      I love that finger snap and all the other wizardry as well! I particularly enjoy the "sneaking up on" pieces, then quick as a wink, Del grabs 'em! Those little things make a big difference in the enjoyment factor, to me, anyways :)

    My first thought was to plug-weld the holes, re-drill, then re-profile the "legs" that mount to the trees, but that would have made the "legs" too narrow, side to side. Your way here takes more time, but after paint, it will look just like you had planned, with the benefit of your "Go Fast" lightening holes. All's well that ends well! Enjoy the weekend, D&P

    Hi Del...im really enjoying this one......I have done a headstock mount operation on my speed triple..i just really didnt like the "crashed sportsbike" arrangement.....i cut up the frame mounted stem....adapted some fork mount brackets ( adding some heavy ally solar panel brackets ) and bolted the whole thing together, retaining the triumph bug eyes. it took alot of trial and error to get right. I ended up with the intruments pulled as close to the top triple clamp & as low as possible, so the trip-meter buttons are jammed up under the ignition key ring......I now have a flyscreen added to this handlebar mounted kit so im just going to be very wary of crosswinds when im really ripping along. A Hayabusa goes alot faster than an old speed triple so i'd just be very wary of aerodynamics and cross winds....Possibly you should be treating this mount as a prototype and re-sorting it when you get your headlamps.

    Sorry
    What is not symmetrical is the position of the switch, maybe because of the locking mechanism?
    The clock with its four circles, his circumference, and his four mount, are all symmetrical.
    The handlebar supports are symmetrical to the two forks..
    Your work before the repair is symmetrical to the fork.
    But maybe I'm wrong.

    I feel that under vibration on the road the cut and re-weld may end up snapping even tho I know from watching your videos for years how good a welder you are... Now I'm not a welder and you wouldn't want me to go near a welding machine.... I think cutting it was a mistake. I think you should have welded the holes closed and then ground them flat and then re-drilled them from there.... I think that would have been the stronger idea.... I hope tho the bracket doesn't snap and will do the job you have created it for and that it will last many many years without issue.

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  2 місяці тому +4

      It won't crack mate, it's 3mm thick, and light weight...plus it's rubber mounted and holds no weight either.. Shifting the clock pod sideways on the plate would have overlapped the silhouette one side.. look how the bottom lugs fit perfectly into the shape..! don't worry, it will last many many years without issue im sure !

      @@Moonfleet41 Ah my bad I didnt explain which holes I meant. 😁 I mean the ones that attach to the triple tree not the ones that the gauge cluster is attached to... Its cool. Not meaning to be rude was just a thought.

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  2 місяці тому

      @@TheNintendoFanBoy01 Ah I see, now you make it clear mate, I cut the plates under the top clamp to fill the space completely, I also cut the groove around the ignition switch block so the area is full, giving the most available metal for strength, moving the holes sideways would mean moving the plate sideways and would mean reducing the amount of metal there and indeed that would remove strength!
