Thank you for posting this! For quite a while I've been hoping that you would post some videos about amps. In a previous video Paul mentioned that he does a demo where he lets a customer listen to a system, then he removes the subwoofer, and apparently the difference is very dramatic. I would love to see that demo in a video.
A dozen years ago I bought the SR Technologies Jam 150 with a wood cabinet. It was and still is amazing. Schertler has since bought that company and has marketed those designs under their name. I’ve found that my high end acoustics with K&K Western Mini pickups (soundboard transducers) sound amazing through mine. If you have a guitar there with those pickups, you should try it out. I think you’ll be blown away.
Great review ! Thank you!
I have a Schertler Jam 100. Most excellent.
I once played a schertler amp with an Eastman E20om that had a schertler pickup system in it. It was outstanding.
They are great-sounding amps, but as far as value, unless you're a super purist on acoustic sound, you have better options. Lots now have rechargeable batteries, built-in loopers and bluetooth, like the Fender Junior Go, Boss Acoustic Singer Pro and the NuX Stageman 80, which also sound great. You also have the all-time best Bose S1 Pro.
Wow! So much more detail than my Fishman Loudbox. I wonder what my Banner 1942 J-45 would sound like. My question is how loud can it get without distortion? In other words, would it be loud enough for the groups I play for (35-80 in a living room setting)? Also, will you be carrying these regularly? Thanks, Paul and Quinton.
It is a great sounding acoustic amp. I just couldn't afford $1500 for it. I'll stick with my fishman loud-box mini. I know that amp will work very well with my martin d18 that I have had a fishman matrix blended mike pickup installed.
A wonderful amplifier that reproduces the horrid sound of piezo pickups so perfectly.
what pickups do you like?
@@gosman949 I've tried many, but the Fishman Matrix Blend is the best I've used. Quinton uses the K & K Trinity. Both systems combine mics with piezos to give a natural sound.
I wish there was a 'Watch Again Immediately' button. I'd press it a hundred times
Thanks for the demo. How does the amp work with electric guitar? Historically the Standel amps were more Hi-Fi design and were great for electric guitar.
I have the Schertler Jam 100 and it's a fine amp but I don't rate it that much greater than my Fender acoustic junior or my Roland AC 60 or 90. Mine has 4 channels which is probably it's best feature and the sound is clear and strong. I did however have to replace the faulty Sica Woofer and warranty would only cover it if I shipped it to Florida to the service center. They wouldn't let me send just the speaker alone. I opted to replace it with a superior Eminence speaker and it's far better than the Sica without the distortion artifact in it's bass tone.
Sounds really good. I wonder what the power rating is and what size venue this is appropriate for? I would guess it will rival and exceed a Fishman Loudbox Artist?
Got Schertler, Henriksen, Roland
Nothing beats a Bose S1 Pro+
Would you use this with a DPA 4099 with optimal results?
Here for Quinton’s playing ?
He’s great, but just imagine if at the end of every tune he did the little “dig in” strum near the soundhole and not the bridge.
What is a digital amp????
