Background: The performance came from a celebration for the lowering of the voting age in Japan. From 20 years old, 18 became the age to be an eligible voter. The ive back-up vocals of that performance was done by thousands of 18 years old. They were trained and coached specifically for that event.

THIS!!! I was excited to see that they reacted to We Are, but slightly disappointed when it wasn’t the 18fes version. For me, the 18fes is just more raw and more impactful.
True. This performance of We Are remains God tier to this day. The goosebumps you get from that is just indescribable.

I remember that they streamed this whole concert for free at the beginning of the pandemic and I milked that moment, man 😆 I really jammed with all my soul inside my room without care. Best moments 😩

One ok rock had so many ballad and pop songs too. They start from rock>alternative rock>ballad>pop.
I love your commentary! You've only seen a tiny sample of what the band can do but you are so spot on with your evaluations. The band's older songs are the heavier style that you would traditionally associate with rock, whereas their more recent songs are more pop and not as heavy. Some fans (usually the more vocal ones) dislike this change and always say how they want the band to go back to their older style. But it is as you said... The band is not bound by genres. They do what they want, and Taka has stated that to him, rock isn't a genre but a lifestyle. I love how they have the skill to navigate so many different genres. It's not easy to be able to play different genres and do them all well. The core message of their songs doesn't change regardless of the genre they play, though, and I think that's what's most important.
This concert was entirely with an orchestra, not just this one song. You should check out the orchestra version of "Stand Out Fit In." I was at the Tokyo performance of this concert and it was so good. I hope you guys will be able to see them live one day. They will definitely tour again once it's safe to do so.

ONE OK ROCK made the full concerts available for free on UA-cam via streaming in the beginning of the pandemic. I watched ALL OF THEM, I'm so happy.

18fes is literally a festival of 18yo’s (another comment explained the context) and is the reason why We Are was written. a thousand 18 year olds provided the backup vocals and imo made the song more emotional. this is my favourite version of the song and I hope you guys can watch it!

the first time i watched this performance ..it got me goosebumps n cry... cause it is THAT GOOD.
They are a 'rock band' but in order for them to break into US's music scene where rock is not popular right now, they decided to make music that is more suitable to the current music scene.
Taka(the frontman) can sing all kind of music, from rock to female song, 'Hello' by Adele, 'Thousand Mile' by Vanessa Carlton.

YASSSSSSS OUR KING
ONE OK ROCK four exclusive shows were accompanied with 53 member Orchestra. It was my first OOR live concert, a birthday gift from my son. I was at the Tokyo (Saitama day two) performance of this concert and would you believe, they performed in suits and ties from start to finish...all you can hear from Taka was " It's sooo hot"...LOL
My son and I were so lucky to have seen their EYE OF THE STORM Japan Tour just before the pandemic. I hope some day soon, you guys will see them live, too. They will definitely have a world tour once it is safe to do so and they always perform in the UK.

During the start of COVID, ONE OK ROCK streamed their past tours. Highly recommend even if you have to pay to see it. The band on its own has this energy but the orchestra just added this overwhelming experience.
