    I really like these comparisons. I think a lot of folks, both those new to film or those acquiring gear have these same questions.

    I liked the look of the Nikkor-S vintage lens. It somehow made my wifes hair more blonde and it was a fun lens to use. I paid $10 CAD for it, sold it a year later for $135 so I liked that even more but it was simply a great lens. The best Nikkor lens was the all black first version just after this Nikkor-S. Absolutely loved that lens and only sold it after getting a 50 f1.2 AIS.

    That glowing blue tinge is why I sold my Nikons - both pre-ai and Ai. It just wasn't my thing

    I have the S version myself pre AI. Yes, its soft wide open, but thats ok. I does sharpen down acceptably at f5.6, but to be honest, if i want sharp, i use the Nikkor Micro P, 55/3.5. Guaranteed it is sharper than either of the lenses in your video.
