road before you get to the punchline. Like if Ronnie Corbett pulled a chicken joke you have the dictionary in the middle so just imagine I've written the dictionary not just the word dictionary but the actual dictionary word for word then you'd have to get to the other side the evolution of this idea has been done to death by UA-cam one man in front of the camera sat down telling jokes was never going to be any better than the performer pretty sure Ronnie Corbett would have been the first though hancock's Half Hour might count I don't know anyway boobs. that was the real punchline not the chicken thing earlier that was basically just stalling to really drive home how supercilious Ronnie Corbett sense of humour is and to demonstrate the clear damage of growing up with Ronnie Corbett on the TV.
@@ridanann No. It's not one man sitting in a room in front of a camera. It's the characteristics of the man, how he acts, how he is hilariously stupid without having any idea he's stupid. Quite the contrary in fact. If you think I was saying it just because it's a guy in a room in front of a camera telling jokes, then you missed the point entirely. Go watch Kevin Turvey. They are almost the same character, only they are doing their thing in a slightly different way, in how they are getting their points across. Turvey investigated things, where Shadwell just talked about fucked up things because they had just happened to him or something. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to say this character is bad because it's a Kevin Turvey style character. That would be like saying Katherine Tate's "Am I bovverred#?" schoolgirl character must be shit because she's influenced so heavily by Vicky Pollard from Little Britain. Both characters are great, both are hilarious (if a bit boring and repetitive in the case of both of the schoolgirl characters in my opinion), but you can't ignore the fact that one of them only exists in that final form they are shown as by the time we see them on tv, because of the previous character having such a huge impact on the writer who came up with the character.
"I had a pen friend once. But the ink ran out." Brilliant!
Watched this stuff as a youngun and it is still hilarious!
Thanks Shadwell!!

John Sparkes- brilliant! Why is he not celebrated as one of our best comedy talents?

"They said, "Shadwell, go for it!" So I went for it. But it had gone..." This quip has been making me laugh for years. Where is Shadwell now. He has gone?
Search for John Sparkes
He changed his name to Owen Smith.
He's narrating Peppa Pig!

Loved these Siadwell sketches. You need to look up "Barrie Welsh is Coming" if you enjoyed this video. Can be a bit rude.😆
Barry Welsh 🤣 legendary! “It’s a challenge for me, a challenge for my coracle”

I always remember the Sean Connery one.
She pronouned it "Seen Canary "
Lmao
Deep, deep joy!
Wow Owen Smith lookalike ..
For some reason this character popped into my head so googled him. Turns out he's been narrating Peppa Pig for 20 years.
@Catalyst2 Why can't we have shows like this today
Hello I'm Shadwell. Great John Sparkes character
Siadwel
Classic Siadwell.
One of my Welsh cousins looks like this lmao
there must be many Gary Pryce's in Swansea....
unrecognised comedy genius.
Love john sparkes .
Never realised Matt Le Tissier was in Absolutely 😂
Hint to the channel owner, it's spelt "Siadwell"
Aw John Sparkes is cute!
Siadwel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️
Little Girl and Shadwell were the only two characters I liked in Absolutely.
That little girl is married to David baddiel
Owen Smith to a tee !
Today I have a recipe for you, it's for a boiled egg. Here's what you need, one egg. Thank you
Best of Siadwel is currently on BBC Radio Wales - www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0977tfq
ONLY 5 Episodes???
thanks so much
John Sparkes, with an E.
Owen Smith MP , bought me here.... I do wonder why? .... not! hahahahahhahaha!
😂😂😂😂 I see it
This is from Naked Video. The Shadwell in Absolutely is different.
In Absolutely he wasn't Siadwell (as you say Siadwell was in Naked Video). He played Gwen, Frank Hovis and Denzil.
is his accent north wales or south wales? i love it either way, boyo
Valleys
He narrates Peppa Pig these days.
Great comedy from the good old days just genius woke generation can shove it spoiling our fun !😄😄😄
Totally defies the snowflake 'culture' of today, John Sparkes is a comedy genius, am now searching for Frank Hovis, (The man on the Lavatory) Another great character of his!
LOL.
Naked Video. He grew up and became Frank Hovis.
Is Uncle Denzil his character in Absolutely
is this actors name John sparks can any body confirm
Yes. TV show was called naked video
Spoons were the best !
Top rate comedian, should be much better known, far better than mcintyre, bishop and the like.
Was his character part of a series??
have you watched this
Can I just point out that it's not "Shadwell", it's "Siadwel"..."Shadwel"l in Welsh pronounciation sounds nothing like Siadwel.
I guess it's the Anglicised pronounciation - like "Sian" sounds like "Sharrrrrn" here :)
Oh right he's saying Shadwell, all these years I thought it was gravel.
I seem to remember that his 'girl-friend' was called 'Gravil' 'Gravel'. :-)
It's "Siadwell" not Shadwell.
If it's pronounced "Shadwell" then it must be spelled "Siadwel"
No H sound in Welsh language
@Cymro 65 sorry I didn't mean 'sound' you know what I mean though
welsigit eh lol Celtic languages don't need these newfangled letters just nonsense Z have you seen him they're bloody ridiculous like drunk s

3 different spellings There? it is Shadwell, its a total piss take out of ones own kind.
Kevin Turvey was funnier and Rik Mayall did this sort of thing well before 😂😂😂😄😄😄😄
