Arguably one of the greatest motion picture of golden era of Hollywood.Based on John Steinbeck’s classic novel of the same name.Henry Fonda n Jane Darewell acted superbly.Hats off to John Ford n Alfred Newman.
this song fits the movie perfectly. my history teacher had us watch this movie and i have to say that it was one of the best movies I've seen. the humility of it makes for a great story and the acting was impeccable. really enjoyed this movie. after watching it our teacher gave us an assignment to either write an alternative ending or write a song, im going with the song. wish me luck ;D
My favourite novel! The movie is great but it could really do with a modern update now. I read somewhere that Spielberg was on the case but the project never came to fruition.
I got the opportunity and I was lucky to watch that GREAT movie full of humanity .Life of poor people exploted .The song you uploaded and the pictures remind me of that story from the novel that moved me to tears ......
You sound young, which makes me so happy that you find the meaning in Grapes. I read it when I was about 14 and I believe Steinbeck helped shape my life. All the best to you and carry that compassion you're feeling forever.
growing up in the central valley of CA. I met the real life people who survived the depression and migrated to the region in search of a better life, and they succeeded!
Ingrid, you could not say more right words of these. This film is a classic of Hollywood. A very sad story. Thank you again and I wish you a great start of October!
One of the best films centered around the Great Depression! Your tribute to the fantastic film is wonderful, Mirko. So glad to see that you've re-uploaded it.
As always, thank you so much Alan for your generous comments! A friend recommended this song! It is perfect! The film is very sad but at the same time, the finish is very optimistic and hopeful for the future. However, the ending of the novel is different. Thank you again!
Yes, I was a part of that era. My family moved to Calif in 1941, looking for work. We lost our farmland, and the Sioux Indians burned down the fields, cows, pigs, chickens, house and barn. We found work due to the war. There was a joke of " Texas went to Calif, and Oklahoma went to hell." In Calif we all found work, and a new life began for my family. I was 12 years old. Count you're blessings.
The Grapes of Wrath is much more than a classy, old-fashioned history documentation. With dialogue and scenes that rank among the most moving and memorable ever filmed, it's a classic among classics - simply put, one of the finest films ever made. It remains a luminous example of Hollywood classicism. Congratulation dear Mirko for your choice this amazing presentation with best editing and the wonderful song by Judy Collins. Have a good start in the month of october. Sincerely, Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨Ʒ Ingrid
I am on the lowest economic rung of the $ ladder. I am the "loser" "waste of space" that the trumpians want removed. So far they are doing pretty well. I fear I will not survive this regime. SOS
@@sylvialane6071 How do you like 7 dollar a gallon gas, and hordes of refugees coming over the border to take your job, and food shortages in the stores. Now you're not on the ladder. You're in the toilet, like the rest of us.
I see where DreamWorks is casting a new version of "The Grapes of Wrath". Immediately Kyle Chandler came to mind as Tom Joad (Henry Fonda). He would be great in this wonderful classic movie. A DreamWork come true! Best Looking...Best Actor...Kyle Chandler! May be directed by Steven Spielberg.
They used to tell me I was building a dream. And so I followed the mob When there was earth to plow Or guns to bear I was always there Right on the job. They used to tell me I was building a dream With peace and glory ahead. Why should I be standing in line Just waiting for bread? Once I built a railroad I made it run Made it race against time. Once I built a railroad Now it's done Brother, can you spare a dime? Once I built a tower up to the sun Brick and rivet and lime. Once I built a tower, Now it's done. Brother, can you spare a dime? Once in khaki suits Gee we looked swell Full of that yankee doodle dee dum. Half a million boots went sloggin' through hell And I was the kid with the drum! Say don't you remember? They called me Al. It was Al all the time. Why don't you remember? I'm your pal. Say buddy, can you spare a dime? Once in khaki suits, Ah, gee we looked swell Full of that yankee doodle dee dum! Half a million boots went sloggin' through hell And I was the kid with the drum! Oh, say don't you remember? They called me Al. It was Al all the time. Say, don't you remember? I'm your pal. Buddy, can you spare a dime?
makes me wanna run out and give somebody a dime. You never know what put somebody in their circumstances. Sad song. Back in the Dust Bowl time I'm sure it usually wasn't crack or drunken vagrancy. And yes, Grapes of Wrath was a damn good movie.
Congratulation dear Mirko for your choice this amazing presentation with best editing. Wonderful is also the touching song by Judy Collins. John Steinbeck and Woody Guthrie were the voice for the voiceless. There was so much tragedy during those years. People were stronger then.
If they weren’t strong they didn’t survive

This was amazing, and Collins too. Wow.
I met Judy in 2000. She kissed me at a book signing at borders.
Great movie - great editing - thanks for posting.
The reality of the American dream.
Sadly so.

Thank you for your appreciation to the film and song. It's a great film.Good luck with your work.
Great work.
Tom Joad is exactly how I imagined he would look like.
The movie really captured the harsh reality of the depression. Your editing and choice of music equally does the job.

Финал романа, как раз пессимистичен. Трагедия и метафора.

Excellent!
I did not know there were plans for a new version of the film. Thanks for info!
And if there is a remake Tom Joad will be Black
super film avec une chanson superble
Thank you Jose for watching and appreciation!
My grandfather told me in the great Depression employment was so bad you could not buy as job never mind having one
btw i got an A on that project, and my teacher really liked it
Excellent presentation! Sadly, it seems we need this song again, and NEITHER candidate shows any promise of recovery! - horrible choice this year.

Oh, God no! It can't be improved upon...
Those hungry kids always make me sad....
There are more and hungrier kids this morning and they are not actors.

"Thems ain't 2 for a penny candy thems nickel apiece candy...."
Americans have to take care of eachother
Like the saying goes: United we stand, divided we fall.
You mean the way we took care of each other on September 11 USA killing it's own people that was an inside job guaranteed .
Amen brother...
good
They used to tell me
I was building a dream.
And so I followed the mob
When there was earth to plow
Or guns to bear
I was always there
Right on the job.

Just waiting for bread?
Once I built a railroad

Made it race against time.

Now it's done
Brother, can you spare a dime?
Once I built a tower up to the sun
Brick and rivet and lime.

I read the book years ago. IMO Ma Jode should have been cast as a thin woman, being they were so poor. But the character was acted well.
Questo dovrebbe essere, se non sbaglio, il film Furore

Dickensian...poverty and social injustice will always be with us.
