- I went out to test the new equipment on the kayak, motor, battery and speed controller so I decided to do some fishing while I was at it. I ended
up connecting with my first fish of the year on the kayak and a nice striped bass broke me off. There is plenty of fish in the bay, a few more days of nice weather and things should heat up.

Nice start, good to see you back on the yak, and nice motor setup!
Thank you! I hope to see you around Jamaica bay soon. The motor was a DIY project using a water snake and a lot of patients lol. I decided to have it this way instead of mounted on the side, switching from motor to drive it’s one of the downsides. How is it to have it mounted on the side of the kayak?.
@@NYCE_Fishing awesome! Yeah, you’ll see a lot more of me down by your parts once fluke season opens! Having the side mount for the motor is nice, as it frees up a bit of space in the front… it’s also nice to not have to switch back and forth for the drive… though I doubt it’s as quick as your setup
Nice weather for fishing bro.
Yes it was. I was surprise because every time I’m off and I want to go fishing there is always a storm passing by lol.
Great video, and nice catch brother!
Thank you brother!
Hey,
I want to get started again fishing. I want to take my grandsons. Any tips on how the bridges to fish, is greatly appreciated.
Looks like you don't have a leash on your mirage drive. All it takes is one little mistake, you roll and anything sitting on deck is now at the bottom. Depending on water type or depth, that could get expensive. Leash anything you don't want to loose. Congrats, on the nice striper. Tight Lines!
Thanks for the tip and I will definitely leash the mirage drive. I didn’t use a leash before because I had the drive locked in place for the entire trip, but now since I’m switching between drive and motor I will use a lanyard on the drive.
Great work bro win some lose some let go 💯
Thanks bro! Tight lines!
get emm nice ones bro
Thank you bro!
Amazing opening the seazon 🔥🤩👏 I'll see you on the water soon 👊
I’ll see out there bro! Thank you for watching,.
Good Day out there! Thanks for taking us along!
I've been researching getting a kayak.
You have all the gear bro lol.
How much would you estimate your complete set up run you? If you don't mind me asking.
Kayak, motor, battery etc
I paid for the Hobie outback about 3,500
Fishfinder garmin striker 4 about 100
The motor it’s a water snake about 150
Lifepo4 battery about 170
Battery box about 70
The hobie cart 250
The speed controller was a DIY project with a pulse width modulator, some wiring and it was about 100 and time consuming.
I hope it helps, thank you for watching!.
I hope this year to see ya on the water ... I'm fat spanish guy lol on a dark green 132 old town with green lights front and back , trolling motor on front with an American flag . If you see this description float by bro
I sure will brother! I’ll be out there every weekend weather permitting. Thank you for watching!

Cross bay bridge
what speed controller r u using? thx
Hi! The speed controller was a DIY project. I bought a pulse width modulator, an electrical box and a switch. There is some really great videos on how to build it.
I hope it helps, thank you for watching!
Where would be a good spot to catch striper
Back bays in Jamaica Bay!
How would I get there by public transportation
@@charlestaylor2480 I guess it depends if you want to fish the Queens or Brooklyn side. Many trains and buses can get you there. Tight lines bro!
Queens side
try blackfish ?
I will next time I’m out there. I’ll use some clams around the bridges and see what’s up. Thank you for watching bro!
@@NYCE_Fishing good luck. I tried crabs this weekend. Nothing at marine parkway
@@lighto999 you just saved me a trip bro lol. I will try the North Channel Bridge instead. That’s crazy , they’re not biting by MPBridge. Where you fishing shallow or deep?
@@NYCE_Fishing high+low tide, checked all pillars ~40ft deep
@@NYCE_Fishing lmk never tried there. always had water quality concerns more inshore.
