With all due respect to all respected panelist, I think otherwise, as the basic reason of Russian attack is to keep NATO forces away from its border, which he sees as a potential threat. Now, India's decision, not taking sides is good, as we need Russia to neutralize threat expected from our surrounding nations, China & Pak, Moreover, we cannot ignore internal threats, expected from the political entities, influenced by these hostile nations.

Thank you. You have stated it so clearly. For a start, democracy is not such a an holy grail that it is paramont and reign supreme and just about more important than anything else. Singapore has a fully working democracy of sorts to suit its needs and there is no need to follow the corrupt western democracy model and its unscrupulous lobbying mobs. Fedral Reserve is run by private Banks and that says a lot about US democracy. USA has been built on the blood and genocide of the natives ( I believe Yanks broke over 2000 traties they signed with the natives) and it has further enriched itself by starting wars all over the planet and killing millions of civilians. I didn't bother to watch the show as I am aware of Dr Swamy's view. I have respect for him as an economist but clearly dont agree to his rabid anti Russian stance and on matters on geo politics. This is a wonderful pay back time to Russia for USSRs stance during 1971 war. In fact, I wouldn't mind a sanction from USA or West. Nothing would be better for India than being forced to go Desi. It will also be good opportunity to solve the internal Islamic and Evangelical problem without caring a hoot for Human rights while banning foreign media. Surely we will go through a difficult period but we shall overcome. Critics would say China Pak alliance would take advantage of no global support. In spite of aggression, I don't think Chinese are non pragmatic. There will always be posturing and the age old tactics of salami slicing but I don't foresee large-scale war. Can someone explain to me what the deal is with condemning Russia is? Would India be expected to send troops or weapons to Ukraine? It's a little sad that the many participants in this discussion, who claim to practice Sanatana Dharma, seem to forget that the very essence of that ideal requires that India remains neutral. Sure it might bring some economic difficulty in the near future, but we have faced even harder times and we can get through it as long as we stay united as a nation. And neutrality would go a long way to strengthen our unity.
Might I also add -- the West needs India as much (if not more) as India needs them. So if they choose to isolate India for its neutral stand, it will be to their disadvantage as well. Strategically we should play this card which is also aligned with our ethos.

This crisis put india in tight situation since india depends heavily on russian weapons....If india condemn russian aggression, the russians will simply cut off their weapons supply to india and this is what china is hoping...Chinese also depended on russian /soviet weapons but now they are making their own weapons and self sufficient.. Switching to other western weapons for india is very costly and will take long time to procure. The only major help from USSR was when it warned the USA intervening in 1971 war against india.. Otherwise the russians were too engrossed in cuban missile crisis when china attacked india in 1962 and captured Aksai Chin..For some reasons Nehru was asking help from USA and not from USSR and USA sent some supplies which made china stop the war unilaterally and withdrew from Arunachal Pradesh. Again when the chinese massed troops and weapons at the indian border in early 2020, the worried indians approached the russians to know the intentions of chinese and was assured the chinese meant no harm and only conducting annual war games as usual. The indian army did not take this chinese build up seriously and it was reported since covid pandemic just started , most of the soldiers went to LEH for covid screening leaving the border poorly defended..The chinese saw the opportunity and quoting Dr.Swamy , the chinese just walk into unguarded indian border and occupied 4000 sq.km and the rest is history.. My take on this secession was that it was reasonably balanced as far as the core issues. There were serious and real facts in what Sree said and what in the contrary views of Aravind. There are many aspects not said which could swing India’s decision either way. The consequences of India’s opinion at this time is pure guess work. These are mostly opinions only, and should be taken in that spirit instead of calling names.
India needs to reduce Russian dependency in defence. Our case is a bit like Europe's plight with energy dependency from Russia. We need to indigenize/ diversify as soon as possible in defence. It is seriously a very flawed strategy and very poor risk management from our military planners to depend on one source.

