Very impressive and handsome looking 4-8-4 type steam locomotive, it's great to see ATSF 3751 back in operation again as I really like the Santa Fe rr 4-8-4 locomotives.
I'll be seeing 3751 again on Sunday for the event. While I originally didn't plan on it as I saw her last year at Fullerton Railroad Days, being how it's at the LA Union Station for the weekend has made me interested in going again. Plus I spent a whole summer working there once so it be nice to go back.
It's a shame that Amtrak hasn't done any steam excursions like the used too. I wish they would change their policy back so they could do those again. It would be amazing to see 2926 and 3751 double head a special across southern California. You know what, while wishing for things that won't happen, I want the 21st Century Steam program revived with Norfolk Southern. lol
I got some news for the future of 3751 when i got into the cab of 3751... Yes they want to run 3751 on the mainline for excursions but it is difficult to get 3751 back on the mainline
Yes, in both 3751 and 2926 have 80” drivers. The most noticeable difference in the drive gear is that the 2900s have roller bearings while the 3751 class has friction bearings.
Go get em 3751! from the 2926 crew!

This blows my mind! To think that there were people capable of building such an incredible machine and it still runs just as good today is astounding.
Nice, always cool to see an old steamer in action!
What a badass beast I want to see this locomotive in person along with 2926
And 4960
@@brianfalzon6739 idk about 4960 but I only want to see 2926 and 3751
@@TrainMedia00 4960 is owned by the Grand Canyon Railroad and is a 2-8-2
Great to see. Hope everything goes well this weekend.

I like how you can hear 3751's anti-rotation bar thudding against the bell's cradle as it's swinging around

I agree
I'm pretty sure they already reversed their decision a while back, 611 and 765 did some Mainline Trips this year, so I wouldn't give up hope yet
That private car has been sitting in the LA yard for years!

and expensive. Most people don't realize how much is involved in a modest run to even San Diego, when they demand the locomotive come cross-country.
That well be awesome 💯💯
I see the shops buildings are gone :(
Horn battles and whistle battles here we come
One thing I'd love to see is either the 5000 or the 3463 coming back from the grave
Maybe both and 3415

Dynamite 👍
I wonder how many working turntables still exist on US railroads.
There's still quite a number of turntables in service, mostly with heritage lines and railroad museums.
#3751 moves under Steam once again.
@jonathanschoen807 are the drive wheels on 3751 same size as 2926?

Thanks for the reply and info!
first amtrak, NOW UNION PACIFIC?!
That driver bar is massive in the middle. Big boy 4014 is not That Big
When will the train go to LA? Do you know which route, time etc. I would love to see witness it.
Tentative plan is to arrive at the station by 6:30am.
It is in LA, it only needs to go maybe half a mile to get to LAUPT (aka Union Station).
What time will it arrive at US on Saturday in the morning?
It is going to Union Station very early on Sat. morning and will be at the Union Station for two days.
Saw in back when the old San Bernardino shops where still there. Been a BNSF conductor since 1997
Wish BNSF would sack up and make a real steam program.
we can always dream.........
That's good, call em' pussies. Sure that will motivate them 😂😂😂
3751 sister 2926 is back
I’m only a fan of steam trains not subway trains or the Lirr
