I've loved seeing this little beast come together from the acquisition of the sorry looking little Pop and donor MX5 and all the phenomenal work you've done! She looks incredibly capable on track and sings beautifully. It's also a treat to see and hear you enjoying the fruits of your labour! Awesome 😊
Watched every video of you building the Mongrel, I absolutely love it, from the color to your amazing welding talent and fab skills. The Mongrel looks so mean at speed in those pics and looks SO good in the glamour pics from other videos as well.
Hi Matt, really pleased to hear the cam is coming in much nicer now between 5k & 7k rpm. Sounds like you are pretty close to optimum performance now using that size engine. However, after following your complete build I’m pretty sure the car is strong enough to go up a lump if you really wanted it to. Good photography, shame about that Sunday afternoon driver getting in your way mate! 😊👍
wow, what a car. i watched every vid about the fabrication, and then...you had to paint it yourself. looking forward for the vids on the mini. i am pretty sure that you wiill paint it even better, and easier. i am not a mechanic, and not a painter, but its great to watch your skills and even the skills you didnt know about....up to the paintboot when the time is there
Hey Matt, The Mongrel really looks and sounds the business. It's looking like you need a head/helmet restraint . So thanks for sharing man your track footage is always awesome. ✌️ From Australia.
Hey Matt, you ever considered running the 1.6 clutch and flywheel? Lighter and smaller diameter, engine would rev up a lil quicker, obviously depends on how you want the car to feel and behave!
Isn't that the circuit the 5th gear guys use sometimes for lap times? It's like a go kart circuit lol Annoying an MX5 of all things slows you down eh lol Nice pics of the old gal at the end, looks right with those wheels now ;)
It looks like in some of the stills, that the mushy pea is nose high. If that's not an optical illusion, it's pretty bad aerodynamically as the underbelly should be tail high to help draw the air out from under the belly. Otherwise it could lead to increased drag and some weird high speed behavior.
Nailed the camera position. Sounds great. What fun you must have.

Awesome 😊
Yes, pedal to the metal!
The 'MUSHY PEA' sounds amazing at full song. Well done Matt for turning out a little track gem. Keep up the amazing work 👌🎥🎥🎥👌
Really looks the part too. Those Mk1 flares really suit (especially squatted under power in the stills).
So satisfying to see it actually getting used after following the build.
Wild Man! Urch!
Awesome fun 🙂👍🏻
What a great little car
She quick! Great bit of driving there Matt 🙂
Wow, you've found the sweet spot. Yea to Mongrel!
It is so awesome to finally see the Mongrel really being wrung out! The car sounds and looks amazing!

Cone got a bit close at 2:56! Love it Matt
A wee snippet of Mushy-Pea magic! Looked so much fun & great handling test... 😁✌
Much healthier sound now! She’s dialed.
Great driving Matt. Sounds great. No cones were harmed in the making of this video.
Ugh the UK has such nice club tracks. So jealous.

Been here once a few years back in a saxo potting round with others from the owners club, fun little track
I bloody love that car! 👌

Keep on Racing👍
Good to see you enjoying the fruits of your hard work- I hope the 'left/right depression' seems a distant memory now!
Some nice motoring there, Matt!
I was in the grey R56 copper s, what an absolute machine you’ve built🤯🤯
Thanks mate

Car looks fast
My local track I'm there in a few weeks. 👍👍
Isn't that the circuit the 5th gear guys use sometimes for lap times? It's like a go kart circuit lol

Looks and sounds awesome Matt. 👏👏👏👍✊
You little beauty 👍
The Mongrel looks really well setup and a lot of fun. Is it lighter than a standard MX5?
I'm not sure on the weight but I'd imagine its a tad lighter. Its definitely fun to drive! Cheers
Bad ass Ford pop✌️
Goes well eh? Mushy pea rips. The way you gained on and passed the mx5 speaks for itself
The Mongrel(Sweet Pea) is proven to be a Crackin Good Nugget!" "IT'S RUNNING LIKE MAD FRANKINSTEIN MONSTER!" "CHEERS, URCHMAN!!!"

Good effort! 👍
I wonder how left and right hand steering would compare if two cars were built identically and put on the same track with the same driver
My comic of a grandson says the Mongrel looks like "The Worlds Fastest Booger!". He's 8 so..........
Wow! An absolute weapon. I was afraid you're gonna collect that cone...
What happened to the on-screen track-layout? Is your GPS signal jammed?
Hi alguien sabe que tipo de carro es osea que modelo??
My local track
👍😎
