Sipos Bakery has been there for as long as I can remember. My Grandmother lived in Perth Amboy back in the 70's and we would pass the bakery on the way to visit her.
I lived in Perth Amboy from 1979 to 1987. It was nice to revisit through the video although I was like please turn that way or this way. LOL The this building used to be that and so forth. Thanks for the memories and I hope you post more videos of Perth Amboy.
This is my home town. I was born and raised here. Not the best place. There isn’t much here, you just live. You can say it’s depressing or boring or plain, either or works perfectly for this place.
My maternal great-grandfather was born here at the turn of the century. It is very strange for me to see these streets, from the other end of the worls... thank you for this video.
Jon Bonjovi was also born there at the Perth Amboy General Hospital on New Brunswick Ave. Perth Amboy is now predominantly a Latino community made up of Dominicans, South and Central American ps and also Some Mexicans. There is still a large portion of Puerto Ricans but they are slowly moving out. There are still some older Polish residents but they are a small minority.
Compared to early 90's Delaney Homes projects era. Perth Amboy isn't bad, that place has been cleaned up for over 2 decades. Razzmatazz near Amboy theaters was the place to go as a kid in the 80's.. Good memories
Great video bro, I live in Harlem but have a lot of family down in Amboy. It isn’t really a high crime ghetto area, from my experience it’s a family oriented town with majority Puerto Rican’s and Dominicans with lots of good restaurants. Amazing video brother
@@Vincent-fw9xi I've never been to the eastside of harlem yet. I'll alway be at st nicholas and fredrick douglas especially when get something to eat at jacobs
Shooting and stabbing happen here too. I would know I’m from there and have witness my fair share of things growing up there. Just because you don’t see anything happen don’t mean nthing spent happen.
The waterfront and high street are the best part of Amboy.. there’s so much character here.. I love Amboy. Those complaining don’t appreciate what they have. The whole town is walkable and there’s the train and lots of transportation. Jersey ppl are very spoiled and only realize when they leave. Most states have big cities that shutdown at like 7pm. Amboy always has energy

Went to high school there in early 70’s. Town was going downhill then and it’s a lot worse now. No character to the place and cheapo stores all along Smith and State Street. The high school is among the lowest ranked in the state. Was a great place until about 1967.
When the whites moved out huh? You don’t know what you speak of. This is a great community with great hard working ppl. You get a sense of family here no matter if you related or not. You are speaking from a distance with no knowledge of what’s actually like here.
Too many dollar stores way too many liquor stores bars as well stop putting up more barbershops please and while we are there let’s get rid of the homeless people at the train station looks horrible also let’s stop the liquor stores from serving alcohol at 7:30 am in the morning by the train station
It still is.... Especially at night. Its not Newark bad but it has its shit. Before they knocked down the Delaney homes and Dunlap it was bad and hall ave was one of the known streets in amboy for awhile. I used to hangout with NFO
