When I first moved to Oklahoma from the North Shore (Louisiana) and heard the sirens go off it freaked me out. I had no idea what they were for at first and they were very disturbing.

My manager was trying to tell me "nothings gonna happen. It's just a tornado watch. No tornados" but I kept telling her I heard the sirens and I saw the tornado warning on my phone. She wouldn't listen. Thankfully we weren't in the path of it, but we were merely 5 miles away from the EF-2 tornado. I feel so bad for everyone who lost their homes to the tornado
@@Rat_929 My former boss was like that, He said about a year ago that throughout his time here in Temple, he has never once seen a tornado, and said that it just wouldn't happen. That day proved something to him, no doubt. (former because our job got shut down not too long after the tornado, since it did almost $2M in damages)
It’s always that way, in every tornado I’ve ever experienced (6, when I lived in Texas). The 2000 F3 tornado that ripped through downtown Ft Worth went right by me as I drove home from work on I-30. I was in the debris field-a lot of office paper-but it was rain-wrapped, so I couldn’t see it as it passed within 100 yards of the highway. By the time I thought to get off the highway, it had already passed. But not ten minutes later, it was sunny. It seems cruel to shine sunlight on devastation.

Yep. However, Air-Raid sirens would be more terrifying to me.
They have test sirens some places, but those are just tests.