Present stance of India is good and I support. India is not Ukrain. A very tricky situation for any government to handle. History and our experience with West and US cannot be forgotten. US in the hands of arms dealers and cannot go with the confused old man. Even Europe is not involving.
We can stand for all the principles we want but the ground reality is that our Soviet/Russian origin weapon systems will all be jeopardized in the most dangerous time. Our neutrality is solely based on the fact that our defense equipments are majorly Russian and we need then for spare parts. Once they refuse then it would be nightmare for us. Till this dependency minimises and the threat of China goes, I think being neutral is the way.

I didn't bother to watch the show as I am aware of Dr Swamy's view. I have respect for him as an economist but clearly dont agree to his rabid anti Russian stance and on matters on geo politics.

Can someone explain to me what the deal is with condemning Russia is? Would India be expected to send troops or weapons to Ukraine? Has US put a condition that it stop trade with India unless India condemns. Does that mean the trade with Russia stops? It's a little sad that the many participants in this discussion, who claim to practice Sanatana Dharma, seem to forget that the very essence of that ideal requires that India remains neutral. Sure it might bring some economic difficulty in the near future, but we have faced even harder times and we can get through it as long as we stay united as a nation. And neutrality would go a long way to strengthen our unity.
Might I also add -- the West needs India as much (if not more) as India needs them. So if they choose to isolate India for its neutral stand, it will be to their disadvantage as well. Strategically we should play this card which is also aligned with our ethos.

I agree with Dr.Swamy regarding Russian attack on ukraine is against a weaker country is totally insane and crime. This crisis put india in tight situation since india depends heavily on russian weapons....If india condemn russian aggression, the russians will simply cut off their weapons supply to india and this is what china is hoping...Chinese also depended on russian /soviet weapons but now they are making their own weapons and self sufficient.. Switching to other western weapons for india is very costly and will take long time to procure.
The only major help from USSR was when it warned the USA intervening in 1971 war against india.. Otherwise the russians were too engrossed in cuban missile crisis when china attacked india in 1962 and captured Aksai Chin..For some reasons Nehru was asking help from USA and not from USSR and USA sent some supplies which made china stop the war unilaterally and withdrew from Arunachal Pradesh.
Again when the chinese massed troops and weapons at the indian border in early 2020, the worried indians approached the russians to know the intentions of chinese and was assured the chinese meant no harm and only conducting annual war games as usual. The indian army did not take this chinese build up seriously and it was reported since covid pandemic just started , most of the soldiers went to LEH for covid screening leaving the border poorly defended..The chinese saw the opportunity and quoting Dr.Swamy , the chinese just walk into unguarded indian border and occupied 4000 sq.km and the rest is history.. My take on this secession was that it was reasonably balanced as far as the core issues. There were serious and real facts in what Sree said and what in the contrary views of Aravind. There are many aspects not said which could swing India’s decision either way. The consequences of India’s opinion at this time is pure guess work. These are mostly opinions only, and should be taken in that spirit instead of calling names.

India needs to reduce Russian dependency in defence. Our case is a bit like Europe's plight with energy dependency from Russia.
We need to indigenize/ diversify as soon as possible in defence. It is seriously a very flawed strategy and very poor risk management from our military planners to depend on one source.

Panel members r largely aligned with US. It was a difficult choice for India & u r doomed either ways.The panel is arguing that it shd hv voted in favour of west. But had India done the same, the same panel may argue that India shd hv abstained as Russia is our all weather friend.

1. Trade will work fine with USA & Western nations

7. Were USA & NATO not aware of the reaction from Russia? The fact is that Russia was provoked so that Ukraine gets attacked. US is the major beneficiary as it will give a huge impetus to its arm industry. Ukraine was used for this purpose & it fell into trap.
Civilian casualty was abt 350 yday. Naturally, Russia is cautious else casualty & progress must be higher. It may increase further if Russia becomes agressive. NATO or USA wont get involved militarily. All r selling their old weapons to Ukraine.
8. China occupied 4000 sq km in Ladakh. This is being highlighted & Russia keeping quiet. But the same China occupied Aksai Chin, parts of Arunachal Pradesh etc. What India did at that time? Nothing. India won't be able to do much but keep resisting & fight.
