How to do Color Correction with Lumetri Scopes
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 вер 2019
- This a basic guide to color correction within Adobe Premiere Pro using the Lumetri Color and Lumetri Scopes Panel. All of the steps are not the only way to work with the footage. Each camera and monitor will behave differently which may produce different results.
Here are the notes from the video:
Lumetri Scopes:
Color Correction VS Color Grading
Color Correction
1) find the correct white balance
-rgb parade
-luma values
-vectorscope
2) luma values
1-exposure
2-whites
3-highlights
4-shadows
5-blacks
3) saturation
-vectorscope limits
4) HSL Secondary
-skin tones
Color Grading
1) adjustment layer
-video track placement
2) get artsy
-there are loose rules?
At first, my poor attention span was arguing..."Really?? An hour long?!" But when I sat back and committed, it was absolutely one of the best videos I've seen on the topic, and Well worth the time! Not everything can be learned, or more so, comprehended in 3 minutes. No regrets from me at all. Thank you very much!!!
lmao everyone's first thought regardless of background xD
You LITERALLY are a lifesaver. You’re the first person that actually showed how to pull up the vector scope and rgb map. People really forget that some of us are literal beginners and need it from STEP ONE. Everyone should watch this video, other you tubers are NOT doing it right
Thanks! Happy I could Help
Thank you for this! I'm currently taking an online Premiere course, and the colour correction section was about 20 minutes, I learned so much more in your video! I have a background in design, so I know when a class is just scratching the surface, this was the type of in depth instruction I've been looking for!
Honestly this is the best colour correction video I have ever seen. When I saw how long the video was I was really turned off but I’ve struggled so much just to get a good correction that I told my self why not ..... most other tutorial talk about exposure and contrast first and then saturation and and as you demonstrate it gives awful looking results . Fantastic work ! My only advice is if you could break the video in different parts so it’s less intimidating to watch .
Thank you so much for checking it out! I completely agree its a megadeath length video and I intend to do a new one here soon if my schedule opens up using Davinci resolve since its free and a little easier to get started with.
@@gibblsworthiscool can you add time stamps? Finding this in 2022 (almost 2023, haha) and really could use some timestamps to help navigate :D
I can't believe I watched the whole 1 hour video. Thanks for the knowledge!
I’m taking a film production class and this is the type of teaching you can’t really get in a classroom setting because the time it takes. Thank you.
Color-correcting footage used to frustrate me because I would rely on my monitor rather than the scopes. This makes it so much easier and more reliable!
Happy it helped!
TNice tutorials is the best tutorial. Simply explained to a newbie, great job man.
The best ever color correction video I've seen so far. Thank you!
Dear Google, please make this video the top result for "how to color correct premiere". Had you done so two weeks ago, hour upon hours of my life would have been saved from watching other videos that pale in comparison to how helpful this video is. Thanks!
So glad it was helpful! It probably doesn’t show up at the top because its not monetized since I hated watching other videos full of ads when trying to learn something.
Thanks Jordan, so far this is the best video about correction..i was expecting something about how to use LUTs, and which ones, at the end, but it doesn't matter..great contents
This is the best tutorial I ever found for Premiere - I can't tell you how many times I watched a video and still couldn't understand it but you explain everything in detail and how you decided the levels were right and in the order even - I just did the exposure values first and didn't realize rgb was supposed to be done first before I found your video. I hope you have more tutorials on Premiere because you are really good at explaining things and I just found your channel.
thanks, im planning on making some more tutorial based videos in the near future!
Your video was recommended to me after I watched a few Premier Pro tutorials. Yours stands out as your teaching is really for conveying your experiences and insights itself. Your reaching is clear with depth and width, to the point and practical. Thank you very much Jordan!
From last 6 months Iam trying understand the scopes and ur gave the best valuable info for me Thank you
Glad it helped!
I know this tutorial is 1 hour but thank you so much for being concise. anyone else would make 10+ videos each 10+ minutes long to cover all this stuff with a bunch of fluff. you're a great teacher
Thank you for the lesson. You're a fantastic teacher who explains not only what you're doing but why and how it applies to video. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for checking it out! So glad it helped.
Thank you so much Jordan, I just finished studying this over 3 days and it has helped me so much to get started on colour correction and know what's happening! ❤

Amazing video. No bullshit, getting into it from the get go, and no money grabbing schemes. Thank you so much.
Thank you! You put together this video very well! It has a lot of useful information!
You're very welcome!
Thanks for great demo. Very helpful.
I have always struggled with colour correction, Thanks for your video 🙏🙏 this makes the process so much more easy. Super helpful!! Would love seeing something similar within Davinci Resolve.
I’ll make one on resolve since I switched about 3 years ago.
Amazing video, especially because you mention what to look for and what the limits of what I'm doing should be, aka clipping here, this should be between this and this etc.
Wasn't at all put off by the length of the video, on the contrary, seeing that list at the beginning of the video, I realised you're quite well organised so I expected the video to go into detail.
You should definitely make some more videos, on the Premiere pro topic, you explain things very well! Thanks again!
Thanks again or watching it! I have been using premiere for about 10 years and switched to Davinci Resolve last year mainly because its free and more powerful so any new videos I might be focusing more on that software but I will still likely make some additional videos around premiere since there is a large user base.
Wow. Complete and detailed
Great video! I watched the whole thing without even realizing it was an hour.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You have revealed all the secrets...Thank you so much!!!
You bet!

Thanks for that brilliat session! Cheers from Switzerland!
He said “this is a simple tutorial” then I realize it’s one hour! I’ll have to watch later since all the comments are so positive haha
I mainly didn't want to rush people through anything since it can be hard to follow going too fast.
Nice video!! really clear! thanks for share your skills!!
Thanks for a thorough walk through. I'm going into my 4th feature film, my most recent
Final Transit, and I plan on working more with the scopes on this one, before I start throwing
on luts...
awesome! luts are great for converting footage from log to rec 709 and also adding stuff like color grades. Thanks for watching!

Glad it was helpful!
I have learned a lot thank you 🙏
Amazing! Thank you!
this is the video that I need eventhough I still bit confused about HSL secondary, but I believe this is really complete tutorial video about color correction and color grading for beginner like me..
Hsl secondary is mostly to get skin tones to fall on the skin tone line I mentioned. Sometimes it's not even needed. Usually florescent light has a lot of green that needs to be removed and it helps with that type of issue.
I really appreciated you, thanks
Thank you so much jodran Gibby very nice skill u have and u have explain it also very good and I will say excellent .
