    There's a small error in the video - you say that for offmap support, a radio link is needed. It is in fact not needed. But apart from that, it's a good overview.

      Thank you 😇. I am not aware that you can call in Off-Map Fire without access to a radio, but maybe i missunderstand you or have poorly worded it in the video.
      I dont mean the Spotter needs a C2 Link but a radio to call for Off-Map support. Am i mistaken with that?
      Just tested with new Video and consulted forums, you are correct, change on that was just mentioned as a possibility. It appears that my guides are riddled with errors. I dont know how i misunderstood the Manual it doesnt mention the need for a radio link. 🤦‍♂ My Brain likely made the connection because i didnt own the WW2 titles at the time and the Syrians without Radio often simply lag permission to call for fire.
      Well need to issue another correction video by time.
      Edit: In the Meantime get pinned. 😇

      @@AR-GuidesAndMore There's always something in there that I didn't know before. In this one it was that it's possible for off-map artillery to be out of range. Somehow I had never encountered that before.

      This is very rare and usually only happens with lighter Mortars on large Maps. I am glad there was something new for you in it. 😇

    Another advantage for on map artillery is when the ammo is depleted, you now can use them as infantry and double up their utility. Useful second line troops for holding victory locations and to medic friendly troops. As last resort, they can also be used as combat or recon units.

    • @AR-GuidesAndMore
      @AR-GuidesAndMore  7 місяців тому +1

      True, i might have glanced over that too much, by simply reffering to troops in the field in the Intro. But i wanted to focus on the artillery portion. Maybe the points where a bit too rushed over all.

      Agreed - I'm fond of the Soviet Motor Rifle Battalion's mortars, as they come in trucks which also have an RPG-7 in them. I've rolled them forwards in BMPs or even their own trucks to hold the line more than once, and they've achieved multiple tank kills in the process.

      Thank you for your kind words😇. I am not sure, if i would find something new, that isnt mentioned in this Video of Usually Hapless ua-cam.com/video/5w_6U9DuACY/v-deo.html . I feel his unit and formation guides are better than what i could come up with on these topics, to be honest. He also puts them into historical context where possible.

    Great videos. Would love to see some longer ones in the future, maybe some guides about how to play specific forces (e.g. CMRT Soviets, CMBS USA, etc) to their strenghts.

    • @AR-GuidesAndMore
      @AR-GuidesAndMore  7 місяців тому

      Thank you 😇. I will start with some overall tactics guides to give a foundation especially for newer players. Specific factions and best practices for their equipment are something i am not comfortable with, because a deeper understanding of the real world doctrine of these forces would inform a good part of their optimal employment and i am not well versed enough in that part sadly.
      What i can highly suggest for CMCW Soviets is this Video by Free Whisky ua-cam.com/video/Yey6jil-sUM/v-deo.html its is basicly exactly what you are looking for, there is also a Podcast version of it, over an hour long if you want to get into more Detail.

    I have been playing CM games since 2000. I watch quite a few videos these-days on UA-cam of folks playing and I will never understand why (it seems to me) that a vast majority of people take on map mortars, especially in the WW2 games with limited radio access (or worst of all CM2 unconventional forces that have no radios at all!) On map mortar "advantages" in increase in ammo is minimal, the vulnerability is NOT, if you have to move them around...they are not doing their job and any fantasy about using the men as rifleman "in an emergency" means the battle/game has already been lost...
    My over-priced 2 cents on your excellent video. ;)

    • @AR-GuidesAndMore
      @AR-GuidesAndMore  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for your perspective 😇, in smaller engagements i tend to youse On Map mortars to be more flexible. For example to be able to smoke with one, help surpress flanking positions with two others and use one for the support of the main effort. To have two or three missions going at the same time seems to me often not cost effective with Off Map Fires.
      In regards to using them as Infantry i agree, that its usually a last ditch effort.

    Some on-map artillery is bugged in the game, which means for example WW2 German 75mm howitzers fire very slowly but with extreme precision when used on-map. When offmap, they fire faster but with low accuracy.

    • @AR-GuidesAndMore
      @AR-GuidesAndMore  5 місяців тому

      @@AR-GuidesAndMore I only discovered it because I was designing a scenario and found I could knock out bunkers at very long distance using indirect on-map fire. Another bug is that mortar halftracks fire much slower than mortars outside halftracks.

    wait 2:00, so, can mortar vehicles share ammunition? I don' think so, i have 4 US mortar vehicles next to one another and they aren't sharing ammo.

    • @AR-GuidesAndMore
      @AR-GuidesAndMore  9 днів тому +1

      Combat-Vehicles can not share ammunition, this only works for infantry teams and transport vehicles in their formation. Sorry for not making clarifying that sufficiently.
