Idk if I would recommend cutting piano wire with a pair of multitool cutters. Piano wires are made of hardened carbon steel. I don’t have much use to cut piano wires maybe you do but that’s odd to begin with. Secondly in the construction world “hard wire” and “soft wire” are terms to describe different kinds of electrical wire. They are two different kinds of conductive wires that work in different ways. To make it simple a hard wire has a single strand on the inside of the sheathing that is made out of a conductive material. This strand can be made out of a lot of different materials from copper the entire way up to steel. That notch is designed to make a cleaner cut on a hard wire. That coat hanger is a good example of a good steel solid core wire. If it can cut that it can cut steel hard wire. Soft wire on the other hand is a bunch of smaller strands weaved together to a certain gauge to make an electrical conductor that had more flex to it. The soft wire can bend back and fourth a lot more before the strands start to break. This is known as stranded wire. This is what our “soft wire” cutters are for. It would be hard to know this if you’re not in the construction field but that’s what these tools are for. It’s a multi use, jack of all trades tool. Hopefully you learned something today!
Until now I thought hard wire is a piano wire and what you holding in hand is soft steel wire.
