Zine is definitively a shortening of the word magazine (or, shortening of the portmanteau ‘fanzine’). I think they basically started out as handmade miniature magazines. Lot of indie artists and writers used to make them. People actually used to spell it with an apostrophe (‘zine) to show it was an abbreviated form of the word.
Lots of fan zines back in the 80’s and 90’s were black and white photocopied sheets stapled together. Definitely derived from the word magazine and was pronounced like the end of that word (zēn).

As a Gen-Xer who was in high school during the heyday of every independent little zine project in the early 90s, I can say with all certainty that, yes, it's pronounced ZEEN.
Fun fact, Sakura Gelly Roll pens fit beautifully in the Cricut. They don't "click in" the way cricut pens do so I usually place a popsicle stick under it when I push it in and push it until the the tip barely touched the stick and that tends to be the right height.
I have been saying that for ages. I have even said if it needs to be a part 2 I would watch it! That is the best part IMO. But, I think she is worried the algorithm won't like it or not show her videos if they are longer.
@@carveylover I get that for sure, but there are plenty of artists on UA-cam using these same kits and making the algorithm work. If your subscribers are here for art, bought brushes in support of her ART, why would you not take the opportunity to say “I used blank amount of products from 9 boxes” I mean that could be a really cool video - but like you pointed out there’s not been a part two using the products. She could draw nothing but bears each time at least it would be art. Edit: I have not purchased any of her products, but I know many others did in support of an artist.

I wanted to point our drawing wiff waffles does unboxing videos, they are not all her content but she does unbox a few she’s subscribed to, and after she unboxes the products she takes the prompt from the set or one of the items in the set and makes a character or art piece. Unboxing all of this took hours to film, no doubt, why not separate so you can actually have time to show the products? Keep the video short, but it would keep the audience that’s been around & would help stop this “joke” of her account only being an unboxing channel. Frankly at this point it doesn’t seem like a joke.
As someone who was alive in the hippie era, the 80's and all of those times before the interweb made publishing ones ideas, obsessions, and loves so easy, it is pronounced zeen. A once upon a time edgy way to say magazine. Feel free to call it whatever you like for the sake of cuteness. But trust me, Chloe Rose, it is zeen. I think the name debate comes from the fact that on its own it might be Zine (ine sound) but it does originate from the word magazine hence the -een pronunciation. (we learned a bit about it in one of my English classes and 'zine' came from the fact it was a small pamphlet that was distributed with either a few or single artist/writers originally as opposed to the previous 'magazine' with multiple if not dozens of people in a larger collection; though recent art zines are a bit of an in-between for the original zine and magazines formats) Kinda like gif being gif vs jif (gif is majorly the accepted one from what ive seen, even though the person who created it said it was jif, because the acrynom comes from "graphic" so the g sound is kept)
I’m old enough that I remember the 80s-90s photocopied zines and we for sure called it zeene - as in the end of with word magazine. A lot of them had themes like riot grrl culture, or feminism topics and such.

It is used for marking fabric for trimming suits and shirts! Creating your own patterns and such. I have to believe that someone has used it out of context for creating 2D artworks. And you believe right, it is tailors chalk. I get these boxes myself and when I took it out me mum recognised it straight away xD (plus the Scawlrzine tells you). They suggest using it for highlights and other white details in graphite drawings.

I used some of the ScrawlrPoints I've earned from referring people to get a subscription basically free recently and I got Dec 2021 - February 2022. February is still on the way and I can't wait! I used to subscribe continuously (April 2018 - October 2020) but I have too many supplies to justify the price right now. Those Karin Decobrush pens are amazing! Acrylic markers aren't my go-to, but if I ever decided they were I would invest! I already have their full range in watercolour markers and I love their brush nibs.
I love the unboxing videos, always so fun to see what’s inside of those boxes. From all the boxes that box with all the graphite is my favorite. I tried a Dutch brand of this box but I quit buying them. In the end I never used the products besides some swatches.

I did about 7 months of a few boxes to figure out what painting type I liked. I found out that I love watercolor the most, with gouache next. When I looked at my art I have in my house, I realized that I should have tried watercolor 20 years ago, because all of my art is watercolor...it was an "ok, you're dumb" moment...but now I love the heck out of painting, when previously I felt uninspired... I credit the art boxes for helping me find it! Also, its just fun to get presents every month...
I like scrawlr box because I've usually only used cheap art supplies. It gives me a chance to see what else is out there and it's always nice to try something new that you've not come across before.

Those triangle Faber Castell pencils with the dots are the best. I've not used any other type of pencil because I can't actually hold any others due to my Disability

The reason there wasn't a plastic straw, is since plastic straws are banned here in the UK so cardboard is nearly the only option.

It’s pronounced *zeen* because of magazine. It originated from fan magazine’s of comics back in the 1930’s. They’re huge in graphic design as well. Love your unboxing vid’s lol

Those triangle Faber Castell pencils with the dots are the best. I've not used any other type of pencil because I can't actually hold any others due to my Disability
